As we all knew, Hardaway was illegally recruiting at Memphis East. NCAA is coming down hard on him and the University of Memphis for what he did as a high school coach. Wiseman wasn’t the only one that transferred illegally. T$$AA should take a page out of the NCAA’s playbook and at the very least vacate ALL titles won while Hardaway was on the bench. How many other kids dreams were dashed because of the underhanded dealings of this coaching staff?  All in the name of winning at all costs!  Chickens are coming home to roost now!

The only reason the NCAA is coming down hard on U of M is because Penny thought he could do what he wanted like he did at East. The NCAA has too much pride and power to be shown up on the way Penny tried. The TSSAA won't do anything and won't care because this is not their problem.

Since you care so much about secondary sports in Memphis/Shelby County you should move here and run for office. You had nothing to say this year at all because you had no rumors to build your bias on. I bet you thanked God in your nightly prayers that no team from Memphis/Shelby County won a title this year.

4A Beech and Columbia and Cane Ridge dont let their record fool you.. Columbia is a fun team to watch in Mid Tennessee those kids can go.

Christian Brothers and Brentwood Academy are probably the best two teams in the state no matter what.

They don't play in the TSSAA but the Memphis Homeschool Education Association has a really good squad.

I can only really speak for Memphis and West TN (very weak this year with exception of a few teams.)

    4A: Bartlett, Whitehaven, Overton

    3A: Jackson Southside, Fayette Ware

2A: Douglas, Power Center (2A seems very weak in Memphis)

1A: Middleton (could win it all), MASE, MAHS

    DIIA: FACS

DIIAA: CBHS (could win it all) MUS (not ready now but has some very good young players)

No negativity towards any child that plays this game.  It’s the adults that do the shady stuff. I have zero hate for any person no matter what or who they are.  Memphis has been caught time and again but T$$AA refuses to do anything. What about Pennys shuttle where they were driving all over the city to pick up kids to go to East?  Let’s start there. Or the fact that Wiseman illegally transferred and his college team paid the price for it. I’m just getting warmed up…

Wiseman didn't illegally transfer. His family took money to make a move. The transfer was completely legal.

If you know about all of this stuff and you're not turning it into the TSSAA then you're whinning. You don't complain about anyone but Memphis/Shelby County.

You're just getting warmed up huh? Please bless us with all the knowledge you have about all of the illegal activity that surrounds basketball in Memphis/Shelby County. If you refuse to do it here after claiming you're, "just getting warmed up" then you're blowing smoke and are a coward.

If you have proof then turn it in or shut up.

That is a great point. I didn't even think about that. 360 days from last game played... WOW You hearing anything about super teams in Memphis? Is it Wooddale?

I doubt it will be Wooddale with the last Lawson gone. I don't even know if Keelon Lawson is even coaching anymore.

Last year really messed with people who aren't really inside the city of Memphis and basketball. The 2021 freshman class has had alot of hype and potential and many people have no idea who they are because they freshman. Then they didn't get to play so that confusses things. Who knows where some of these kids will end up?

a change of address is just easier in the metro areas. It has always been that way and always will be that way

There is no need to prove anything like that this year.

Students didn't play last year in Shelby County Schools (Memphis) so they meet the requirement of not participating for 1 year. Students can go anywhere, without changing addresses, they are accepted for enrollement. Since SCS has "choice transfer" then I don't see any kids getting turned down unless there are other major factors like grades (this would usually make them ineligible by the TSSAA if it was too bad) or behaviour problems.

It's wide open with nothing extra to do.

We’ll said.  I believe it would benefit the defense anyway.  Lower scoring games    Won’t that be fun to watch

So NBA, NCAA, other pro league and high level basketball isn't enough for you?

You need high school to score high and be exciting for you to get your entertainment fix?

No idea. With a lot of them not playing last year and a lot of forfeit games in football this year no way I would schedule a regular season game with any Memphis team right now.

There have not been that many football forfeits. Memphis teams districts are typically made up of SCS, Charter, and municipal schools. They don't need or usually can't afford to travel very far during the regular season.

We just agree to disagree. However, I am not saying the game is broken. It is a beautiful game that changes lives daily. If you are not evolving you are devolving. Change is a good thing

The Shot Clock is not evolving the game. The shot clock's only purpose was to prevant teams from stalling and losing fans for professional sports. The NBA introduced it in 1954 the NCAA in 1985.

I coached overseas with a shot clock in HS. In 2 seasons we never had a shot clock violation because the 35 sec clock was never in play because the teams, no matter how good or bad, they were were constantly taking quick shots. The team that I coached was bigger, more athletic, and stronger than every team we played. 2 seasons, 2 losses and destroyed just about everyone we played just because we physically out mathced people. We didn't have good basketball players or highly skilled players we were just bigger, faster, and stronger.

Before the shot clock teams could work the ball, make teams play defense, and play the game to give themselves a chance to win. When that went away the level of play went down and it became Darwin's Theory.

Great hire for Madison!  Congrats to Coach Hicks. I have a quick question...with all of these great coaches in Madison county, will the talent pool become spread out too much?  Will Madison County be able to produce state tourney caliber teams if the talent is spread equally through the city?

Outside of Liberty has Madison County ever had state tourney caliber teams?

Randy Coffman is a great coach. He builds a culture and atitude around programs that is something to behold. Yes, he was loaded at Riverdale but it doesn't mean that just anyone could come in and do what he was able to do. Coaches can and do screw up good teams and blow opportunites to win with talent. They might win 25 games but winning 25 games isn't being the #1 ranked team in the country.

I'm glad you mentioend Randy Frazier. I worked for him at Gleason my first year teaching/coaching. Joel Ayers was his assistant. I watched them work in practice day in and day out. They didn't have much size or many athletes and played in a tough district. He was a really good coach.

Agreed they will be one of the favorites but any Memphis team that makes it will be THE favorite. MAHS had kids move in right before the region tournament last year so you never know who will show up on a team from down there.

I'm gonna give you a big headache.....you ready?

Because SCS didn't play last year it's all wide open. Kids can now transfer anywhere they want and play right away.

You have not seen many other teams. The 83 Melrose , 85 Whitehaven, 2006 Hamilton, the recent East teams were much better. Those are a few and that is just Memphis teams.

I always feel like the 2008 Ridgeway team flys under the radar when stuff like this comes up.

Hard to really tell. Coached at UTM for a few years but didn't have a good record there. Has bounced around a few high schools since. Not sure who all applied, so that always makes it tough to tell too.

    Since leaving UTM (35-117) :

    Blytheville 14/15: 9-10

    Germantown15/16, 16/17, 17/18: 26-4, 10-19, 14-13

    Kenwood 18/19, 19/20, 20/21: 18-9, 17-14, 6-10 (schedule on CoachT)

Houston County  Played Lake county in Jackson tonight and Houston County got a butt whoopin 10-0. But one thing for sure is that Lake county’s #8 that plays second base is punk!  But what do you expect from someone from lake county.

I guess you've set the bar for what to expect from somone from Houston County.

In reality there is not much that seperates these two places.
