Well I appreciate that after 10 years of success coaching high school volleyball with few club players on my teams and consistently building strong programs that I am by your standards unsuccessful as are many other schools in this state whose programs are run by non club coaches. If you spend any time as a coach you will learn that successful coaching is more than just a knowledge of the game but also about how to coach and motivate.

So is your argument that the only coaches in this state with any knowledge of how to coach are club coaches and the rest of us are just a bunch of jokes.

I really hope Alcoa is not already in the weight room considering TSSAA requires a 2 week dead period following the end of the season.

They used to have a decent team about six or seven years ago. They have talented female athletes if they will let them play volleyball and not just basketball.

I took over at the end of June, so I had July to get them ready. The biggest changes I have tried to make are to speed up the offense and put a greater emphasis on playing smart. We constantly preach limiting the unforced errors and measure them against our points earned. It is still a work in progress and I feel we can play much better than we are now. Perhaps the biggest difference from last year is they feel like they can win against any team. The setter is Lauren Duarte and the OH is Sarah Fraser.

Thank You for the kind words. We wanted to come out and play Siegel very aggressively and force them into some mistakes. They are an excellent volleyball team and a very good measuring stick for our progress. Hopefully we can make it a little more interesting the next go around.
