Rhea,
How does Walker defense look? Stronger against the pass or the run? Big upfront with lots of speed in the backfield? Just curious
Well rounded is the best way to describe them. They only give up about 13 pts a game and have 3 shutouts. They tackle very well and do a good job of keeping things in front of them. However, they don’t necessarily force a lot of turnovers or come away with a lot of sacks either. They have a good run defense led by their linebackers. The defensive line has plays well against the run but they don’t get a ton of pressure. Secondary has some good athletes that can play.
Offensively the passing game is very dangerous and Schwarzl is the cog that makes that offense go. They don’t turn the ball over. I think Schwarzl has thrown 2 picks all year and they haven’t lost any fumbles. If you look at the 2 losses Walker Valley has East Ham and Bradley. The two common things is both teams ran the ball very well on WV and Schwarzl the QB did not play very well.
WV can’t afford a slow start on offense this game. If they come out firing and having success, this could be a really good game.
For West they have to shut down Schwarzl. Keep him in check and west rolls in to Chattanooga

The crowd will be big Thursday night. Seating capacity for Finley is 20,688. I don’t know if they can fill all 20,688 but it should be the biggest crowd for football at finley this year.
-
Brentwood Academy is open
-
I like West to win. WV’s offense is impressive especially when the QB is making plays. Honestly WV should have thrown the ball more against Clinton last night. WV was picking Clinton’s secondary apart.
However, West’s defense is the reason they win this game.

Here we go playoff time! A battle of old Region 4-5A teams. Rhea comes in pick up a nice road win against East Ham to secure 3rd in the region. Lenior City comes in after a drubbing of a weak Karns team. This potentially could go either way. If the Rhea team that showed up for East Ham, I like Rhea’s chances if it was the one that played Tyner I would give it to LC.
-
Talent level wise Campbell is similar to Rhea but I think East Ham has better athletes than Campbell.

How would you compare Campbell County to East Hamilton or rhea county (our 3&4 seed)
Kind of hard to compare Rhea (completely opposite) and East Ham (I think East Ham has better athletes) to Campbell. Campbell Co likes to spread things out on offense and throw it around. I don’t think their offense is as good as it was last year though. They’re alright on defense nothing very special that I remember.

Here we go the last week of the season. We got some big games this week for playoff positions and championship. 5 regions will have championship games this week. Most of the 5A games will be played on Thursday this week.

Region 2
Powell (7-2 3-0)*
Knox West (8-1 3-0)*
Knox Halls (7-2 1-2)*
Knox Central (5-4 1-2)*
Heritage (3-6 0-4)#
Big final week for this region with the championship on the line between Powell and West and the 3rd place on the line between Knox Halls and Knox Central.

Region 3
Oak Ridge (7-2 3-0)$
Lenior City (5-4 2-1)*
Clinton (3-6 2-2)*
Campbell Co (4-5 1-2)*
Karns (1-8 0-3)#
Oak Ridge wrapped up the region championship with the win over Lenior City last night and Clinton clinched the 3rd seed with their win over Karns. Karns has been eliminated from playoff contention.
Region 4
McMinn Co (6-2 4-0)*
East Ham (6-2 3-1)*
Walker Valley (6-2 3-1)*
Rhea Co (4-4 2-2)*
Ooltewah (1-7 0-4)#
Howard (1-6 0-4)#
Here we go final week in region 4 and the championship game between McMinn and Walker Valley. McMinn is coming off a loss to a good Powell team. Walker Valley picked up a win against PURE Academy. East Ham and Rhea meet Thursday night at East Ham for 3rd place and avoiding a trip to Oak Ridge in the 1st round.
If the playoffs started Friday
Oak Ridge vs Rhea Co
Lenior City vs Walker Valley

Tullahoma ( 7-2 4-1)*
Columbia (6-3 3-2)
Lawrence Co (3-6 2-4)
Lincoln Co (3-6 2-3)
Franklin Co (2-7 2-3)
Spring Hill (2-7 0-5)#
Shelbyville and Tullahoma square off for the region championship on Thursday. Columbia takes on Lincoln Co for 3rd place and Franklin Co must win vs Spring Hill to have a chance. Lawrence Co needs some help to make the playoffs but they are still alive at this point. There could be lot of movement in this region. 4 teams for 2 spots.
Region 6
Page (8-1 4-0)*
Centennial (7-2 3-1)*
Nolensville (8-1 3-1)*
Hillsboro (6-3 2-2)*
James Lawson (3-5 0-4)#
Glencliff (2-7 0-4)#
Page knocked off Centennial to take over the top spot heading into the final week. For Page a win is an out right region championship. If Nolensville wins it forces a three way tie for the top spot and the tiebreaker looks like it would go to Nolensville with the tie breaker of most wins .
If they playoffs started Friday
Shelbyville vs Hillsboro
Tullahoma vs Nolensville
Centennial vs Columbia
Page vs Lawrence Co
Region 7
Henry Co (8-1 4-0)*

