  1. Sounds about like Greeneville. Not quite like Greeneville. We do have 4 redlights in town now though!!! lol
  2. 2 years ago Devils went to 4a state quarter finals and last year hosted maryville in the 4a state semi finals...lookin to go even deeper this year... I'll give Greeneville#1 credit for being our biggest horn blower, but this just ain't the year to be that hopeful. We have a good team, but not a great team. No where near last year's or the year before. There's a very vital element missing, but I'm not going to expose that on coacht. No, its not coaching nor a particular position or player. Its an abstract that is not present yet on this year's team. But, there's still some regular season left and we'll just have to see what falls in place before playoff time. IMO, depending upon how several pieces come together, next year and the next may be the Devil's best opportunity in the near future at a state run. But, that's down the road. Let's wish for a good, hard-nosed, injury-free game this week. I'm sure both teams will play their hearts out. Now, let's talk about that pizza and those wings. Jrod is right...for once! lol The Oasis has great pizza and wings...and if you're not with the kids...some postgame beverages!! lol Haymaker's is really good (right behind hardee's in harrogate), Heavy's Off The River, fantastic bbq!!!! (It's in a hole in the wall type of place right across the street from Hardee's and in between Shoney's and a gas station...can't miss it) And down in Cumberland Gap...Webb's Country Kitchen is some great down home cookin!!! (Stay on 25E towards middlesboro and tunnel, turn right heading towards VA, and take first or second left and it's down in there somewhere...lol...not hard to find your way in or out of the gap!! lol) There are also some chain places in middlesboro which is about 10 min on up the road. I've kinda got a feeling this is gonna be a good game as well. CG will definitely have to play their best game of the season in order to compete though. That's just the way it is. Hope you guys enjoy your time in our little town...not much to offer, but there are some good little places to eat and some good people and some pretty good football as well!!!!
  3. Thanks for the info jones. Yes i've read about your d-line and that has me nervous for the guys! lol CG's special teams have been, like everything else it seems this year, up and down. I'm hoping it's a good game and that CG can at least give the devils a battle! I know they'll play their butts off against them, but sometimes that just ain't enough. CG will need a lot of things to go their way for them to pull this one off...i do, however, expect it to be a competitive game! We are looking forward to having you guys down as well! Be safe!
  4. Do we really have to keep looking at this drivel for two more years from this guy? I mean, by his name it says footballer 08...hopefully he just learned how to use a keyboard last year and is a senior this year. This guy is a piece of work! It kinda makes you feel sorry for the people that really are sunbright fans "cuz tis gy iz un imburrusmint"! Take an English class kid!!!
  5. Yeah that's pretty much what happened barb. But it was kind of misleading...CG would play good for a couple of plays then give up the big play. Blown assignments and missed tackles. I was very disappointed with the panthers in that game because it appeared that they laid down. We're not very deep and our lack of offense that night didn't help the d out much either. It appears that the coaches have gotten that out of them though since that game. We are a young team and make young team mistakes. CG's defense has had it's moments, both good and bad, this season. I just hope they can eliminate the big plays and third down conversions the rest of the year...especially this week! How much size on the line? The two guards, as mr. chs stated, are about 300, the center is 260ish, and the 2 tackles are not big but quick. They are around 220-230 i would guess. And unlike mr. chs states, the two guards do more than fall on the ground. The o-line has been pretty solid for the most part this year. The d-line...well, has had it's ups and downs. And as for mr. chs, you should be worrying about west greene and not CG. You dont play us for another week...so save your crap talk for then. I'm sure all CG is worried about is Greeneville this week and not Claiborne and it's #8 state ranking, which will not hold up after this week if you overlook west greene. Now, barb, what can you tell us about the G'ville fronts?

  7. Thanks barb. Hate to hear about your guy getting hurt...hopefully he will get better soon. Hey barb, i've been looking forward to this all year!! lol I really enjoy reading your posts and am looking forward to hearing your insight for this week's game as the week progresses! Hopefully we can keep this forum fun and that this will be a good game this week!
  8. Shipley. His system suits him better and allows him to do a lot more. Plus he plays mlb and is a force on defense as well. This kid never rests. Susong is a heckuva player, dont get me wrong. But he gets breaks and only really has to focus on one side. Shipley plays both ways and rarely leves the field, so i would give the nod to him. If im not mistakin Susong plays both ways too. Well he did against Greeneville at lease. He played like Safety or linebacker??? I'm not sure but i know he played both ways Anyone Heard anything about Spradlin??? Doesn't really matter which one of them is better. I think you are right though about Susong...I guess i forgot! They are both pretty good qb's...but like i said, it really doesnt matter, because this week it's CG vs. G'ville. Hey Greeneville fans, tell us about some of your all's playmakers. I'm sure you guys have plenty on both sides of the ball!! I always like to see who the go to guys are though...makes it really fun as a fan!

