  4. Thanks for all the input. Remember 2 things: (1) Don't take this too seriously and (2)You get what you pay for. KKW - Baker to 171 - Thanks Coach!!! Walkenvol - You are correct. Dress is gone. kjfan - Gordan graduated...we will wait and see on Bennet...Cochran moves to 152...Jenkins was an oversight...We think Pack deserves his ranking. abc222 - We will move J Gooden to 125 for now. Furman wrestled at 30 in NC. If JG moves to 30 where will WF go?...Jennings to 119...Drinkwine at 130 WOW!!! noonesfool - Thanks AnyThing - Don't get so worked up. We are moving James and Brown up...Gessler placed in the state and Bullard didn't. It wasn't our fault. We just call 'em as we see 'em. matrat - the SSSS (Silverbullet Staff Spy Satellite)has been making passes over the Cleveland wrestling Building for a month. Even though it is equipped with the latest technology, it cannot penetrate the Million dollar roof on the Million dollar Building. A member of the SS is a burger flipper at Hardees in Cleveland. He reports thay NJ has been trying to eat his way away from QG (Bradley) but figured out he was eating his way into Campbell w/ Soddy. Conventional wisdom tells us NJ will end up in the spot which gives Cleveland its best chance of beating Bradley. we will leave him at 160 for now. WingIt - Thanks...we are moving james and Brown up...You are probably correct on Miller. he should be ranked...We will stick with Gessler for now, he placed...thanks again. Igo4It - TG moves to 119 and JG moves to 125. Pictures from the SSSS show Bradley is still having wrestle offs. News on 112 will have to wait. Takedown42 - We disagree, this ranking stuff is easy and we think Mr Sherrill gets more complaints than we will ever know. He publishes his E-mail address. Complaints to the SS have to be posted here for all the world to see. Tnmat - You could be right on PH. We will find out soon enough at the McCallie Inv. gitusome - Cothran moves to 189. Keep those card and letters coming. -Silverbullet Staff

  10. -Wrestler4Life You said you are a coach. Where do you coach? Also, where did you wrestle in college and what was your record. I'm trying to get a feel for how good Blackmon was when he was a Junior. Thanks,
  11. Fom what I understand...Coach Logsdon was fired up about wrestling McCallie this year and was willing to schedule 2 matches(home and away). Because he is very busy he often gets another coach to help him with scheduling. This year he asked Jeff Lester (Tullahoma) to help him and for some reason McCallie didn't make it. Hummm...Go figure. Well, maybe next year.
  12. Can someone explain to me why there are 3 seperate wrestling organizations in Tennessee? Wouldn't it be smart to have all kids wrestling together? Does anyone have any insite into this?
  13. Sundancer- The most courteous response I have for your post is that you and most of those involved with the Tennessee Wrestling Federation are Out Of Touch with the interests of wrestlers, coaches and parents in Tennessee. That is the exact reason why the TWF has never and will never receive widespread support. Your post said....... It is my understanding that TSSAA does not want the athletes continuing folkstyle post state tournament, thus USA promotes freestyle to comply with rulings. Freestyle & Greco is the olympic style of wrestling and typically seen at the college level. They simply build from the foundation of folkstyle to move the athlete into freestyle & greco. Are you the hired Spin Doctor of the TWF? Show me where I can find any information that the TSSAA does not want athletes continuing to wrestle Folkstyle. That is silly. Why would the TSSAA take a stand against one style in favor of another? That's like telling Track athletes that if they compete in post-season events, they have to run backwards or telling golfers that anyone who is right handed can play but it has to be left handed. I can assure you...there may be someone in the ranks of the TSSAA that does not favor post-season participation but that's as far as it will ever go. If they venture into wrestling that also opens the questions about summer track, baseball, basketball, swimming and golf. The only people who ever bring this up are the Freestyle people. About the rest of your post...you are way off base on Team Georgia also. (More TWF/Freestyle spin doctoring) You are right and wrong about Team Georgia. They DO have a great organization and are miles ahead of Tennessee. However, you are TOTALLY WRONG in saying they "move kids" into Free and Greco. TG is basically a Folkstyle organization. Sure, there are some kids who compete in Freestyle and Greco, but the bulk of the kids do not, have not and will not "move" in to Free and Greco. If the TWF is ever going to take off in Tennessee as TG has done in Georgia, then the focus will have to be shifted to Folkstyle. It will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER EVER happen with the focus on USA Freestyle. The pool of Folkstyle wrestlers in Tennessee is in the thousands. On the other hand, the TWF is supporting and promoting a style that has a pool of available wrestlers that is in the low hundreds at best. There is certainly nothing wrong with Freestyle and Greco but the interest of the masses is in Folkstyle. You may respond to that by pointing out that there are thousands of entries every year in Fargo. I will respond by saying IF there was only a few major Folkstyle tournaments every year, there would be tens of thousands wrestlers at each event. There are dozens of "National" Folkstyle events every year along with hundreds upon hundreds of local and regional tournaments and still people complain there are not enough.

  17. Coach G Don't let the stone throwers get you down. I agree with you. There is plenty of room at the Roundhouse to run a 32-man bracket with full wrestle-backs. Have you asked RC? Where will your team be on December 20th and 21st?
  18. CBG- I strongly disagree. Going to an 8 man bracket has no merit. There have been years when all placers in a given weight were from one section of the state. In each of the last several years, there have been less than 10 medalist out of 84 from west TN. Question for the board. How many mats can be put down in McKenzie if you squeezed 'em in?
