  7. Soddy Won.... O'Dell Holds Off Baylor As Trojans Rally To Win Baseball Opener by Weston Wamp posted March 14, 2005 Photo by Weston Wamp Soddy-Daisy relief pitcher, Ben O'Dell, allowed only three hits and no runs allowing his team to rally for a win Monday night. Soddy Daisy junior Ben O'Dell must have ice in his veins, literally and figuratively. When O'Dell relieved Trojans' ace Alex Vaughn at the end of two innings, the host Baylor Red Raiders had already built an 8-2 lead and appeared to be coasting to an easy victory on what was a frigid opening day for high school baseball. Over the next five innings O'Dell, who is listed at 6-3, 280 pounds, allowed only three hits and no runs, effectively opening the door for a Soddy Daisy rally in the bottom of the fifth that would carry the Trojans to a 9-8 victory. Along with his nearly perfect pitching performance that included six strikeouts, O'Dell also helped his own cause with a double in the fourth and the game-tying RBI in the fifth. Trailing 8-5 entering the fifth, Soddy Daisy loaded the bases with no outs when Jeremy Frazier knocked in Alex Vaughn to pull the Trojans within two. Clutch RBI groundouts from Joey Bowman and Ben O'Dell were the finishing touches on the comeback inning. Baylor centerfielder Steven Hawk initiated a rally with a double to lead off the bottom of the sixth, but that rally was brought to an immediate halt when Hawk was gunned out at home after a William Stout double. O'Dell got Ryne Simpson to ground out next, but not without allowing Stout to advance to third base. With two outs and a man on third O'Dell struck out Baylor cleanup Logan Simmons to move within a half inning of the victory. Despite walking two in the bottom of the seventh O'Dell hung on and forced Baylor's Trey Dyer to pop out to shallow right field to end the game. Only two innings into the game, with their ace Ryne Simpson on the mound, the Red Raiders had seemingly put away the Trojans early with a five-run first inning and a three-run second. Back-to-back RBI singles from Ty Levie and Garrett Cash capped off a potent first inning before Rowdy Byrum and Coty Green furthered the damage with an RBI double and RBI single in the second, respectively. Soddy's TJ Hendrickson's two RBI double in the fourth got the Trojans' back in the game before back to back singles from Alex Vaughn and Matt Hicks ended what was an already dismal day for Raider's ace Ryne Simpson, who was charged with eight earned runs, but was not saddled with the loss. Baylor was led by William Stout, who was 3-4 on the day with two runs scored and Rowdy Byrum who batted 2-4 with a double and a RBI. Ty Hendrickson paved the way for the Trojans offensively going 3-3 with a double, two runs scored, and four RBI. Jeremy Frazier was 2-4 with two runs scored and an RBI for the winning team.

  12. Joe, You beat me to it. Soddy is FLAT OUT READY to play some ball. Prediction! SD - 28 DB - 17
  13. I hope you guys are still going back and forth with the Owls tomorrow night. That game was last week, in case you didn't remember. Looks like some DB fans need to get over it also.....
  14. You've done gone and done it now. you've got Fourseamer fired up. Let me give you a little advice, if you live in a glass house, don't throw stones. Like my man fourseamer said, what about your fans who don't care what they do as long as they play next friday?!? BIG RENO, YOUR #'S BEEN CALLED!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. I'm still not sure this ever happened, but if it did, it was no where near as bad as your guy swingin punches. I think the our O-Line just needed some motivation from some other team members. None of them wanted to "Kick the other guys butt". Ok, what about the cheating and Fourseamer being a coach. Explain please...
  16. What in the world are you talking about? Fourseamer sits in the stands. How can he be a coach? Who on the line are you talking about? Who Cheated? If you are going to talk crap, back it up.
  17. Don't forget KARNS. DB- 42 Karns - 14 SD-52 Karns -0 But like hotsauce said.....IT DOES NOT MATTER!! thumb
  18. You sound like your a little worried about a possible loss Friday......
  19. You are correct on the sacks in the 2nd half. Lets look at total yards, shall we. We had a total of 315 total yards in the game, 148 of those came in the second half. Oh by the way, that’s 315 total yards to the owls 252. Doesn't sounds like they were too tired to me?!? The owl’s defense made some good adjustments, which are where the sacks came from. If it wasn't for the blocked field goal, you would be down by 2 touchdowns. You are dogging the O-line, my brother is on the O-line, and therefore, you are dogging my brother. It's that simple. Enough said on the subject…..
