  1. BA has a huge monkey on their back... a state title. They have had really good football teams in the past but as of late they just havent gotten over the last hump. Plus, they are looking for revenge and we all know how hard it is to beat them twice in the same year (i think the last team to do it was MUS in 2004... could be wrong though) Anyway, I think they finally get the job done this year and beat McCallie. Going to be one heck of a game though... I just think BA is playing for more than a state championship. They want revenge and that state champion pride they have been missing back

  2. All this talk about cooper has made me think. What was the name of the runningback before him. I played at MUS and remember that he was extremely good but never really played to his full potential. What ever became of him?

As an Owl I have to pull for Massey and Burr. Go Baylor!

  3. I will pick Baylor in an upset. Massey and Cooper will get the job done and the defense will be able to hold off the BA offense. Going to be an incredible game though. Expect a trick play sometime in the second half when the game is close... Massey (the coach) tends to like them late in the year.

  4. I can honestly say that in all my life, throughout all the sporting events I have participated in, or seen as a spectator...never once have I truly belived the officiating decided the outcome. However, after watching this game, I felt as if the officals simply called a horrible game. They were letting MUS get by on holding all night, as well as quite a few calls that CBHS should have been nailed with. During MUS's last drive, I believe the officiating was terribble. On the other hand, both teams did a heck a job and played a great game.

Officials are very lenient in championship games. They do not like to make many calls. To get a call in a game like this you have to do something blatantly obvious. If you had any knowledge of championship football games at all, then you would know that. Another thing, CBHS had 10 penalties, MUS had 8. If you are going to say two penalties cost CBHS the championship then you obviously do not have a brain and should refrain from embarassing the CBHS players and coaches who played one heck of a football game. Congrats to both teams on outstanding seasons and hopefully there will be a rematch in next years title game.

  5. Congratulations to Coach Locastro and the Purple Wave. They played an excellent, mistake free game and made the plays when it counted. MUS put themselves in position to win the game by putting the brothers on their own 18 late , but when CBHS drives 82 yards into the wind on almost 10 plays in the last 3 minutes you have to give them a lot of credit and just admit you got beat by players making plays.

Mosby was very disruptive and I think he affected the MUS passing game -they blitzed him on almost every pass in the 2nd half and I think it eliminated the big play for the Owls with the exception of one long pass to Prokell where he made a juggling catch.

I think this will be a good gut check for the Owls as it proves again that if you don't bring your A game you can get beat.

Dude, why are you up at 7:07 in the morning writing on this god forsaken website?

  6. The game will be extremely close like it is the majority of the time. The records are thrown out the window when these two teams play against each other. By the way, if CBHS were to win... would that throw them, MBA, and MUS into a three way tie for first place in the Super 7?

  7. I haven't gone anywhere. I was going to stay out of this convo. And just look at the BA roster..im on the team. but instead of worrying about me being on the team you all need to worry about Tyree Ford, Ryan White, Mike Berry, Bill Kottas, Michael Beasly, John Garret, and Tremayne Townsend...they are the big play makers on our team. and our Defense is pretty good this year. And from reading the reply's to the topic, I get the feeling that you all dont think we can beat MUS. Or the only way we can beat them is if they dont play well. So for all of you who do think that, you should change your mind after Friday night. I think that you all think were not good just b/c we lost to McCallie.. If you were at the game you'd know that we had the game won, but let it slip away at the end...Its not like we were ran off the field. Its kinda like that UT-LSU game. LSU had the game won,but at the end UT made big plays and LSU didnt. So teams shouldnt overlook LSU just b/c they lost to UT.and the same with us MUS shouldnt be looking over us just because we lost to McCallie.... But thats in the past and we have to prepare for our other games. I guess ill talk to yall later

We missed you Eagles09... I agree with margaritaville on this one. If you think that anyone in this state will ever overlook Brentwood Acadamey then you are sorely mistaken. You always have a good team and everyone knows about it and respects yall. MUS will not overlook you just because they beat you twice last year (example: MBA). The game is too close to call. Its going to be a good one.
  8. wehhtam917-  I understand our fans were going a little far, but # 28 did turn around and flick the crowd off and start yelling at them; therefore, they were provoked. also, a parent was behind our goal yelling at rainer and scales saying they stink and all that so mus only ones ouyt of control. it was sad to see such a great rivalry turn into such a disappointing game. hope to see you at state, and hopefully in the finals.

Thank you for bringing up the actions of #28. I was sitting in the student section and yes we were booing CBHS at halftime... big deal. Its a rivalry game. Get over it. The booing does not give #28 the right to give the entire student section the bird. When you give the finger to the students then youre going to have to deal with the heckling that ensues. Im sure if an MUS player decided to give your "fan section" the bird then you all would act like complete gentlemen and not utter a word. The sportsmanship was bad on both sides and the refs were under par... but thats what makes this rivalry so great. Oh and to wehttam... watch what you say about bad sportsmanship... that was a nice slash to Gibson's head.

  9. Rain will benefit the Eagles in one way and the Owls in another.

Since MUS relies more heavily on the pass than the Eagles, the Owls are more prone to make big mistakes since more bad things can happen through the air than on the ground.  Having said that, it may still be a challenge for BA's running backs to hold onto the football.

Though BA has more speed than MUS, a wet field will help equalize the speed factor.

Overall, rain will have minimal impact upon the game since both teams are so fundamentally sound.

Wait how many times have Brentwood's backs fumbled this year again...

  10. The QB, Park, is a big time player he runs and throws very well and can be very difficult to defend, MUS also has a reasonably big line-and it seemed the first time we played them they went only one way- but I could be wrong. Hopefully an MUS fan can give us more of a detailed report.

The Owl offense is good but how about mentioning those on the defensive side of the ball. The most points that they have given up in one game is 14 (7 of the points in the baylor game came from an intereception return). There just seems to be no weaknesses in them and I think that they will be the main reason the owls take home their first state title since 1985. MUS - 17 BA - 10
