  1. We are not he only school that host a region tourney there are other schools in different regions. Im sure those other schools have the same complaint.....I have no qualms having the kids play at a neutral site. If the people in charge of deciding where it is played will change it if they see fit.

Yeah just saying im sure this is happening all over the state. BTW I just read the JC- Crange thread they have already been talking about this. Didnt mean nothing bad towards H2O but it should be held at a neutral site.
  2. Lets see, you admit you were trying to foul and cant understand why an intentional foul was called. hmmmmm

I am not even from Watertown and I laugh at this. I was at the game, it was the correct call. JC did a great job fighting back and showing a lot of heart but the refs had nothing to do with the outcome.

The question I have is .....why is a school hosting a Region Tourn. at their school ?? I know every other year JC - CLAY- PICKETT ETC ETC play at a neutral site when the Region starts...Livingston Academy. And they also play at LA during the District Tourn. as well. Big advantage and also the refs should be from a different Region. Just asking !!! Looks like Lebanon or a school down that way could host this tourney every other year ???
  3. Postie is a closet SC fan. I hope he just stays in the closet.

Good one Glover. Postman as well everyone in the area knows what kind of program SC has had thru the yrs. He about like everyone else just trying to get a rise from you guys. Which is what makes this site fun. The bickering from yr to yr has been funny as .... looking forward to football already.

Jimmy Maynord has raised the bar even higher during his tenure. imallin said it best though...SC football has gone about as high as it can go with their on kids. In order to take it to the next level combining with Gordonsville or going private is about the only option. And who wants that...Gordonsville and SC is the best game in town and has been for many moons. The Private issue is worse .....I know I wouldnt want to win watching kids from all over the state coming here. SC has one of the best programs in the state bar none.for their size. Who knows someday a kid may come along a once and a lifetime player like Cates was at LA and will win the big one for u guys. I know I have watched some dandy games at SC thru the yrs. The 04 game against Fulton will always stand out to me. The Owls was in it till the end of the 3rd and a incomplete pass at the goal line on 4th down took the wind out of their sails.

Just hope that you all can find a good fit for your kids. Postman good luck to your Eagles they had a pretty good yr just didnt have the Athletes to compete ( just like everyone else in the area) when you got deep into the bracket.

Still like Steve Robbins to direct the Owls until you guys can get you a homey like the RB that played for SC that coaches at Alcoa Hackett or Tackett cant rem his name. He is learning from one of the best in Rankin.

  4. Some people forget Alcoa was winning Gold Balls before Rankin got there on talent alone. He instilled the discipline. There is this thing called "Open Zoning" in Blount County. Unless Smith County does the same thing, there is no "Next Level" for a coaching staff to take SC to. The next HC here will be expected to MAINTAIN success but you're a fool if you think there is a next level. We could always go Private / Funding then there would be a Next Level it would just be with kids not from here. For 14 years this staff has got the absolute most out of their players. Round of Applause!!

Agree big man...how you doing. Great point !! In order to go to the next level it would require an open zone for Smith Co. Or going private. I really do believe it will take some pretty darn good coaches, ones that would commit the time and effort like Jimmy and his staff have done while at SC. Wish Jimmy the best at Cookeville and wish the Owls good luck in finding that right person to carry on one of the best programs in the state.
  5. Hey Chair - Glad to hear from you. Hope the health problems are all better. LA will be very competitive next year.

Hey Scoot whats up. Yeah I'm hanging in there for an old man. As for LA, I believe they will have a good team in a yr or 2. They lost just about their whole OL. McCoin and Hayes are gone off to the next level as will big Linder on the DL. Ronnie's lil brother will be a bright spot for the Cats the next 3 yrs as a RB. I just hope that the Cats don't get 1 dimensional and depend on Linder to carry the load. We have a great REC. in Hollars that was a freshman this past yr. If the Cats can get the ball to him it will ease the load a lot. I wish you all the best in your coaching search.
  6. Yes...RC..Steve is the man in charge of the search for the new coach. Unless he recommends himself...and I don't think he wants it...I think he will find the right fit.

Hey Twan...ok thanks . I talked to Steve back earlier in the year at White Co./ Smith Co. game. He told me then that if Jimmy ever did step down that he would consider the job. Either way you Smith Co. ppl are getting LA's best seems like. Steve is a great person and will give you all his best. Good luck on the search for a coach.
  7. I believe if my memory serves me right, that Steve was on the staff at Boyd when the Owls went down to Boyd in the play-offs for a couple yrs. Believe the Owls split with Boyd but could be wrong. Owls might have won 2 out of the 3 times they played Boyd ? Either way Owls fans know what kind of team Boyd had during those yrs.

  8. I think that would be something to consider. Only problem is the headache some create when a principal takes on the hc role also. Some folk around here would say he gave special treatment to his players during school. Etc. etc. probably a bunch of malarky but definately a headache for any hc/principal.

