  1. Forrest can trot two guy's out there who can bring it 88-92 consistently. I understand that both of them have signed to play at the next level and one or both of them may get drafted. Who else can do that in single A ? There are several "other" schools that have good teams. Collinwood, Mt. Pleassant, Cascade, Columbia Academy all come to mind here in Middle. East Tennessee will produce a couple of contenders as will west. I do agree that it's a long season and that's why we play the games. I'm hoping the kids from Huntland can make some noise!
  2. Brent was tough tonight; it's finally a little warmer. One hit shutout. He had at least 10K's. We must have had 15 hits in five innings. We scored 9 in the first and never looked back. Tipps was classy, it could have been worse. Great job guy's.... keep playing one at bat at the time and one game at the time. Huntland wins 14 - 0
  3. Only Coach Tipps knows the answer to that question.
  4. We welcome the fine folks from Santa Fe down to Huntland tomorrow. We are expecting a good game. Huntland is playing well.

    CA @ Huntland

They played well tonight. It wasn't easy. Their first 3 or 4 hitters swing the bat and they didn't make an error. They pitched a lefty that changed speeds pretty well. I thought it was a well played game on both sides. Brent made a terrific play in the hole to end an inning and Adam hit a 3 run homer in the second after we had gone down in order in the first and their CF hit a solo HR with 2 outs in the first. Jimmy hit a solo in the 4th and an RBI double in the sixth (I think). Our pitching had 9K's, gave up 3 hits and 2 earned runs. It really was a great game. If our kids keep playing together we have a chance to be a good baseball team. Huntland wins 5 -3

    CA @ Huntland

Should be a good game. These teams have met more than once to decide the region. Now it's a district clash. Any thoughts out there on this contest?
  7. I'll also add that I thought Both Catchers played well, but Daniel probably saved 2 or 3 runs blocking it up last night. Nice job. I don't think we got Lamb out all night, he had a good game. Even though we lost, I saw some positives from our kids. they wouldn't quit and just kept clawing back into the game. Hopefully we will see you guy's in May.
  8. I can think of 10, but we stranded 13 baserunners. Y'all gave us plenty of chances to win, we just didn't get it done. You guy's are a good team. I saw the other side tonight. I knew you had good pitching with Mike & Ben. Your offense was impressive tonight. You hit a good pitcher too.
  9. It wasn't 1 or 2, but tonight it wouldn't have mattered. The umpire had a big strike zone (for both teams), give that to Matt and your in trouble. He had a good two seamer and 4 seamer with a pretty good duece. I'm sure he had at least 10 K's in 5 innings. That's why he will pitch D1.
  10. It wasn't a very good game. Tonight Page was the best team and Matt pitched very well. You guy's came to play, nice job. I don't know what it is about playing y'all but it was cold again, just like last year. We'll try and give you a better game when we see you at your tourny. Order up some warm weather!
  11. Amen! Jimmy has been hurt most of the pre-season and is NOT the reason the team is winning. If they ALL keep playing, they have a chance to be pretty good. His Dad
  12. Your the same guy that said Huntland beat your JV. I saw your game against Tullahoma, some of the same kids played both games. Curious... You will have your hands full with Forrest. Lamb, Albarran, Pratt, Joyce all can hit. People are always pointing to Mike and Ben, rightfully so but they seemed to have better chemistry as a team. They looked rusty as did MC when we played them. That's what preseaeson is for. Ben maybe throwing harder than Mike. We scored more than them, but they gave us a couple with mistakes. Good luck to both teams you have a chance to do well in 06. I hope Huntland keeps improving. We aren't a good team yet, but we have a chance to be.
  13. Thanks Daa21.... you guy's have a good team. Good luck to y'all as well.
  14. Get a clue or better said come watch them play. They don't have any superstars just a pretty good team. Cascade, Forrest and Marshall County I believe would disagree with you. They won 21 games last year and lost one starter.
  15. I can't imagine anyone in Class A having better 1&2 starters than Forrest. We scrimmaged them today (Huntland) at their place. Minor and Skelley both are over 90. Chapel Hill will be very, very good.
  16. They are tough; they beat us 1-0 in the tourny last year. We lost 1 starter from last years team. We expect Columbia Academy to fill the void left by Chapel Hill in the district.
  17. Huntland had 3 last week. We edged Cascade at home and Marshall County @ Tullahoma and halved with Lavergne. I think we go up and visit our friends in Chapel Hill this week. The hornets may be pretty good....

    New 11A

They have a good coach; he gets em ready. I would look for young and scrappy.

    New 11A

I would think Richland and Columbia Academy would be, although Moore Co advanced from the middle of the pack last year. Culleoka and Huntland should be pretty good too. I'm looking forward to the new look district.
  20. Jimmy Cole from Huntland signed Wednesday with West Alabama. I suspect more kids from Regions 6A/5A have or will sign soon. Both Regions had some kids who can play.
  21. Is there anyone out there that will play Huntland in a bowl game?
  22. Can it happen? You bet. Probably won't, only because of Jo Byrns. I'll tell you this though, If JB thinks they will just show up and beat Wayne County it will be a sweep.
  23. Our kids played very hard tonight ... played like a team. CA played their starters until the end and it wasn't enough. I heard tonight we are the only team in the state, any classification that has a 7-3 record and is not going to the playoff's. I left Columbia proud of our team. Good luck to 6A in the playoff's.
  24. We think we can play with them or anyone else in the region for that matter. CA just happens to be last. I have a feeling this region will do well in the palyoff's, I for one hope so. We lost our QB for the year before the season and it hurt us. The kids who have played there are doing their best I'm sure, we just never got a mix going this year (as you pointed out). It's been dificult ....
