  1. We use a stat program on the iPad and I have had a great deal of coaches look at the program with me and start using it. You get so much more data instantly when someone is on the bench specifically keeping the stats this way. We can know at any point our current stats and get a quick analysis of exactly where we are scoring and losing points. After matches are over we can then analyze both team's stats by rotation and determine what we need to do the next time we play them. For example if a team is scoring the majority of its points on us out of R1 and our best side out rotation is R3 then we know to set the rotation to match those two rotations up.

  2. No set rule on amount of space for any match in any part of the season except 6ft. for serving. As for playing area it is determined by the refs before the start of the match. Usually a ball is considered out of play once a player has crossed past team benches. They could play a ball and fall into a bench but not go behind it. As for the stands, most refs will tell the girls they can play a ball that is going into the stands but not be in the stands to play it, kind of like the bench area.

  3. I have always wondered if doing a midnight madness practice would be worth doing if you could get the fan support to make it fun but between the end of dead period timing on Sunday morning and the 15 days of practice in July I do not know if it would be practical. If anyone has done it or had success with it I would love to hear about it.

  4. Once again, do not bother posting on this unless you have some information on any schools with openings for playdays. I do not post on here to get into all of the worthless discussion that tends to take place that has nothing to do with high school girls volleyball. I am simply looking to get some extra work in for my girls in August as opposed to four scrimmages. If you have any information please post it, otherwise please do not post your discussion that has nothing to do with the topic.

  5. Oakland High School is looking to add one more scrimmage this preseason. If anyone knows of any schools looking for another scrimmage please have them contact Jason Sloan at sloanj@rcs.k12.tn.us. We have August 10, 12, 13, 19, 20 and 22 open and are willing to play away. Thanks for any help you can offer and sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.

  6. Well I appreciate that after 10 years of success coaching high school volleyball with few club players on my teams and consistently building strong programs that I am by your standards unsuccessful as are many other schools in this state whose programs are run by non club coaches. If you spend any time as a coach you will learn that successful coaching is more than just a knowledge of the game but also about how to coach and motivate.