Very true nut...but I believe you can search high and low and you want find many coaches that has his credentials, especially the ones that are just beginning to look for their 1st head coaching job.
  9. What about Steve Robbins the recently hired principal at Smith Co. He was an LA guy back in the 90's when LA knocked on the door of a state title. Steve left Livingston and went to GA. and coached their several yrs before landing at Boyd Buch. HS where he coached LB'S and was Defensive Cord. several yrs. I believe Boyd might have won a state title during Steve's tenure there not sure though. IMO Steve would be the right choice since he is already in the system and his experience. He also coaches Baseball and played at Cumberland out of HS. A fine person with great christian morals. Steve would not only be a great coach for the Owls but his influence on the kids would be priceless. Sign up for the job "Policy Holder".

  10. Fentress County lost a basketball coaching legend on New Years Day with the passing of Coach Homer Lee Linder Jr. Arrangements will be made sometime on Wednesday (1/2/13). Please keep his wife and family in your prayers!

My prayers go out to his family, may the Lord give them strength and comfort. A great man, a great coach, a great person and great friend. Lee will be missed. RIP Lee..... a long time friend.
  11. Yea ..he has just came into his own this year ... confidence has carried him .. he just needed to trust the hole and hit it and if not bounce it and go ... I have always and continue to be impressed with how hard the LA kids play ... the year that they won state and we were lucky enough to beat them at Fulton .. they were the best tacklers I had seen in high school ball .. the Cates kid and the others wrapped up ball carriers as well as I had ever seen ... I was afaid you guys were gonna take a few more shots down field ... and on a slippery foeld a DB can fall down etc ...... how does it look for next yesr .. how many seniors were there on LA team etc ... #8 and #2 ??

LA loses several not sure how many. Yes #2 and #8 have signed with Tennessee Tech is what I have heard. #67 DE Linder Tech may sign him as well not sure though. There are a few others that could ink somewhere else but not sure if thats what they want to do.

Tadvols good luck to Fulton ....hope you all bring the Gold Ball back east.

  12. the facts LA did not play but 3 good teams in season SC WH DC so if you want gold ball play tough games all season long let face the facts Cates come once in a lifetime good night go WILDCATS

Agree with that zst but you can't help who is in your district. I know LA probably wouldn't have won that Gold Ball in 05 if they hadn't played in the Region with AE-Fulton-Catholic and the others. It prepared them for the play-offs. And they knew what to expect by playing those teams all year. On the other hand like you said LA didn't play a strong schedule with the exception of White House- Dekalb and Smith Co. And then having to face a Fulton was just to much for the Cats. Even though LA had their chances to make a game of it and possibly win if it hadn't been for the turnovers. But Fulton wasn't gonna let Brock beat them like he has everyone else this year. They kept him in check the whole game.
  13. Congrats to the LA Wildcats on a great year. Fulton just proved to be the best team last night. They kept Brock bottled up and that was the biggest difference in the game to me. This wasn't one of the better teams that the Falcons have fielded in past years. The Cats had chances to make a game of it but turned it over several times. You can't turn it over against a team like Fulton because they will make you pay. Good luck Fulton on a well played game and continued success in the play-offs.

  14. Here's my take. LA has had a great year and so has Fulton. I feel quite certain LA hasn't seen anyone like this Fulton team. Can LA line up with 8 and 2 and ram it down Fulton's throat? Possible but not probable. 8 can throw it but can his WR's get seperation? I would think Fulton has looked hard at what LA's bread and butter is. AKA #8 and #2. Both really good athletes. On the opposite side Fulton is fast and faster. LA has not seen speed like they are going to see in this game. Does that mean LA CAN'T win? NO. Will it be tough to win for LA? I think so. Fulton has 4 SO's this year and maybe none of those teams were as good as LA. If the Cats get off to a good start, maybe they can hang in. I've got to think Fulton is really good though. Prediction:

    Fulton 35

    LA 21

The CATS can win this game not a doubt in my mind. But it's not gonna be an easy chore. Fulton has speed all over the field. And they pretty much just run the football to my knowledge. Last week #5 for them rushed for 250 something yrds. vs.Greenville. So why would you throw the ball with those type #'s. Does Fulton even have a QB that can throw it ?? I'm sure they don't have a kicker cause I have never seen them with one. But those 2 pt. conversions add up pretty fast I guess.

The CATS just need to do the things that they have done all yr and that is our line come off and mash their defense and run. And let Brock free-lance just like he has done all year. When and if that fails our D must run to the ball and be aggressive and get after some people. Don't let them come down here and push us around.

Got some news for the Fulton faithful and it could or could not matter in the outcome of the game. But I'm saying it will #8 and #2 arent the only players we have and I have a feeling that you will see first hand what I'm talking about.

  15. Oh yes, I will be at the game. I will be the guy holding your wager after the game is over. I have been wrong three times against LA. The other times and I must say many other times I have been correct. I just pick by the numbers. I don't make it up.

