  1. Christina Slay of Seymour High School is among the best freshmen. Mark it down. www.themountainpress.com --- see the story about Seymour's home opener against South Doyle. Slay had 18 points and 18 rebounds in her first game in front of the home crowd... dang...
  2. I wonder why anyone would jump from topic to topic flaming people? I was just factually stating what happened in the Campbell County-Union County game tonight -- a 17-year old kid had his best game. While I'm not predicting anything against Sevier County -- the Smoky Bears are a greatly improved team, and Campbell County's offense has had only one real option all year, the running game, I will remind you Johnson did have 130 yards rushing and a touchdown in the Cougars' 8-0 win over Sevier County last season. Why can't you just let a kid have his moment in the sun? Were you neglected as a child?
  3. Chris Johnson rushed for 336 yards on 38 carries for five touchdowns against Union County tonight in the Cougars 42-35 win, breaking records for yardage, touchdowns and points in a game (32 points -- 5 TD's, one two-point conversion). The Cougars couldn't stop the Union County passing attack, which had attempted only 35 passes in the first four games of the season reportedly. Johnson showed a burst of speed he'd been missing early on in the season. Speaking with him after the game, he's says he's gotten himself into better shape. It definately showed tonight as he spun, jumped, twisted and dove his way to doubling his season rushing totals.
  4. No one has mentioned Chris Johnson yet, so what the heck... As a junior for Campbell County last year Johnson ran for 1,400 yards while leading the Cougars to their first winning season in school history. Gulmire and Shiverdecker are also pretty impressive. Just my $.02.