  19. Wow Dr. Evil, Why the nastiness? Did the AAU steal your fries? There must be some underlying meaning in your post. Did you have a bad experience while competing in or attending an AAU tournament? Basically your post was childish. If you have a point to express...then express it. I was at the Ironman in Nashville this year and it was poorly run. But it had nothing to do with the AAU. The problem was a lack of volunteer help. It might be a good idea to step back and evaluate your opinion. The problem in wrestling is a lack of events not crappy events. Wrestled anybody from Kansas lately? My sons have and they are a tough bunch. Last year there were over 85 USA sponsored events in the state of Kansas. You want to increase the popularity of wrestling? Then increase the opportunities to wrestle. This season my youngest son will wrestle in (Nov-02 thru June-03) around 12 to 15 open tournaments. I am probably looking at 10,000 miles and thousands of dollars. How many parents are willing and/or able to do that? Not many. Why are we doing it? Because Dorothy...we ain't in Kansas. "Engage brain before engaging mouth."
  20. Mr. Green Many who read this board may have an interest in what you are offering but we will need a little more info. Could you please post some information regarding your experience, credentials, location, wrestling style (Free, Folk, or Greco) and your general plan? There are wrestlers in this state (both youth and high school) that travel to tournaments throughout the country. Many, including myself, would welcome an organized effort. Just my opinion.....but a qualified coach with no direct school affiliation would have little trouble attracting many of the best wrestlers in this state to participate. Following the State Tournament, many wrestlers move into Freestyle competition and what little organized effort there is, is dedicated to that style. The problem is that there are many, many wrestlers interested in continuing to wrestle in Folkstyle events. The Tennessee Wrestling Federation, with its' affiliation with USA Wrestling, has provided no organization towards competition in Folfstyle events. In other words, when wrestlers wish to continue wrestling through the spring and summer...YOUR ON YOUR OWN!!! Here are just a few of the available tournaments; ú National State Wrestling Duals Championship Grades 4-12, May 25-27, 2003, Norfolk / Virginia Beach, Virginia ú National Open Wrestling Championships, Grades 4-12 / College / Open, June 30-July 2, 2003, Norfolk / Virginia Beach, Virginia ú Cliff Keen Athletic Reno World of Wrestling Championships April 4, 5, & 6, 2003 ú AAU Folkstyle Nationals April 17-19, 2003 ú AAU All American Middle School Championships ú AAU Southern Nationals ú AAU Middle School Duals ú Apr 26, 2003-- Ohio Tournament of Champions If anyone has any other information on this subject, I would welcome discussion on this thread. 21. Walkenvol- I can't dispute a single word you say. I wholeheartedly agree. A January match between Bradley and McCallie would draw wrestling fans from everywhere. If Baylor/McCallie and Soddy/Bradley can draw 2000-2500 people, then I believe that many people might come to see a Bradley/McCallie JV match. The varsity match may draw 4,000.There is one thing Bradley and McCallie have in common. Everybody else loves to see them lose. Wrestling each other means one of 'em is walking out the door with a loss. But it's not going to happen, no matter how bad anyone wants to see it. We can end this discussion by saying we both love wrestling and it's too bad the way things have worked out. On another note...what is McCallie lineup going to be this year? I hear Silberman is up to about 250.[grin] You guys are loaded in the middle of the lineup. How is everyone going to fit in?
  22. Karelin- I apologize to you and the McCallie faithful. I have nothing but respect for McCallie both athletically and academically and I assure you I am unbiased on this issue of the split. My analogous remark about cheaters was only intended to point out pretentiousness of those who berate Steve Logsdon and Bradley for standing up for what they believe is right. You are correct...McCallie does not cheat. However, several years ago they did get caught in a violation of the existing TSSAA rules and thus the split. Under the rules of today, there are no cheaters. Therefore no one is wrong. Any disagreement with the present format should be taken up with the TSSAA. It is fine to disagree but it is wrong to condemn someone with a different opinion. You are also correct. Great programs and great coaches attract great wrestlers. Make a list of the top programs in Tennessee. In every case you will see where those programs picked up wrestlers from other programs. As far as programs coming out of nowhere...you know the secret as well as I do. It's all about coaching and kids willing to put in the work. KCHSCoach- I understand your feelings towards the need for a regional tournament. I think many of the coaches in DII feel the same as you. I sincerely sympathize with the situation of the Catholic schools. Has there ever been a request made to the TSSAA by the Catholics schools offering to limit the number of participants receiving financial aid on each team? WalkenVol- Ease up. Yes, I do think a match between Raines and your son would have been a good one but I don't think the match you mention at 135 would have lasted long. Just my opinion. No, I don't think you have a hatred of Bradley. But I do think you are hung up on having McCallie wrestle them. Why? The only reason I can come up with is because you believe McCallie will win. I've never seen anyone beg for a butt whipping. I just don't understand where your preoccupation with Bradley comes from. Many of your points are good but your offer of a match against Bradley with only kids who do not receive financial aid is a slap in face. It's like saying, "I'll wrestle you. I'll even tie one hand behind my back." Be happy wrestling Soddy and all the other D-I schools on your schedule. If the TSSAA combines the divisions and Bradley has to face McCallie then I am certain they will show up. But until then...Let it go...LET IT GO! Hounddog- It's always pleasant to hear from the Ryan contingent. Someone from the Pat Simpson camp complaining about whining is pretty funny. Have a nice day. Commoner
