I seriously doubt that Aydelott will run up the score but the players on the field may very well (after building a big lead) turn a "routine running play to eat up the clock" play into a huge gain or TD just because they are po'd. I agree with LOD, the vandalism has got to stop, trash talk to the newspapers and to the other players all you want but the acts of destruction needs to end or the board will seriously look at putting a stop to it by shutting down the sports. I am a little surprised that Riverdale didn't have SRO or some sort of security around the school after Chief-win-em-all was vandalized. I know that is extra unbudgeted costs for the school but something could be worked out. LaVergne had a few members of the QB club hanging out at Freedom Field last year while the LaVergne/Smyrna Freshman game was being played at Smyrna. It paid off when some Smyrna students showed up at LaVergne's field but they were busted before they could do anythiing to the field. (Should have had someone at both fields this year I guess).

I didn't say that Shad shouldn't have that must trust in Gray, I was saying if he did have that must trust in him then that is pretty cool. Admit it, how many high school QB's are allowed to call their own plays or even have the option to call audibles? I would like to see that more myself from other teams but I am not going to hold my breath on that one.

82cat I agree with you (even though you are a Smyrna fan, LOL) Seriously, I agree that apparently that logic of waiting for the defense to line up isn't working very well. I say run a true no huddle or just huddle up after every play. Have a little trust in your QB to read the defense and possibly even call an audible if he doesn't like what he sees. I am curious also, I heard on 104.5 last Friday night that Sonny Gray is calling the plays himself for Smyrna, is that true? If so, that's cool that Coach Shadowens has that must trust in him. Your logic sounds good for about, oh say 1 or 2 games. If the other coaches are paying any attention then they pick up on that pretty quick and have their defense called in but the guys just kind of hang around in the backfield until the offensive play is called in or they line up in a different defense than what they are really going to play and then switch around at the last second. I seen that happen alot in the latter half of last season against LaVergne. The part you stated about "if they were trying to go fast by no huddling, why does it takes so long to get the play in?" That was my point exactly. I know that Coach Hester is NOT stupid and I stated that in my last post. I don't see any advantage to not huddling while taking so long to call in a play. I think they should call in a pass and run play as soon as the last play was whistled dead and let the QB decide which to call, granted this would not work with all teams as some QB;s wouldn't feel comfortable reading the defenses.

I will go with LaVergne in this close game. One big change I woould like to see though is this, If LaVergne wants to run the no huddle and run it effectively, they have got to get the plays called in to A-Rod quicker. The defense still has time to swap out players and adjust to the offensive setup by taking 15+ seconds to call in a play. I am NOT dogging on Coach Hester's play calling just the amouont of time it takes to get the play signalled to A-Rod. I am unsure of how much the coaches trust A-Rod's judgement to reading defense's but my suggestion would be to give A-Rod several different plays before the offensive series starts and let him call the play and if he doesn't like the defensive setup, call an audible. I know, I know, most people are going to say this is high school and these kids are not to that level to run the offense themselves. Just put the opportunity in A-Rod's hands for a series or two early in the game and see how it goes. It was working great at the early on of last season then the calls came in slower and slower. The whole idea of the no huddle is wear out the defense and you obviously can't do that when they have time to sub between players. Again, this is just my opinion and I mean no disrespect to Hester or any of the coaches at LaVergne but I honestly think they need to speed up the offense to be more effective with the no huddle. Congrats to LaVergne on the W last Friday and I will be in Lebanon this Friday rooting for the Wolverines again.

