Will someone please explain the Father Ryan heavyweight situation? Who is the starter? Who will be wrestling at the state individuals tournament? Best I can tell, Lawrence weighs about 270 and looks like more of a contender. I saw Garrett (sp?) wrestle in Memphis and lose matches to the MUS (pinned 1st period) and CBHS (lost by points) heavyweights. I don't really have a horse in the race; I'm just wondering what's going on. Also, Tenn wrestling site seems confused about which one of these two is the starter as well.

Still and Green have alot of very good wrestlers they would have to beat first. Chances are one or both could get bumped to the consulations. (Riely,Garrett,Lyons,Gordon)

Didn't Riley (MBA) beat Green at state duals? Was it a fluke or should it happen again?

Just a few facts for Blaster:

McCallie, who lost to a 2A and 4A school, lost in the first round of DII playoffs. MBA, who got spanked in a scrimmage (note scrimmage) by riverdale, also lost in the first round.

This being the case, stop using these two teams to try to prove that DII is horrible. Truth is, your golden boys at Maryville were in a 3-3 war with Melrose (at halftime of the 4A championship game), who had only lost to... oh yea, a DII team.

And the 5A state champs this year had one loss.... to a DII team. I should point out that none of the above DII teams won their division... they were just in it.

Truth is, you could argue that DII doesn't have the best team in the state in it this year (you would be wrong). But no one can say they're second rate.

Is this just a AAAAA top ten ???? If so, I'll shut up. But if not, MARYVILLE # 1

I beg to differ. I'd say #1 this season was in DII, MUS.

I suppose the key difference between our posts is that I admitted to not knowing who Knox Catholic was. You, on the other hand, pretended to know who Briarcrest was without bothering to ask. Correction: you're fishing. 2004 (11-1) MUS smokes East high (a good team that year) goes on to beat every memphis team it plays, and wins a state championship.

Ask Knox Catholic how easy it is in D-1. They turned in their equipment today. If they stayed in D-ll, they probably would have been in the championship game again.

On the other hand, Mighty McCallie being beat by 2A and a 4th in their region 4A team.

Please, Dll might as well stand for "everyone gets to go to State".

Don't talk about D-II being easy. The D-II 3A champion and runner-up team could have handed the vast majority of public school teams (even 4a and 5a) and you know it.

Have seen Webb and ECS against a common opponent. Webb dominated this opponent.... ECS was clearly the weaker team against same said opponent but won on the scoreboard where it counts.... If Webb has everyone healthy... They beat ECS by 14 maybe even 21... We shall see...

I wouldn't underestimate ECS... I predict they'll take it all.

NOTE: Based on its performances so far, I agree-- Melrose is not the best TEAM in Memphis! Sure, Melrose likely has more talent and overall team speed than most squads; it takes MORE than that to win BIG games vs. quality opponents, though.

Can someone tell me what happened at the MBA BA game on Halloween 2003. I keep hearing about it but it's when I was a sophomore, and wasn't following either team. Why does everyone get so up in arms about it?

why does everyone ask where im at?? I dont stay on the comp. 24/7.. Im not trying to make excuses but, once again, the TSSAA refs screwed us, when we were down at the one, Ryan White jumps over the o-line/MUS D-Line and he didnt get in??? Is it possible to jump over a pile of people while on the one and not not one inch of the ball gets in the endzone??......And on another play one of MUS's receivers pushes Tremayne Townsend out the way and catches the pass for a TD...and thats not pass interference...But it was a good win by MUS, they capitalized on our mistakes, they came to play and we didnt

 

although MUS shut out both of us, I think either MBA or BA will knock MUS out the playoffs..People say thats the best team they've had, I personally think last years team was better...

Didn't you complain about BA losing to McCallie because of reffing? Either every ref in the state is out to screw BA, or you're full of sh!t.

No one that actually plays at MUS is overlooking BA. General concensus is that this game is going to be close and hard-fought.

The other reason McCallie and MUS don't play is b/c it isn't a fun drive from Memphis to Nashville, and MUS is already making it once. I don't know about CBHS.