Springfield (4-5 2-2)*
Portland (1-8 0-4)#
Hunters Lane (1-8 0-4)#
Henry Co vs Hendersonville for the region this week. Beech and Springfield match up for what could be a 2nd place finish for Beech if Henry wins and and they beat Springfield. For Springfield it’s simple win and you are 3rd.
Region 8
Southwind (9-0 4-0)$
Munford (7-2 3-1) *
Overton (4-5 2-2)*
Memphis Central (5-4 2-2)*
Brighton (3-6 1-3)#
Kingsbury (1-8 0-4)#
Playoff teams are set for the playoffs for this region. Munford and Memphis central will face off for a home playoff game on the line and force a possible 3 way tie for 2nd if Central and Overton win this week. Overton takes on Kingsbury. Also congrats to Kingsbury on their first win after getting outscored 419-0 before last week. Southwind takes on Brighton to try to finish off an undefeated regular season.
If the playoffs started Friday
Henry Co vs Memphis Central
Beech vs Overton
Munford vs Hendersonville
Southwind vs Springfield

This may be accurate actually. If Hendersonville wins it causes a three way tie. I believe the first tie breaker is overall record, which would eliminate Beech. It would then go back to head to head giving Hendersonville the title. Two problems with that…
1) I’m not certain about the tiebreakers.
2) I don’t think there’s any way Hendersonville beats Henry County.
That would be correct. If the region finished in a 3 way tie the first tie breaker is head to head but if all three are still tied it goes to overall record. Now this is assuming H-ville beats Henry and Beech wins out.
There is a few scenarios for this region
H-ville- They win they get the region championship. If they lose and they fall to third if Beech wins out. If H-ville loses out and Springfield beats Beech. H-ville would be 2nd.For Beech- if they win out and H-ville doesn’t beat Henry. Beech is 2nd.
If Beech loses out and Hunters Lane wins out Beech is out and Hunters Lane makes it as the 4 seed.
If Beech beats Hunters Lane but loses to Springfield and H-ville loses to Henry and there is a 3 way tie for 2nd at 3-2 among Beech H-ville and Springfield then it would go to head to head then overall record. Assuming Springfield beats Gallatin and Beech and finishes at6-4 and H-ville finishes at (6-4 or 7-3) and Beech splits and finishes 5-5. H-ville would be 2nd due to overall record at 7-3 or they would have the head to head vs Springfield. Springfield and Beech would be decided by head to head and Springfield would be 3rd, Beech 4th.
For Springfield if they beat Beech they are 3rd and Beech 4th.

The playoff picture is taking shape and more tickets will be punched this week. Here is the update for the week.
Big Games this week
Knox Central vs Heritage
Mo West vs Bearden non-region
Sevier Co vs East Hamilton-non region
McMinn Co vs Powell non-region
Knox Halls vs Knox West
Lenior City vs Oak Ridge
Centennial vs Page
*= In the playoffs
#= out of the playoffs
$=Region Champion
Region 1 standings
Sevier Co ( 7-1 4-0)$
Mo West (4-4 3-1)*
TN High (5-3 2-2)*
Daniel Boone (3-4 2-2)*
David Crockett (3-5 1-3)#
Cocke Co (1-6 0-4)#
Sevier Co and Daniel Boone matched up and Sevier walked away with at least a share of the Region Championship, but more importantly the 1 Seed. Mo West has secured the 2nd seed and a home playoff game with their win over David Crockett. TN High is in the playoffs with their win over Cocke Co. Daniel Boone are also in the playoffs after Friday. TN High and Daniel Boone will play to determine who finished 3rd and 4th in two weeks. David Crockett is out, even with a win over Sevier Co in two weeks they would lose the head to head tie breaker vs Daniel Boone or TN High. Cocke Co is out of the playoff race.
Region 2
Powell (6-2 3-0)*
Knox West (7-1 2-0)*
Knox Halls (7-1 1-1)
Knox Central (4-4 0-2)
Heritage (3-5 0-3)
Heritage went out of region and picked up a nice non-region win over Lenior City. Now Hertiage and Knox Central will square off on Rivalry Thursday to decide who is going to the playoffs.
Powell welcomes McMinn Co for a big non-region game in what potentially could be a preview of the semi finals. Knox Hall and Knox West face off in a critical match up for both teams if they want a home playoff game. For West it’s a chance to go play Powell for the region championship the following week and for Halls it would put them in position to secure 2nd place in the region if they win out.
Current match up if the playoffs started Friday
Sevier Co vs Knox Central
Mo West vs Knox Halls
Knox West vs TN High
Powell vs Daniel Boone
Region 3
Oak Ridge (6-2 2-0)*
Lenior City ( 5-3 2-0)*
Clinton (2-6 1-2)
Campbell Co (3-5 1-2)
Karns (1-7 0-2)
Oak Ridge dropped a tough game to Bearden, but now they must turn their attention to Lenior City for the region championship. Clinton and Karns get together Friday. For Clinton a win and they are in if Karns wins they keep their playoffs hopes alive going into the final week of the season.