Well if your going by numbers then Fulton is actually 16 points rated over the CATS. I never put a whole lot into numbers myself but this game is going to be closer than many of you predict. The Cats just need to get off to a good start and dont be intimdated by the speed of Fulton.
  16. Fulton is much much better than last year. I have Fulton by 27. The teams have some games one could look at to give a better understanding of how this game should play out. Gibbs lost to Fulton 48-10, Gibbs beat Grainger 31-12. Fulton Beat Carter twice. 53-0, and 55-0, Carter beat Grainger 48-14, Greeneville beat Grainger 48-7, Fulton beat Greeeneville 42-14. This does not mean crap I know, but my money is going to be on Fulton. Just because they can score and score quick from many different angles. Wilson Cates was a great player and that team was destined to win. Great story.

    From my old school days.

The Wildcats from Livingston Academy will not be gracious host to the high flying Fulton Falcons from the NorthEast side of the K-Town. The Falcons from Fulton make that long trek down I-40 to take on the old HogEye of Livingston Academy. While the Wildcats are on a 5 game winning streak and looking to catch the Falcons sleeping in the nest, the Falcons are looking to keep their 3 game wins going. Physical up front will be the way that will have to carry the Wildcats to get the upset, but Falcons just fly much much faster and get their prey before you know it. Fulton by 27.

I would love to meet you at the game to make a lil wager on that prediction but you probably wont be at the game. I would take LA and 27 just about against anybody.
  17. Livingston has beat Fulton before and they can do it this year.

    Go wildcats.

croz I believe we have played Fulton 5 times.....in 05 they beat us 18 to 7....06 it was 54 to 0....07 it was 36 to 0....08 it was 39 to 11. Last year they eliminated us in 2nd rd. 38 to 12.

This is a new year and we both have gotten better. But Fulton will have to play I promise you that, it WON'T be a cakewalk.

Good luck to the Tigers !!!

  18. The Livingston team is tired of losing to Fulton. Fulton had better be extra special.

Agree Cat were tired of losing and Fulton is extra special. They definitely will be FAST something we are not accustomed to thats for sure. But we are not slow by no means either. We have some of the best skilled position players that has ever played here and a good solid line plus a real good kicker something Fulton has lacked in years past. I look for this to be a real good game this time around. But we can't take a play off at anytime or it could get ugly like last year. All we need to do is do what we do best and see if Fulton can stop us.
  19. Well looks like I get my wish LA-Fulton this time at home. Again the guys up front are going to determine just how well we do against a very dangerous Fulton squad. Don't think LA has ever beaten Fulton to my knowledge and we probably wouldnt have that gold ball in the trophy case if Catholic hadnt beaten them in 05. Best game we ever played them was last game of the year in 05 and we were inside the 10 going for the win. Down 12 to 7 and a false start penalty kept us from probably winning that game. Fulton took over on downs and scored a meanless td making it 18 to 7. Next 3 yrs LA took a good ole woodshed whipping from the Falcons.

Intimidation has always played a big part of the down fall for the Cats against teams like Fulton , but the 05 squad stood toe to toe with those Knoxville schools and thus a state crown. Next weeks game we will see how well the Cats can handle the pressure early and what impact it will have on the rest of the game. I have tons of respect for Fulton but they put their pads on just like we do one leg at a time. I see no reason why we can't win this game unless we duck and shy away from them. Just lay it on the line CATS and leave your all on the field. Start to finish this will be a hard game but thats why we play.

Congrats to the Dekalb Co. Tigers on a great season. Coach Trapp and his staff have laid a solid foundation for your alls program. Keep building and getting better your times coming !!!.

  20. So your saying he is getting recruited to play QB?!? I would just about bet anything you want that he won't play college QB at that level. Maybe a smaller school......same thing for Phillips.

Have no knowledge of which schools have been courting McCoin or Hayes, but I do know IMHO that both can play at Tech. After HS Creed will play football thats a given. Brock IMHO should pursue Basketball. Less wear and tear and could be injured for life. And talk about breaking some ankles. Brock is just as dangerous on the court as he is on the field. Just saying !!!
  21. Doubt he will be 100% this week. I really thought a few times that he was going to be pulled out for the rest of the game against Sequoyah, but every time he limped back out there and kept going.

Makes no difference because the Cats will still have to play a good game to win. One let down could change the outcome in a hurry and your season could be over. I have all the respect in the world for Dekalb as I'm sure the coaches and players do. 2 weeks ago or yrs past don't mean much come friday night, you still have to play the game. But I have a lot of confidence that LA will win but nothing is guaranteed. Would like to see the Cats get a chance to play Fulton at home and make up for the loss last year on their field. But they have to get by Greenville. And what a shot in the arm for the Dekalb program if they get a chance to advance to 3rd round. All the hard work and effort however will not be in vain for either team that loses because both programs are the winners. And don't forget about the fans we are the winners too.
