i was on that team and can remember that night like it was yesterday. cookevilles loud mouth tailback charles got nailed on the goal line as time expired and we held on to win 21-14 on the muddy field of warrior stadium. i was just a freshman but got to play on special teams and come in on long yardage situations on defence as the nickel back. jason strode blasted the cavs defence for 160 yards and 3 touchdowns. later on the next week i read the cookeville paper and in a interview with phillip charles he said he lost his footing, lol yea he lost it right when he got nailed by our best defensive player jason walker. its hard to beat any team that dresses double the kids you do.

i saw woods play in a playoff game at smyrna when he was a junior, it was the game before the champinship and his ankle was semi sprang. he raped smyrna that night badly. cleveland only brought him in when they needed him and he always delievered. you are right, this guy was prob the best rb i have seen in high school in tennessee. 2 years later the team i was playing for had to go to cleveland and play them and i was starting strong saftey, they had tony styles and demetrius fields and in my opinion neither of them were on woods level. we played them again the next year and shut fields down and almost pulled off the upset but came up 6 points short.

what ever happened to this guy, he played for lavernge 5 or 6 years ago? this cat was awsome, i played against him his freshman and sophmore year and he shreaded us. anyone know what happened to him? also there was a awsome free saftey on that team named mario kelso, that guy played the saftey position better than any high school player i ever saw.

its been rumored that buckner is practicing this week and will play, with him and lewis healthy, there aren't many teams that will be able to handle them, what is your opinion ??

 

they will handle warren county by 2 or 3 touchdownd but there are plenty of teams that can handle sparta no matter who plays. i played for sparta 5 years ago, the last year jeff arnette coached and id love to see them get it together but im not holding my breath. its hard to compete when you dress 30-35 players and the team you are playing dresses 75-80 players who are just as talanted if not more so than the 35 you dress out. my prediction is they win 3 games total, the one they won last week, the vs warren and the hickman game and thats it, 3-7. hillwood, hillsboro, and shelbyville will all beat sparta.
