  1. I personally have only seen one bad outcome from metal cleats. Three years ago a centerfielder from Westview got her metal cleat hung in the centerfield fence trying to keep a ball from going out. Snapped her leg like a twig...pretty gruesome. But I've seen lots of broken legs/ankles and blown out knees from bad slides in rubber cleats, so I'm not sure the metal ones are anymore likely to cause injury (except for being cut from the metal cleat)than the rubber ones.

  2. Last night Camden beat Huntingdon by a score of 68-30 to improve to 7-0 on the season. Here is a look at District 11-AA and tonight's slate of action:

    1.) Camden: 7-0 (1-0)

    2.) Cheatham County: 4-2 (1-0)

    3.) Harpeth: 4-3 (1-0)

    4.) Waverly: 3-2 (0-0)

    5.) Creek Wood: 3-3 (0-1)

    6.) Stewart County: 3-4 (0-1)

    7.) Montgomery Central: 2-5 (0-1)

    Cheatham County vs White House

    Stewart County vs Creek Wood

    Harpeth vs Camden

    Waverly vs Montgomery Central

Camden remains undefeated and moves to 8-0 (2-0 in district play) with a big win over a good Harpeth team. Go LIONS!

  3. camden is not lossing anyone but their middle line backer and their tailback.....they have everyone of their linemen back...not lossing a soul on the line and still got tanner hudson their quater back and chris nazi their defensive tackle who has started since his sophmore year and cody hassell .....camden is state material this coming year

    No....and it's not even close.

I can't believe Marshall Co won, they have won a total of about 3 games in 3 years. Maybe they are turning the corner.

As for Milan, I think there maybe reason for some concern, A reloading Mayfield team (which is what we are susposed to be after a 15-0 run last year with a senior laced squad)is better than 99% of other teams but we dominated pretty much all phases of the game and now HC takes down the Bulldogs granted HC is a tough out for anybody. Was listening to Milan's Jeff Morris speak to his KY Cousin Joe Morris (Mayfield Head Coach)after the Mayfield scrimmage and he clearly was not happy, espically with his qb play. AS for Milan not caring about winning swcrimmages, I'm not buying it given their efforts against Mayfield in the pasts years. Hope I'm wrong but I think Milan will come out of the gate slow

Marshall Co did not win...14-7 Camden.

Milan will be fine...maybe not as dominant early, but by the time it counts, they'll be running on all cylinders as usual. Camden still has big...BIG question marks. This Saturday against Lipscomb will tell the tale on how their season goes. Henry Co as usual has athletes all over the field...they'll have a good year. Lexington was the most impressive team to me...fast, fast, fast! This year if they don't make a run for the big money at the end of the season then they never will.

  5. If you go to the ut Martin and the Tennessee softball websites and click on their names they have some stats from their senior year.

I think wad was being a little sarcastic. Wad knows that E. Renfroe is only asked to pitch where Brandenburg pitches, fields and hits for her team. No stats required for that one...

Let's leave it at they are two of the best the state has to offer. But if I could choose one to NOT play against, I know who it would be.

  6. I'm sure it sounds better in your mind when you tell yourself that the only reason Creekwood didnt win their district last year & then go on to the "Boro" was due to the "best player in the state" last year?? :roflol::roflol:

Brandenburg was & still is a great player & definitly the best player in your district during recent years. But please remember all sports fans have opinions & they are much more credible if they are backed up by credible numbers & I believe it would be extremly difficult to compile numbers that would place Amanda above Ellen in that particular catagory.

As an all around player Amanda Brandenburg was absolutely hands down the best player in the state last year. Now if you wanna talk about the best pitcher, Ellen wins that one easy. And this year, Brandenburg has already received numerous awards...OVC Freshmen of the Year, OVC All-Newcomer squad, and 1st Team All-OVC. She leads the OVC in batting and slugging pct., leads the OVC in doubles, leads UTM in ERA and wins and I'm sure the accolades are far from over. She also pitched against a ranked Ohio State team and shut them out early in the season. Granted, she doesn't play in the SEC (although she easily could), but she does lead her D1 team on the mound and at the plate- all while hitting clean-up, stealing bases and hitting home runs. Can Ellen say that? No... Is Ellen good at what she does? Absolutely, she is one of the best... but so is Amanda and she does more for her team.

Camden once again has a very young team with only 2 seniors and only 1 player with more than 2 years starting experience(and that's not either one of the seniors). They have 2 sophomore pitchers and one senior, none of which has any starting experience. Big adjustments have had to be made with a brand new coaching staff and a completely different coaching style. Still alot of talent on this team, they just have to figure out their identity. Hopefully with the big win over a very good Waverly squad last night to make it out of the district, they are beginning to figure it out.

  7. Don't really worry much about the DII teams. But it is highly unlikely That Trinity or Camden makes it back here to the "Boro"

I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet if I were you TBall "cause both teams will still be very good this year, but I will say that Creekwood will have a leg up in District 11AA and will be a favorite for a Boro run.

  8. The LiL' Cotton Bowl of 65...well jeez, there's goes the whole Camden's never got past the

third round and the pressure is on them comments!!!

The pressure's on Camden? Are you sure? From what I hear your coaches are breaking out the desperation tactics. Making up "Camden 15-0 State Champ" T-shirts and painting up the school like Camden players supposedly did it? Sounds like your coaches are feeling the pressure and are putting it squarely on the Bulldog's backs.

