  1. We are looking to fill a couple dates on our calendar with Varsity and/or JV games or a tournament. March 24 and 25 and April 8 and 9. Contact Coach Russell at allenrussell@acs.ac
  2. AC won't overlook anyone. They can't afford to.
  3. In response to pay, it is likely that the Price twins make more but it could be under the table from the booster club or a private donor. As of 2011 the current head coach supplement in CC was 4000, with the assistant at 2000. Those figures may have changed but at the same time were extremely low compared with AC. Head coach in AC with 5 years experience is 10086. Assistant football coach at AC is 7733 with 5 years experience (per www.acs.ac financial page). These supplements are some of the higher in the state. A teacher with a masters degree such as the Price's, would make a little above 40k before supplements in AC. There are ways that the Price's are being compensated. They may also receive another funded supplement such as a weight lifting coach supplement. I do believe they were put on a 260 contract which would be where most of their "extra" money comes from. No doubt, CC will do what they can to keep them. Unfortunately there is only so much the school or school board can do to make that happen. This help would come from the community or booster club more than likely in secret. I wouldn't blame this community for doing what it could to keep them as they have been very successful this season and have been great for CC.
  4. Anderson County High School, Clinton TN
  5. Looking for games March 18,25,28 and April 16,19. Email Coach Freeman freeman@acs.ac
  6. Carolina Crazy obviously has lost his mind. Yes things are down a little in AC. Who in their right mind is going to pick CC over AC. Like Space said, those kids who care more about playing than winning. The fans are always negative. That's why they are sitting in the bleachers. It's easy to be negative and critical up there. Heck, they were fussing that we need to run the ball when Williams was throwing for 450 yds a game. Now that we are rusing for 250 plus, they have gripes about that. Things are just fine in AC. As far as being a coward and dropping down, call it what you will. Makes sense to me. When you have 300-400 less students you would want to play in a smaller classification. Anyone would do that. I have no ill will toward CC, and I respect what the Price guys are trying to do there. They did get beat by a (in Carolina Crazy opinion) a not so good AC team. By 36 mind you.
  7. Holding players out? First I have heard of that.
  8. Due to the Powell Play Day being cancelled we would like to find a couple of scrimmages for next week. Weather is supposed to be nice early in the week. If you are interested contact the school at 457-4716 and ask for Coach Freeman. You can also reach me at freeman@acs.ac or Twitter @ CoachFreeman_AC The tarp has been on since last night. Field is ready to go.
  9. It was my understanding that AC had their Principal, two Assistant Principals, and their AD at the game. The AD was the one trying to keep things from erupting. As it was said earlier, it is the home teams job of handling security and the crowd. I would agree that the visiting team should have a representative to help with their fans. (As AC did) This is an unfortunate situation that WILL result in a lengthy suspension that will effect OR the remainder of the year. You must keep your emotions in check. Oak Ridge was unable to do this. As a result, they will be losing more than just the student-athlete in question.
  10. He was ejected AND went into the stands. There is no excuse for these actions, kid or not.
  11. So much for teaching your kids how to handle adversity!
  12. I would lke to offer a suggestion that will fix the issue that occured at the b-ball game. Oak Ridge has multiple signs posted that directs fans where to sit. The incident Tuesday night could have easily been prevented if the home fans had been sitting in the correct area. Having been at the game (in very close proximity) I can tell you that no racial slurs were used. The ladies from AC did make the comment that "he needs to be ejected." This appeared to be enough to upset the mother and provoked her to turn around in the visitor section and respond. This would not have occured if they were sitting on the home side. This problem has the potential to occur again if the problem isn't rectified, Mr. Mullins. As for the player and his punishment, in the past players have received a year suspension from the TSSAA for going into the stands at a basketball game. (Shelbyville High School)
  13. This one will come down to turnovers!!! The team with the fewest wins.
  14. I would have to disagree that coaching is 90% of the game. It's the Jimmy's and Joe's, not x's and o's. I will agree that Clinton looked good on the field in uniform. Looks can be deceiving. I think the Clinton kids did quit a little in the second half. The program is in a little bit of a funk and it's hard to get programs out of that some times. The coaches at Clinton are good people. Who knows what the answer is. I know it is a whole lot easier to say what needs to be done when one is sitting behind their computer. Also, one that has no experience in the coaching field always seems to have the "best" ideas on what needs to be done. The Dragons need to whether the storm. This time last year the Clinton faithful were ready to vote Shattuck as President. O how quickly you forget. What have you dont for me lately, not last year. Right?
  15. I understand geographic location. Although TSSAA draws some funny lines. I do not understand how an 8-2 Anderson County gets a #4 seed in upper east TN quadrant. All projections late in the season show quadrant 2. How do the powers that be opt to take Catholic (6-4) out of quad 1 and place them in quad 2. Might I add all this is done this morning. Are they trying to protect their beloved Middle Tn teams (Columbia, Tullahoma). I want to remind everyone that AC was an automatic qualifier with a 2nd place finish. Tullahoma at 7-3 gets a 2 seed in quad 2. If AC plays well enough to win against a great MO West team, they are rewarded with Powell. I do not have an answer to yet another flawed system. I can't understand their reasoning. Why does Catholic not go to the quad that you have projected them to be in all along. You have swapped one #4 seed for another. I know there are other scenarios that are just as confusing as ours. Yes I am whinning about it. I'm going to get it all out of my system before the weekend is over. I think in the future that the TSSAA should release rationale with their playoff seedings. Let's make them explain their insanity. At least them we can be insane with them. I've said my piece. Thank you. Yes I realize our district was down this year.
  16. Great win for the mavs. I understand putting the starters back in when central closed the gap a little. The time-outs were silly with two minutes left. Joel should have let his young kids play some. It ended up costing him an injury and showed even more that they can't defend the pass. Go mavs!
  17. Mabe was missed on the field Friday night. He is a really good leader for the Mavs. IMO, he needs to step his play up some when he gets healthy. He has been doing do much standing around on defense. Taking plays off. If he doesn't, he may lose his job on defense to the Hamel kid. He has looked really impressive this year. Good luck to the Mavs this week. Hope they stay humble and hungry.
  18. I don't think Mo East wins this one, but I do believe it will be closer than many expect. Mo West did handled both Fulton and AC pretty well in the scrimmage. I hope AC doesn't base their season expectations on what happened in that scrimmage. The only way I would want to play Mo West again would be in the third or fourth round of the playoffs. As for Fulton, they always start slow. Never like playing them late in the season. AC 34-21
  19. QB is actually a senior, so he better look good. He has no excuse for not doing things well. Heard that Heritage had lost their QB right before the scrimmage and had to start a less experienced kid.
  20. Doesn't matter what is said on here about this scrimmage, bottom line: Heritage was over-matched.
  21. Looks like Columbia's home-cookin refs missed the bus. It's hard for them to win when the oppositions td's aren't getting called back. Congrats Beech!
