  1. Yes let me bring attention to this. Greenfield has two coaches for their high school team. What's worse is one of them is a volunteer assistant. A volunteer! We have one faculty coach. 1 What's worse is the coach that was just replaced from the high school is the jr. high head coach and he's the only coach there too! That's right folks two faculty coaches for two football teams. It's a friggin joke! Jackie Vaughn has ruined Greenfield football and it will take a decade or better to get over it. The coaches are doing the best they can and God bless Adam Dowland for volunteering his time so our high school can have two coaches. If he didn't volunteer some idiot like David Dunlap would be forced to coach and that guy knows nothing about anything. Adam doesn't get paid one red cent. I think its a joke that our booster club doesn't give him at least 1,000 dollars for all his time. He's put in every second as much time as the head coach. IT IS A SHAME WHATS GOING ON WITH FOOTBALL AT GREENFIELD AND ITS ALL JACKIE VAUGHN'S FAULT!!!

I don't know who you think you are, but you have no right whatsoever to get on this or any other board and call someone an idiot. It shows your lack of character.

  2. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. There has been plenty of discipline at Dresden over the last several years. As a former player, I know that coach Rogers always disciplined his players in a fair and just manner. Your comments are incorrect, uncalled for, and unsubstantiated.

For the last several years there has been little to no discipline in Dresden. Players missing practices, etc...

Knott will turn them around if he is allowed to stay long enough. The folks in Dresden must understand they will have a few hard pills to swallow before it gets better.

  3. Wow...that's great news for Dresden and congrats to Coach Knott! Camden might actually start playing Dresden again since they now have a head coach with some class! Good luck to the Lions from the Lions...Camden's loss is your gain.

Lions4ever, you need to get your facts straight. If you are referring to the incident that happened following the Dresden/Camden game a couple of years ago, Coach Rogers had NOTHING to do with that and tried to prevent it from happening. It was one of the assistants that was responsible for that. Ask anyone on the Dresden sidelines. As long as I've had dealings with Coach Rogers, he's had nothing but class. Best of luck to Coach Rogers in his endeavors and to Coach Knott.

  4. I think you guys might be overrating Dresden a good bit. I thought they were the worst coach'd team in the region other than Gibson County last year, and they didn't really have any athletes either. Hewitt is a hard runner, but I don't think he makes them anything more than a 4th seed caliber team in 7-2A.

Milan, Huntingdon, Dresden, Humboldt, USJ, and Westview should all have playoff quality teams next year.

Let's see if I have this straight. Worst coached team in the region (other than Gibson Co.-who defeated Westview), no athletes, but they still managed to beat USJ (who you are an obvious supporter of), by something like 46-12. Hmmmm, nice call.

  5. Gee, looks who's back..No, I am not Coach Rogers, or his brother, just a SUPPORTER of Dresden football. If you were a SUPPORTER of Dresden football, then you would know that his name is Matt Hewett, not Hewitt. You seem to jump all over the place with your comments and who you support. From your previous posts, at times you said that the Dresden football team had "tried and played hard all season." Once, you even complimented the coaches for a job well done for coming from behind to defeat Humboldt. Then, you jump ship and say you can't wait to watch Westview girl's basketball so that you can watch #13 shoot the 3's. Also from a previous post, "I was not impressed with Westview's sportsmanship at all." And oh yes, my favorite post of yours, "the rest of us noncoaches should take up coaching if we don't like it." Maybe it's about time you put your money (or occupation) where your mouth is. Like you always say, that's just my opinion.

Thanks for calling me a moron and classless.

I am entitled to my opinion, and I can give it without "name calling."

I don't have a child in sports. I still love to watch sports though.

Matt Hewitt is a great player that deserves recognition.

I went to every game this year and cheerfully supported the team at every game.

I just stated a fact about a coaches record.

By the way, if I failed to mow my yard the city would cite me for my grass being too high. In the real world there are consequences.

The Dresden Football Team is a hard working group of guys.

  6. Not sure who you sources are, but I spoke with one of the coaches and you are completely wrong as to why 2 players were suspended last week.

I was told injuries was not the problem. They said strep throat was going through the teamall last week, and the starting safety and wide receiver, which is the same person, was suspended for breaking a boys nose in the field house.I think everyone will be back, or so I'm told.

  7. justforfun?, there is something known as a clue, and you need to get one.

If Humboldt has the speed they had last year,

Dresden is going to have to really hustle.

I do have a question for you football smart folks.

Why does Hewett plow down the middle almost every time?

With his speed why doesn't he go around the big pile up?

Is he allowed to make the adjustment even if it's not

    in the "play?"

  8. I would add Matt Hewett from Dresden to the list.

Three young men from Riverside should receive consideration.

Hunter Smith RB/FS  gained over 1,000 yds rushing in 8 games.

Sean McCormick FB/LB  was second in west Tn in total tackles last year.

Jay Gilbert WB/LB very versatile player.

  9. Dresden will be a better team than last year. They and Peabody will challenge for a playoff spot. Who does Humboldt have coming back besides Donald and their QB who never played a down last year?

    1.) Huntingdon

    2.) Westview

    3.) Humboldt

    4.) Milan

    5.) USJ

    6.) Dresden

    7.) Peabody

    8.) Gibson Co.

The 2003 state champs (Huntingdon) will be out to prove something to all of the doubters that say they aren't even the best team in their region.  Westview is loaded everywhere and I expect a quarterfinal matchup between them and Huntingdon will be a classic.  All of this talk about Milan & USJ possibly being down and nobody is focusing on the team that won eight regular season games a year ago in Humboldt.  I expect to see Milan and GW Carver meeting in the first round of the playoffs this year (and it will be a tough one for a Carver team that has been beaten by Milan the past two years in the postseason).  USJ will not be bad, but they won't be a playoff team either.  Dresden was a playoff team a year ago but this region may be a little too tough for them this year.  Peabody and Gibson Co. should be looking to improve after terrible seasons a year ago.

  10. Westview & Huntingdon get the nod for top spots, too close to call with the rest this early. Humboldt lost several seniors, Dresden will be in the mix for a play-off spot, as will Peabody. Milan will be it's usual self, I'm sure. Just don't know enough about USJ to make a prediction on them.

    Basically a toss up. My prediction 1Westview 2Huntingdon 3Milan, I don't see USJ being a contender.
