  1. I don't know SF, so I'm not going to make an opinion of him just by his comments on here. I know that not all people like Channel 12, I'd be STUPID to think so, I've got friends that don't even watch it at all. Of course I fuss at them about that! I just wish we could all get along! I wish Roane County people wouldn't think that all we care about is Anderson County, and then I wish Anderson County didn't think that all we care about is Roane County! I care about them all! Well as a Coalfield Grad, I'm not SUPPOSED to care for Oliver Springs, BUT hey, I do! I enjoy going to OS to shoot video just as much as I enjoy going to OR. Let's just all get along!!!!
  2. thanks Catback! I really do care about the product that's on the air. I do care about ALL THE SCHOOLS in the area, especially COALFIELD, but we'll save that for another day! Ron has been reading this forum so if he decides to make a change, then he will, but otherwise I don't know of any changes that are in the pipeline. I'll be meeting with him on Friday and probably will talk to him before then about this whole thing. I will tell you that he will be on the show this Wednesday and Friday.
  3. 10-4 RIDGER REPORTER!!! I guess we will continue to be mediocre then! Not much I can do on that or getting Tank back on the air, trust me, ask him!!!
  4. I work in PRODUCTION not a reporter, kind of like you! I didn't pick the panel, that was done by Mr. Ron Berry. You're not going to agree with everyone and you never will, besides, why would you want to? That would make for a boring show, and a boring life. Well you're right, we aren't professional, because I don't have paid people on the air, so the definition of a professional is someone who gets paid for what they do. the guys on Friday AREN'T paid, so they're NOT professional. As Tank stated, Channel 15 is a OAK RIDGE ONLY station and David Clary is the most knowledgeable person, next to Chicken Man, about Oak Ridge sports in the area.
  5. So your glad to see the station go through this? I understand that things went a little crazy Friday night (and the tape has been sent to Ron Berry just minutes ago) but to say that the STATION deserves this is a little over the top. Like I said before, I put my life into this place and to have someone tear it down because they got mad at a couple of the volunteers is crazy. Like I said before, my wife and kids depend on this place as much as I do, because this is my living. I enjoy getting up in the mornings and coming to work, how many people can ACTUALLY say that about their jobs? Your attack, I'm sure is not directed toward me, but when you attack Channel 12, you are attacking me because I've put more into this place than anyone. I've invested my own money in equipment and other things to make it better. It just gets me down to hear someone attack something of "mine" just like it would you if someone was to attack you. You go on to write that we should "GO BACK TO ROANE COUNTY" because they get better and more coverage, however 2 of the 3 hosts that were on the show Friday night were in fact from Anderson County. And something that we've TRIED to do is get a view point from all the local schools - Monk from Harriman, Ron from Rockwood, Donnie from Kingston, Queener from Clinton, Richie from AC, and Tank WAS our OR contact (however he's originally from Roane County). I try EACH week to go to a different school and get footage from the area high schools and have 1 other person to shoot for me who will go to one or two games also. We try to SPREAD IT OUT since our area covers from the lower part of Union County up into Cumberland County, NOT JUST OAK RIDGE! Yes our address is Oak Ridge, and it's the most CENTRALLY located place in our coverage area, not to mention the largest city. A lot of people say that "they're glad that Oak Ridge lost", they, being the hosts, might be, but I'm not. I lived in Oak Ridge, my wife is from Oak Ridge and I have relatives that graduated from ORHS. I've followed ORHS football since I was in middle school because I lived in Oak Ridge, for 2 years, but went to school in Coalfield. Being in Coalfield, people would say "why do you like Oak Ridge?" and I would tell them that I lived there and liked following a "winning tradition". I like WORKING in Oak Ridge, it's close to my house in Coalfield, it's close to my wife who works at the Physician's Plaza and it's a great place to be. However I know that there is more that exists in life other than Oak Ridge and Oak Ridge football. This is an area that has 8 high schools in our viewing area, do you think it's fair to the other 7 if all we do is cover Oak Ridge? I was at over 7 ORHS football games last year covering the Wild Cats and will be there this Friday night as they take on Soddy Daisy and try to get back in the win column. So for someone to say that all we do is Roane County Football is kind of out of line. We try our best to be a TRI-COUNTY station that covers the 8 high schools in the viewing area, including Oakdale, which is a SMALL Single-A school. So as I ramble, I just want it to be known that I take to heart any stabs at the station because I feel like that I AM THE STATION. It's kind of like your sister, you can talk bad about her, but no one else can!