Big pep rally for Camden last night...glad to see the huge turn-out as usual. Hey Deek, maybe that's where all the Bulldog fans were last night...took a wrong turn and showed up in Camden maybe?

Seriously, should be a great game and great atmosphere. Congrats ahead of time to both teams on great seasons. Let's pray for an injury free game and that whoever wins goes on next week to whip some middle TN football butt. Go LIONS!!!

  9. Way to go Lions! 2 stout red zone stops...glad to see ya had it in ya :thumb:

Congrats to Westview on a good season and a great couple of games...as others have said they left it all on the field. I'm sure we'll do it all again next season.

This was a great game for the Lions to get under their belts to prepare for next week. Gonna be a slobberknocker for sure...time for the Lions to get that Bulldog off their backs. Go LIONS!

  10. good luck both teams. hopeing for a westview win tonight. whoever wins this game good luck rest of the season. i know westview takes it one game at a time and camden does the same. both are well coached and love to run the ball. WV gots a good defensive line this year with alot of leadership. ill listen to the radio anyone know what station it will be on?

Camden's internet feed will be on wrjbradio.com, click the listen live button.

    Go LIONS!

  11. This is for serious Camden fans. I heard earlier in the year about the balance that the Lions had on offense. I'm showing in the regular season Camden attempted 57 passes. I guess that is a lot of passing for a wing style offense but it just isn't what I thought I would find when looking up the stats. Do you think IF Camden finds themselves trailing in a ballgame the QB can put it in the air sucessfully? I didn't look up the completions or yards. What do you Lions fans think?

Bulldog, I heard Coach Ward talk about just this subject the other day and his answer was "We do what the defense gives us". The pass completion rate is 65% or better, so we CAN pass the ball effectively. I think alot of the problem is the OC's "uncomfortable-ness" if you will, in calling pass-plays in pressure situations. You know the old saying "do what you do best"? Well, I think Coach Blow wrote that...

I've seen the Lions have a very successful passing day more than once this season, but IMO is it enough? Honestly no, I don't think so. When we meet someone who is able to stop our running game and match up speed-wise I guess we'll all find out then.

  12. Camden wins 35 to 14 in a hard hittin game.Hope all is well with the injured manassas players.

Very scary moments when the Manassas #5 was down. Even though he walked off the field under his own power, things headed south on the sideline and he ended up on a stretcher in an ambulance a short time later. Hope everything turns out ok for him...he's a heckuva ball player. The other injured player was on the field a few plays later so I think maybe he wasn't hurt too bad.

Let me officially say that I hate the week 10 bye and I hope Camden never has it again. Now that that's off my chest....Manassas was a tough first round draw for the Lions because they matched up well speed-wise which is something that hasn't happened to the Lions all season. Glad to see that one behind us 'cause for a few minutes I was sweatin' bullets. Next up...Camden vs. Westview part II :thumb: Go LIONS!

  13. HOWDOIKNOWANYTHING......the DOGS put up 30 on Crockett County and didn't play very well.

Milan will score more than 21 in the first half.

As bad as I hate to say it...I agree with swingjuice. Milan has gotten it's offensive explosiveness back on track. Gonna be a long trip home for the Panthers.

  14. Great job Cheatham. You really took it to the Lions for 3 quarters. No excuses, you guys played very well and Camden had no energy on defense. Got some nice young players over there in Cheatham. Keep it up. You coach had a nice gameplan too.

Hey Camden. Wake up. From the team on the field to the fans in the stands, there's no energy in the stadium except for the kids with the painted chests. Lets get loud again for the playoffs! Let's show our Lion Pride for REAL!

I think you're right rcombs! Seems some have gotten spoiled to winning and just expect it every Friday. Gonna be a shock to those not paying attention when someone sneaks up and walks all over the Lions in the playoffs. Be Loud, Be Proud!! Go LIONS!

  15. They kicked it deep 1 time and Kendrick Hudson returned the kick to the OPP 6 yard line for 74 yards. At least by "onside kicking" it the Cubs avoided that tragedy (and at the same time gave themselves a shot to recover the football on 2 occasions).

It was a great game and the Cubs didn't have an option but to change the offensiv scheme following Potts injury. Hussaen Ismail, who had been the backup at RB, quit the football team during this past week and there was nobody who had received any reps there available. I look for that to change however in the coming days. Who knows? Maybe the Cubs & Camden will meet again down the road :thumb:

From Gerry Bertier's look at the Quads, Cheatham and Camden could meet in the first round...could get real interesting.

  16. 48 - 27 Camden finally waking up!!!

Camden needed a game like this late in the season. Congrats to the Cubs who gave Camden all they wanted and more. Great game planning on Coach Finley's part...took advantage of a Camden defense that likes to push hard and gets caught overpursuing at times. Finally the defensive adjustments were made (a little later than us Camden fans would have liked) and they shut the Cub offense down. For a while there I thought it was going to be last team to get the ball wins. Hopefully the Lions got the wake-up call they needed to realize they weren't going to just breeze through the playoffs. Good game Cheatham, you guys have a very good team.

Hope #11 wasn't hurt too bad, but it didn't look good ...let us know Hdik2.