I agree with you bubba, NONE of that should have happened. I have already been hearing it was payback from this school or that school but regardless it should have never happened. Whichever school was retaliating should have been the one to show class and say, we'll settle this score on the field Friday night and show you what we think of you vandalizing our school property. Neither group of vandals are innocent. I support the Lavergne football team but this is just insane. Trash talk or whatever you want to do verbally but leave the physical stuff for the field on game night. I wondered myself why they had not posted guards at each field to keep this from happening because we all know this was not the first time something like this ever happened. As much as I have been looking forward to this game for quite some time now, one thing that might wake these kids up is to forfeit the game and give both teams a loss. Now who wants to vandalize someone else's property. I know we don't know exactly who did the damage from each school but we can be pretty sure it was a mixture of students and student atheletes. I hope for an exciting game tonight with no injuries.

OK, Sorry but this is probably old news to most of you on CoachT but I haven't had the time to get here much these last few months but can someone explain the Sam Youree move to Smyrna to me? Anyone know the reasons behind it and how was he eligible after transferring in the same region?

I cannot understand any excuse that could possibly be thought up for doing something like this, my guess would be it basically comes down to immaturity and/or jealousy for whatever reason. I hope they catch the vandals and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law and then the judge can add some humiliation (especially if they are from another school) by making them "guard" the statue at ALL Riverdale home games after working as laborers for the crew that does the repairs on Chief-win-em-all. I seen in the DNJ this morning where Julian Wright, DL for LaVergne, is going to TSU. I also heard "SPECULATION" that Brandon Bather may be going to Louisville. I will post more as I find out for sure.

Hate to change the subject but I enjoy this group of posters, LOD, 2P, 82Cat etc. My question is, has any of y'all ever heard of the King Kamehameha Pigskin classic in Hawaii? If so, has anyone and/or their son been involved in it?

LOD, I honestly haven't dug very deep into the current zoning of the LaVergne/Smyrna borders as they are now. Referencing your statement about anything south of Sam Ridley is Smyrna, any idea how far west that goes? I live south of Sam Ridley and west of I-24 with a Smyrna address but my kids are zoned for Rock Springs Elementary, Rock Springs Middle and LaVergne High. I am just curious if anyone knows for sure where the "lines" are in this area. I realize it is an ever changing boundaries. Anyway, I can't comment on anything about the "super" and the past around this area as I didn't live in this area until several years ago.

CAT As a matter of fact, I am fairly new to this area, not Tennessee but to this area. I stand corrected on the both teams doing pranks to the other as I do not doubt that is true, I was speaking of the last 2 years I have been involved with the LHS high school team since my son started playing for them. Yes, it could be alot worse also as to what they do to each others fields etc. I am sure there are alot of school rivalries that things are much much worse. I was just kidding about the rezoning thing, thats why I put LOL afterwards. Rezoning is a never ending process it seems and I am sure that will never change.

This should be a great game to see, WC, one word of advice. Watch out for # 20 Wolf. He is an awesome running back and very hard to tackle. He hits the hole fast and obviously has some incredible leg strength. Their db's are also good, it didn't help that A-Rod was having an off night either. Cookeville really isn't that "big" of a team but everyone knows....speed kills.

LOD, What grass? LOL It is all dead already. It is a brown field with a few small spots of green hanging on. I was a little shocked at the lines and yard numbers though, they definitely looked like they had not been repainted for the game. Some of the lines were kind of difficult to see, I guess I expected more since it was a playoff game but overall it is a nice facility.

CAT Where did you ever read that LaVergne was a dark horse to win the state? I read a few columns where they "might" go deeper into the playoffs than 1st round but never seen anything about them winning state. As for the talk about LaVergne beating Smyrna the next time they play, that is expected at all times when you are referring to a rivalry like this one. It has been a while since I have seen a rivalry with this much tension and I like it. The only thing I don't care for in this rivalry is how every year some of the Smyrna players and fans feel the need to come to LaVergnes field and deface property and spray paint everything they can with "SHS" the week before the game. Of course this year they got busted. I am all for a very intense rivalry game but they should really leave the juvenile behavior out of it. Maybe LaVergne done to well this season, now the Rutherford county school board is wanting to rezone and send some of the students to Smyrna and Blackman because of overcrowding. LOL
