  1. My daughter became a keeper about 6 years ago, so I tried to do some research on shots and saves. There are 2 catgories A "shot on goal" is the only thing a keeper can get credit for. A "shot on goal" has to have a resonable change of being a goal. A shot can be credited to a player that is making an attempt to score but has no chance of going in. For example a ball off the cross bar is not a shot on goal, and the keeper does not get credit for a save. Keeper also get no credit for stopping crosses, punch outs ect... This is why keeper stats can be very misleading. If you look at college stats, Shots on Goal should equal saves + Goals

  2. mont. central play FRA 2 years ago and only got the ball on there side of the field once!!!! but i do give good luck to both teams!

The good news is with the wind blowing the way it is, I'm sure that the Fairview Keeper will get the ball past midfield for at least a half

  3. does anyone have the results for districts 2, 3, 10, 14, 15, and 16 in a/aa

    Fairview defeats Clacksville Acdmy 1 - 0 (Pk's 3 - 2)

  4. First of all, Saprissista, just because you haven't seen MC players playing club doesn't mean that they don't. Second of all, what would have been wrong with a Harpeth vs. MC final?? What?? No Fairview?? Thirdly, I would say it was a fluke that you guys won. Granted, I know that both teams played in the same conditions, but honestly, MC had more shots on goal, kept the ball mostly on your side of the field, and MC definitely wasn't fouling every chance they got. They just couldn't put it in the net, but they had you guys on your heals. And what's with marking a key player like Michelle Johnson (#17)?? Couldn't play her straight up?? Frankly, I can't wait till tomorrow at 11 because CA is going to take it to you, so get ready for them!!

Marking your best player is called smart soccer. Over the last 2 years each team scored 3 goals each. Pretty evan matches. MC had a man advantage for 23 minutes, couldn't score and gave up a goal. The game was no fluke. Two good teams played a very tough game.

  5. h2odog, i have no idea who you are...but we lost tonight and you made my night. I'm sure you will raise the spirits of a lot of my girls as well. I appreciate every word you said. Thanks.

MC played a great game tonight, as they did last week. Weather had a impact on the game. Fairview made some adjustments on defense and worked a little better on offense. There should be no rip on the season MC had, bad luck on district tournament pairings. Wish Fairview and MC would have played the finals.

  6. There are some great keepers mentioned here. There are great keepers that play in front of great defenses, and then there are those that get shot at from every direction and take it very heavily on their sholders without a front defense to screen them. I don't put ODP as the final judgement, for a multitude of reasons, in fact I think of it as a none factor. I've seen several of the keepers mentioned here and they are all good. I would also say that I have seen some, not mentioned here, that are remarkable and potentially all-state material. Personally, of the ones I have seen, I have a great deal of respect for the way Tessa Williams plays for Centenial. Her courage and tenacity are only two of her great qualities. There are bigger, and probably faster keepers, but she has range, she will challenge any player, she readily gives up her body to stop the play, she has a good grasp of when to come out and when to lay back, and she does a good job of directing the defense in front of her. If she was a few inches taller I think the colleges would be all over her, but if they are smart someone will grab her...she can play in college., and she'll give it everything she has.

:P I'm sure you are correct. I'm sure no college coaches care about ODP. Even though this is their regular season, I'm sure they are coming out watching high school games.

  7. add lauren paul of jp2 and katherine baltz of tullahoma both have ten shutouts paul has shutouts over ooltewah, ccs and fra and baltz has one over baylor which is their only shutout this season

:thumb: Lauren plays with a great team (JPII). I think Franklin is rebuilding. I'm pretty sure the Tayrn and Lauren playded on same club team, with Tayrn getting most of the work at crunch time. Could be injuries, I'm sure Lauren is a quality keeper though. I'll admit I have know idea about katherine. Does she play for a club team?

  8. Tessa Williams from Centenial is awesome. She will take a hit with no fear. She is good with judging that ball and makes some amazing saves.

Tessa gives it all no doubt, Kelly Dyer is the best in the state National ODP player, but please...you have a couple of great keepers in middle TN( check you ODP rosters) Tayrn Holland and Olivia Walter. Never saw Melissa play, do know she tried ODP but was either injured or quit.
