  1. Good,Hard fought battle tonight between two great teams. Both squads got to see their weakness and adjust.Any Injury report????Looked like both squads got banged up pretty bad.

No kidding...it was a cramp/puke-fest the 2nd half. Hope there's no lasting injuries for either squad. Gonna be some sore boys tomorrow though....

  2. No not quite here buddy. We just were beat by a better team tonight. This Camden team was no joke and everyone that playes them will find out. We did what we could and made a ton of mental mistakes. Look at the stats tomorrow in the paper and see we aint no joke either. Stats wise we won the game but on the scoreboard where it matters we lost. Same situation as last year, lose the first then run the table. WV better be ready cause we aint H-town baby......... :thumb:

Congrats Lions and good luck the rest of the year. #75, you can play son. You should defaintly have scouts looking at you. Best tackle I have seen in High School. Best of luck to you.

Thanks McKRebelDad....great 1st game by both teams. The Rebels got a lot to look forward to...made the Lion D look pretty pedestrian at times and that's one of Camden's strengths this year. But wow, I'd hate for something to happen to #12...he did it all for you guys, I even expected to see him working the concession stand at half time. Tough player with a lot skill...not too many get hit by Camden's #75 so many times and walk away with all their body parts.

Camden still has some problems to solve, but it was good to play a tough, talented team and get tested right off the bat. Good luck to you guys...we'll be pulling for ya! :thumb:

BTW...Butchie I looked for ya by the flagpole before and after the game...where was ya???

  4. The Fighting Butchies?? I guess maybe as long as there fighting. LOL!! Camden didn't look to bad at the jamboree, they run the ball extremely well it will be a test for our run defense for sure. Good Luck REBELS!

Contrary to what has been previously posted, no one has been kicked off Camden's team. There will be some players held out of this game due to off the field disciplinary actions and there are others that will be out due to injury. Camden returns alot of talent, but sadly a bunch of that talent will be on the sidelines for this one...would have been a good first test for both teams if it was being played at full strength. But no excuses...gotta play the hand you're dealt...hopefully the Lions can compete with a very tough Rebel team.

To the poster who said Murphy would be the best lineman on the field Friday...it's absolutely true. During one of Camden's last scrimmages, Murphy was being triple and even quadruple-teamed, almost like they were more concerned with containing him than moving the football. Made the other's jobs around him easy for sure... :) Devon White is a beast...Chris Donald, 2.0 running the football for sure. Easley, Blackburn, Hudson,Plant and T. White round out a very talented, strong and seriously fast bunch. If a very young and inexperienced O-line can find their feet, should be another stellar year for the Lions.

  5. Anyone know how Camden has been doing in scrimmage so far this fall? I have heard they looked pretty good but not heard anything about scores or opponents.

Right now it's going to be hard to judge how the season will go for the Lions. With many of the best players sitting the bench because of injury or off the field disciplinary action, alot of younger guys are getting the reps right now.

Few things though....the D line will be a major strength, the O line is still a big fat question mark, Coach Ward was quoted as saying "There will be at least 15 pass attempts per game (finally!!!) and Easley's arm is looking darn good. By the time the Lions get to district play the ship should be righted and squared away, but the first 3 games ( McKenzie, Westview, and Huntingdon) should be interesting to say the least.

  6. Congrats to the Lady Lions from Camden on the school's first state championship in any sport!!

Thank you ladies for allowing us fans to join you in all the excitement, heartbreak, joy and tears this season...it's been a ball and we wouldn't have missed it for the world. For such a young team that lost 6 starting seniors from last year's state tourney team, to pull together and become the team we all knew you could be, was nothing short of amazing. We all knew the potential was there to have a special year, and with some outstanding senior leadership, it certainly turned out to be special indeed. Covington is a great team with a boat-load of talented hard-working players and great coaching...to come back on them to take the final two games is something that you should always be proud of!! Way to go girls...let's get 'em again next year!

To our seniors...you lead the way and showed the younger girls how to be competitors and lead by example. We couldn't have done it without all your hardwork and dedication...you will be sorely missed!!