  10. Hello Veerman, Nice to meet ya. Very well said. I, for one, really enjoyed reading your post. I too would like to see this become a good rivalry. At the risk of sounding arrogant (which I do NOT intend to sound) everyone already knows Greeneville is the team to beat in this region. But, I hold to what I said earlier this year that some teams in this region will become stronger because of Greeneville's presence. I would love to see CG be one of them. Please don't let one or two on here taint your view of all Greene Devils. But, now for the most important thing...I know there's a game between us Friday night, but that's secondary. Whatcha got at the concession stands? See ya Friday. Nice to meet you as well Gdevil. Anybody with any sense knows that Greeneville is the team to beat in this district. The level they have been playing at over the past few years alone has shown that. CG has been getting stronger the past few years. They know if they ever want to make it far in the playoffs, the road goes through alcoa, and everyone knows what level that is. They played alcoa last year in the playoffs, and although got hammered, they did have over 200 yds of offense against them!! We always look for some kind of positive!! lol I'm glad to see a team of Greenville's caliber on the schedule because the kids know that there are no gimmes and it helps them prepare for, if theyre fortunate enough to make it, for the playoffs. CG is a hard team to gauge this year, but they do play hard. Hopefully they will be able to give the devils a game on friday! As for the concessions...the popcorn is awesome and the hot dogs are wonderful! The chili is hard to beat!!! Hope you guys have a safe trip down and enjoy your trip to CG'ville! I'm sure we'll talk more through the week! See ya Friday!
  11. Nice win last night CG. Now get ready for next week. You got a big game with you rtoughest opponent this year so far. Let's put some things together and keep working hard and get ready for them Greene Devils!!
  12. Ok, so most of us CG fans aren't going to get on here and talk trash with you guys about how we are going to beat you and how we are going to do this or that. You're not going to get someone's mythical uncle on here staing how so and so is going to "run all over you" and all this stuff. Cg is a classy program with a classy bunch of players and coaches. They are going to play you guys as hard as they can and whatever happens happens. You may beat them, but it won't be because of lack of effort or heart or determination. The fact is, CG is young this year. They play a ton of freshmen and sophomores. They have 5 seniors that play a lot and are great leaders for them. They are a gutsy bunch that will play their tails off for 4 qtrs. You guys will be treated great when you come to CG...and there is plenty of seating for all of you and if there's not, then there's plenty of fence to hang on! I'm looking forward to seeing your team as i've heard plenty about you guys. I'm sure you have a really good team. CG finally got going a little bit last night, albeit against a weak opponent, but we will take them however we can get them. You will receive good hospitality at CG and you wont come away disappointed. Our team does throw it around and our young recieving corps is getting better with every game. Our QB is a solid player and our rb is a tough cookie. Our o-line is a pretty good group with some size. Our offense is pretty good, but has struggled a bit as of late. Our defense has been a jeckyll and hyde sort of deal this year. When they are on, theyre pretty good, when theyre not, well...theyre not!! lol I expect our kids to be really prepared and really focused this week as they will know it will be the toughest game theyve played in so far this year. Win or lose, they will play their best!!! I'll give a prediction later on in the week. All i ask is let's keep this forum classy and not get into a peeing contest with each other. I wouldn't mind for this to become a nice little rivalry over the next few years!!!
  13. I hop the rest of the Panther faithful haven't given up on them yet!!! lol Not much talk about this one.
  14. Well it's back to the district again for the Panthers. They have a stretch of 3 straigh district games coming up and the first one is against Chuckey Doak. CG is in dire need of a win after dropping 3 straight. The last one being probably the most disappointing because it didn't even look like they tried. C'mon guys! The West Greene game was a hard fought contest...but against Gibbs it looked like they just laid down. But enough about the past...it's time to even the record up this week CG. Get yourselves in gear and get the job done. CD is usually pretty talented, but I don't know anything about them this year. Any info would be appreciated. I know they have played some close games. If CG can get something going, I like their chances in this one. If they are still stagnant on both sides...then it could be yet another long night. Hopefully the coaches and players have fixed some things. It all comes down to the guys on the field workin hard every play and giving it all they got for 48 minutes...so get it done CG. I believe in you guys! Good luck this week! CG - 28 CD - 7 Go Panthers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Finally Friday!!!! Woohooo!!!! To all the Gibbs faithful, have a safe trip up and we look forward to havin you guys at the Panther Den. I look for a hard hitting highly contested match-up tonight. I'm hopin CG can overcome the obstacles and pull out a W tonight. Either way, it should be a good night. Hopefully the rain will hold off til after the game. According to radar, I'm not so sure! Go get 'em CG...play your butts off tonight!! CG - 21 Gibbs - 14 In OT..... Go Panthers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. veerman...... please no more OT!!!!!!!! PLEEEEAAAAASE.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! good luck this Friday and tell those keep on keeping on boys to stay safe. Thanks for the good luck wishes play. I'm sure the guys will be safe. Word out of the panther camp is there are a bunch of them sick. I hope they get well by tomorrow!!! Either way, they will play their hearts out and give it all they got. They are a gutsy bunch to be so young. The future looks bright for CG. This year is far from over though...and if they continue to grow up and mature, they may surprise some folks this year. I'm still gonna stay with the Panthers in an upset tomorrow night...and sorry bigmomma...i'm predicting overtime!!!!! lol CG - 21 Gibbs - 14 In OT!! Go Panthers!!!!