Walker Valley (6-2 3-1)*
Rhea Co (4-4 2-2)*
Ooltewah (1-7 0-4)#
Howard (1-6 0-4)#
All teams in this region are playing non-region games this week with McMinn at Powell and East Ham going on the road to Dollyland and Sevier Co. Rhea looks to build some momentum vs Tyner and Walker Valley plays Pure Academy.
If the playoffs started Friday
Oak Ridge vs Rhea Co

East Ham vs Clinton
McMinn Co vs Campbell Co
Region 5
Shelbyville (7-1 4-0)*

Columbia (5-3 3-2)
Lawrence Co (3-5 2-3)
Lincoln Co (3-5 2-2)
Franklin Co (1-7 1-3)
Spring Hill (2-6 0-4)#
Shelbyville took care of business with Lawrence Co and now have look to Lincoln Co. A win for Shelbyville will be one step closer to a region championship and would secure a home playoff game. For Lincoln it means keeping their playoff hopes alive going into the final week. Tullahoma goes on the road for a critical region game a win would put them facing Shelbyville for the region championship the following week. Columbia is out of region playing James Lawson before playing Lincoln Co for what could be a playoff spot. Lawrence Co and Franklin play in what is basically an elimination game. Winner keeps their playoff hopes alive.
Region 6
Centennial (7-1 3-0)*
Page (7-1 3-0)*
Nolensville (7-1 3-1)*
Hillsboro (5-3 1-2)
James Lawson (3-5 0-4)#
Glencliff (2-6 0-3)
Centennial vs Page in what could decide the championship for the region for Centennial. If Page wins then that would put them in a position to take the region title the next week verses Nolensville. Nolensville is taking on Summit this week in a non region battle. Hillsboro could punch their ticket to the playoffs with a win over Glencliff. Glencliff needs to win to keep their playoff hopes alive.
If they playoffs started Friday
Shelbyville vs Hillsboro
Tullahoma vs Nolensville
Page vs Columbia
Centennial vs Lawrence Co
Region 7
Henry Co (7-1 4-0)*
Hendersonville (6-2 3-1)*
Beech (4-4 2-1)
Springfield (4-4 2-2)
Portland (1-7 0-4)#
Hunters Lane (1-7 0-3)
Henry Co is facing off with Ridgeway in a non-region game. Hendersonville disposed of Portland to set up the region championship game in two weeks with Henry Co. H-ville goes out of region to take on Lebanon this week. Beech can punch their ticket this week with a win over Hunters Lane.
Region 8
Southwind (8-0 4-0)$
Munford (7-2 3-1) *
Overton (4-4 2-2)*
Memphis Central (5-4 2-2)*
Brighton (3-5 1-3)#
Kingsbury (0-8 0-4)#
Memphis Central picked up the non region win yesterday. Playoff teams are set for the playoffs for this region and play all non region games this week. In two weeks Munford and Memphis central will face off for a home playoff game on the line and force a possible 3 way tie for 2nd
If the playoffs started Friday

In region 7, I think you need to move up Beech two spots - better in region record than Springfield and beat Hendersonville head to head.
I was kind of wondering that when I was looking at the TSSAA region standings. I went off what they had as the region standings. I agree Beech should probably be 2nd. Like you said they beat H-ville and I would think 2-1 is better than 2-2. However, I think the Tssaa looks at it as all three have two wins and first tie breaker is overall record which H-villa does have. I don’t know but should straight out here in the coming weeks.

So how can a 1-10 Ooltewah make the playoffs last year ?
There was only 5 teams in the region last year so all they had to do was beat Howard and they made it in. East Ham was 4A last year.