To Amanda our state tournament MVP...it has been my honor and privledge to be able to watch you play ball for the past 4 years. You single handedly carried this team to the state playoffs with your drive, intensity and sheer force of will. Players like you only come around once in a lifetime for most teams....Camden's loss is certainly UT Martin's gain. You made all the players around you better, and if only 1/10th of your heart and competitiveness rubs-off on these other girls, this team will be special for years to come. Thank you and good luck....kick some serious OVC butt for us ok??

    WAY TO GO LADY LIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Camden beat Marshall Co. today, 3-0. Brandenburg struck out nine MC batters. Capps had a HR, double and 2 RBI.

Camden hosts Goodpasture in the sectional game. CHS has Graduation on Friday night, so the matchup likely will be moved to tomorrow (weather permitting), 5 p.m. at Camden City Park.

    Marshall Co. travels to Greenbrier.

Camden/Goodpasture game cancelled for today. Will try for 4:00pm Friday if weather permits, if not then Saturday @ 5:00pm.

  8. Can I ask how Camden hosts? It's an even year, and Marshal Co. is from the even district. Is it still done that way, or does it have to do with the realignment?

Here is the TSSAA website with the brackets:

    http://tssaa.org/2009Champions/StateSof ... Region.htm

The home team rotates in the region finals with the top half of the bracket hosting in even years and the lower half in odd years. If a #1 and a #2 seed play for the c'ship then the #1 seed hosts regardless of bracket placement.

  9. Sorry, Lions4ever, but the TSSAA really isn't worth much. At least not in your new district. Best of luck to you, though. You will have to overcome a lot to get a fair shake against some there. Actually, more like divine intervention. :thumb:

Actually since the Lady Lions have had a fair amount of success against this district in the past, a "fair shake" is not really our concern. But it does seem to be a BIG concern of yours...What is it about that "certain other team" that just stirs people up so much?...drama, drama, drama. If the Lady Lions go out and take care of business on the field, the rest usually works itself out. I think a few other teams (and fans) might want to heed that same advice.

  10. Actually, this coach has been there for a few years. If the job came open there would be no problem getting a faculty replacement.

Your best bet would be to quit while you're ahead. Say much more and your school would be very close to a TSSAA violation.

  11. I know that I as a Camden fan I am excited about the move to the new district. Should be more consistent competition and with softball rivalries already established with Waverly and Creekwood, it should make for an exciting finish. Although Camden lost 6 seniors from the state tourney team a year ago and return only 3 seniors, they shouldn't miss a beat. A big plus is the return of the very successful battery tandem of senior pitcher Amanda Brandenburg and sophomore catcher Deven Wilson and lead-off hitter/second baseman Heather Capps. With their leadership the young Lady Lions still have plenty of talent to make another run to the 'Boro.

  12. Polk County, Elizabethton, York Institute, CPA, Cannon County, & Gatlinburg-Pittman were all very hard for me to keep off of this list.

I just wonder how Milan is going to fare in a loaded district in what will definitely be a rebuilding year after losing a bunch of senior starters from this past year's squad.

Milan will be ok next year - too good a program for the talent to fall off too bad. Lots of new faces but some pretty good talent. Hard to believe they're not in your top ten but that's fine. I would look for the Bulldogs to take a loss or two early in the year and then see if they can get things rolling for a postseason run deep into the playoffs.

IMO - Westview will be the team to beat coming out of the Western half of the bracket next year. They return almost everyone and have quite a few 3 year starters. Manassas will be decent and Camden will also but Milan & Westview to rise to the top in 2010.

Agreed...Westview should be a force and the favorite to come out of the west. Milan loses alot so there are question marks no doubt...but they always have the athletes to fill in the holes. As far as Camden goes, there is alot of talent returning, but if the Lion's offensive game plan doesn't change, the quarterfinals will be the farthest they ever go. Hate to start hating on our OC, but there's got to be more if the Lions intend on truly competing for a spot in the championship.

  13. I apologize for all us Camden fans posting on what must surely be the Alcoa/Milan lovefest thread....Oh, but wait... the title says Camden and Milan. Gee, I could of sworn from reading all the posts that I musta been on the wrong thread. dry.gif

    Anyway...

The coaches and players will be ready...gonna be an uphill climb for sure, but I know some guys that are up to challenge. Go LIONS!