  6. I'm going to take the tape to Ron Berry, owner of BBB, and let him take a look at it and let him make the decision on what he wants to do. I'm sure that we lost some viewers Friday night. But then again, some people called in in support of the views of the guys on the show, so again, it's a lose/lose situation. You take them off and the people who enjoy the show as is, get's mad. You leave them on and the people who disagree get's mad! I just hope this doesn't keep you from watching OTHER shows on Channel 12, cause my kids depend on people like you watching the shows and supporting our sponsors!!! This has been my LIFE for the past 10 years and I hope for the MOST part what I do at Channel 12 is positive.
  7. Well again, thanks for the comments and sorry you didn't agree with them. The door is open to you too on coming and being a part of the show.
  8. Well I agree that you didn't mention any other show, but when you mention the station, it lumps the whole station into your comments. I agree 100% that it was UNCALLED FOR on the hanging up on people, I told the operator that he should explain why he was hanging up on people that he was afraid that they were going to cuss, if that was the reason, he hung up on them. The hosts from last year are the same, other than Donnie Davis from Kingston. Queener got sick last season and missed out on the majority of the season and might be the reason you don't remember him. the Wednesday night show, might be more of what you are referencing. That was out of my hands on the changing of guard, that was done by the owner of the station, the one who signs my paycheck. if you're watching the breakfast show right now, call in, get your points across now, and enjoy the freedom of speech that you can get on this show. However, Tank won't let you get negative, too much. I appreciate your comments and the fact that you don't think the station is ALL bad. Would you like to come and set in on the show and be a part of it???
  9. FRIDAY NIGHT SCOREBOARD has been a Friday night staple since the middle 90's in Roane County and in our 6th season in Anderson County. It got out of hand last night, I agree. I don't think that you should hold the station responsible for things that were said by UNPAID hosts though. I put my life and soul into this community channel and try to make it the best that I possibly can as an employee of a VERY small company. I put 80 plus hours a week of work in and stay here until 1:30 or 2am every Friday doing the show (production wise) and then setting up for the Gridiron Breakfast for the next morning and then dragging myself out of the bed to make it in for the Breakfast. I was in the control room building REGION STANDINGS graphics when all HECK broke loose. We had one caller that said Kingston played dirty, then one of our hosts from Kingston said that the big kid from Harriman played dirty (well as most people in the Tri-County area know when you say BIG kid from Harriman, who you're talking about). This lit the phone's up! Then our phone operator got a little too trigger happy on the phone and cut at least 3 people off, that I can remember, which then made our lady caller from Oak Ridge VERY upset. I agreed with her as that we should let the callers voice their opinion. I didn't know what to do at this point! I just sat in amazement of what was happening. Things just went downhill. So what do you do?? After the break things got a little better, but by this time we were getting calls of support for the hosts, and calls against the host, so you're not going to please everyone. I don't agree with everything said and agree with the lady that called and glad that she did it. So the moral of my post is that just because it happened on the local community station, don't blame everyone and our sponsors for something that "snowballed" last night. For the most part, the program is positive and is very caller driven. Sometime's things get out of hand and I apologize for that. But what do you do?? Maybe I needed to put an end to it earlier, I just don't know. But PLEASE don't lump all shows, all employees and all sponsors into one bad night on the Friday Night Scoreboard. Thanks for reading and listening to MY SIDE of the story. If you want to talk about it, give me a call Monday - Friday at the station - 483-8112 or call my cell phone at 386-6722. J. 12. Games are on WB-20 for the folks in East Tennessee. Talked to them today and they are going to carry them, just like they have the past 3 or 4 years. Go Cats! Brad
  13. Well if you look at the winners, only 1 from East TN!!! I know how my vote went and they were ALL for East Tennessee players, so I assume all the media in Middle and West vote for their own also. So once the finalists are determined, why not have another vote with the media? I'm just MIFFED that Spencer didn't win, what a deserving kid! He's not only an awesome football player, but an overall GREAT guy! Congrats on getting to the Championship game to him!!! And I guess congrats to Mr. Miller on getting the award!!! The GULMIRE SHOW IS STILL OPEN!!!! Go Cats! Brad