It’s that time of the year the playoff picture starts to take shape. Here is a look at who would play who if the playoffs started Friday. I’ll update it each week leading up to the playoffs. There is still a lot of region battles going on and I have a feeling we will see some movement between now and Oct 27th.
Big Games this week
Sevier Co vs Daniel Boone
Mo West vs David Crockett
Bearden vs Oak Ridge- non region
Shelbyville vs Lawrence Co
Beech vs Siegel-non region
Portland vs Hendersonville
*= In the playoffs
#= out of the playoffs
$=Region Champion
Region 1 standings
Sevier Co ( 6-1 3-0)*
Mo West (3-4 2-1)
Daniel Boone (3-3 2-1)
TN High (4-3 1-2)
David Crockett (3-4 1-2)
Cocke Co (1-6 0-3)
Sevier Co and Daniel Boone match up this week in a key Region game. If Sevier wins they can wrap up a share of the region championship. For Daniel Boone they could really throw a wrench in the region by knock off Sevier. Mo West can all but seal up 2nd with a win Friday over David Crockett. For Crockett a win would get them right back in the playoff picture. A lose would almost certainly put them out of the playoffs. Tn High can seal their playoff spot with a win over Cocke Co and put Cocke Co out of playoff contention Friday.
Region 2
Powell (6-2 3-0)*
Knox West (7-1 2-0)*
Knox Halls (7-1 1-1)
Knox Central (4-4 0-2)
Heritage (2-5 0-3)
The only team playing in this region next Friday is Heritage taking on Lenior City in a non region match up. The next 2 weeks has some great match-ups coming out of this region
Current match up if the playoffs started Friday
Sevier Co vs Knox Central
Mo West vs Knox Halls
Knox West vs Daniel Boone
Powell vs Tn High
Region 3
Oak Ridge (6-1 2-0)*
Lenior City ( 5-2 2-0)*
Clinton (2-6 1-2)
Campbell Co (3-5 1-2)
Karns (1-7 0-2)
Oak Ridge goes out of region again for a big match-up with Bearden. Lenior City takes a trip over to Heritage in another non-region game. Looking forward to Oak Ridge and LC play in 2 weeks.
Region 4
McMinn Co (6-2 4-0)*
East Ham (6-2 3-1)*
Walker Valley (6-2 3-1)*
Rhea Co (4-4 2-2)*
Ooltewah (1-7 0-4)#
Howard (1-6 0-4)#
The playoff teams are set in this region with Rhea winning at Ooltewah last night. Now it comes down to the last week when we will find out who goes where in the playoffs.
If the playoffs started Friday
Oak Ridge vs Rhea Co
Lenior City vs Walker Valley
East Ham vs Clinton
McMinn Co vs Campbell Co
Region 5
Shelbyville (6-1 3-0)
Tullahoma ( 6-2 3-1)
Columbia (5-3 3-2)*
Lawrence Co (3-4 2-2)
Lincoln Co (3-4 2-2)
Franklin Co (1-7 1-3)
Spring Hill (2-6 0-4)#
Shelbyville and Lawrence Co match up this week in a key region game. Shelbyville can take another step towards a region championship, but Lawrence can put themselves in a better playoff spot with a win.
Region 6
Centennial (7-1 3-0)*
Page (7-1 3-0)*
Nolensville (7-1 3-1)*
Hillsboro (5-3 1-2)
James Lawson (3-5 0-4)#
Glencliff ( 2-5 0-3)
The only match up in this region this week is Glencliff going out of region to play Mt Juliet Christian. Two weeks will be the region championship game between Centennial and Page.
If they playoffs started Friday
Shelbyville vs Hillsboro
Tullahoma vs Nolensville
Page vs Columbia
Centennial vs Lawrence Co
Region 7
Henry Co (7-1 4-0)*
Hendersonville (5-2 2-1)
Springfield (4-4 2-2)
Beech (3-4 2-1)
Portland (1-6 0-3)
Hunters Lane (1-7 0-3)
This region has been entertaining to follow. This week gives us Hendersonville welcoming Portland this week. For Hendersonville a win keeps the region championship hopes alive. For Portland if they win it keeps their playoff hopes alive.
Region 8
Southwind (8-0 4-0)$
Munford (7-1 3-1) *
Overton (4-4 2-2)
Memphis Central (4-4 2-2)
Brighton (3-5 1-3) #
Kingsbury (0-8 0-4)#
Southwind has wrapped up the championship. They only match-ups in this region are non-region games with Memphis Central playing Manassas and Munford taking on Lausanne.

Pretty simple for Rhea win and you are in the playoffs. Lose well the road gets tougher to make the playoffs. I know we are banged up and down this year but surely we can beat Ooltewah. I still don’t see Ethan coming back this week but he is probably getting closer to coming back. Maybe he will be back for his final home game against Tyner

That’s a good line. Wins would be Soddy, Howard, and Ooltewah. Maybe East Ham again or Knox Central. Tyner maybe but being that late in the year it’s hard to say. I don’t think we get by Red Bank this year.
Rhea could be anywhere from 2-8 to 6-4.