  17. Good luck this week Buffs...from the CG Panthers!
  18. Well obviously i hope you are wrong!! I'm hoping that the panthers can get their offense charged up to where it was the first two weeks of the season. They were rollin! Then everything started going south. Very inconsistent. The word i'm hearing is that there are several players with the flu or flu-like symptoms. Can anyone tell me if that is true? If it is...gasp...just another bad break for CG! But anyway back to the game...if CG can get their o rollin and their d to step up, i truly believe they can pull out this win at home against Gibbs. Like you bigmomma...im hoping no rain too!!! It should be a fun week and can't wait to see Gibbs come to the Panther's Den. I'm really liking this new schedule...getting to see teams we aren't used to seeing. Makes things a lot more fun. It'll be even more fun if we win!! Hope you guys from Gibbs have a safe trip up and we are looking forward to having you. Look for a hard hitting fast paced game! Go Panthers!!!! CG - 21 Gibbs - 14
  19. Summer scrimmages mean absolutely nothing at this time of year. CG better know that they better bring it or they will get blown out. I heard the Gibbs/GP game was a barnburner. Didn't get over til after midnight??? Wow. I just hope the Panthers canfind it in themselves to play a complete game Friday. Someone said above the Gibbs was tough in the 4th qtr. That worries me because the panthers have struggled toward the end of games. Youth...lack of depth...i dont know...but whatever it is...i hope they can get it fixed and in a hurry. I still got a lot of faith and hope in the boys though and believe they can pull off an upset win this week against a good Gibbs team! CG - 21 Gibbs - 14 I hope not overtime either!!!
  20. The panthers are coming off two straight losses. Gibbs is coming off of two overtime losses. Both teams are looking to right the ship come friday. CG looked like they played harder this past friday, but there are still way too many mental errors and busts going on. The offense looked as if it was really going to start clicking and then a drop here and a missed block there and wham...it's like it died. Defensively, they looked a lot better. But it seemed like everytime they had the chance, West Greene would convert a 3rd down or CG would give up a big play because of a missed assignment or poor angle or whatever the case may be. Gibbs from what ive read or heard can be very explosive with their flexbone attack. Missed assignments this week and they're gone...no ifs ands or buts about it. CG has got to have better 2nd qtrs and 2nd halves. I don't know what the answer is, but Im sure the CG staff will have them ready to play on friday. CG gets the chance to play a pretty good 4a team out of knoxville. A win here would be good exposure for them. If our defense holds and the offense gets something going, i think CG can pull out the win. If not, then it could be a long night for the panthers. Best of luck Panthers...keep on keeping on boys...good things are bound to happen for you eventually! CG - 21 Gibbs - 14 Possibly in overtime!!!! Let's get things goin CG!!!!!!
  21. Congrats to west greene. You got us. You guys have got a good team and the best of luck to you guys the rest of the year. To Cg...keep your heads up. You played much better than you did last week. Keep on working hard and good things will come to you. Think about this one tonight, but come tomorrow...get yourselves focused on Gibbs. Keep on working hard and have a good week of practice guys. Keep on getting better!!!!!
  22. and exactly how do the refs allow a dry ball to be played if its raining..put a tiny little umbrella on the ball? i'd say the rain favor the run... I just fell out of my chair with laughter. If the refs allow a dry ball to be brought in from the sidelines every play or every other play. Next time barb, i'll be sure and say exactly what i mean. My apologies.
  23. Chance of rain I think. It's not rained much up here this week. Usually, rainy conditions favor the passing team as long as the refs allow a dry ball to be played. Receivers know where they're going...db's don't. Of course, you never can tell. I think the team that makes the fewest mistakes should come out on top in this one. I'm looking forward to it. Finally time for some Friday night footbawwwlllllll!!!! CG - 28 WG - 14 Go Panthers!!!!!!
