Almost the whole coaching staff is from Hickman Co, which I assume is how Dawgsfan71 seems to know so much about what's going on in Perry County.

Head coach: Michael Harrison (from HC)

Asst head coach: Caleb Dunkle (baseball coach from PC)

Asst coach: Chris Wright (from HC)

Asst coach: Billy Sawyer (from HC)

Asst coach/intern: R.E. McDonald (college student, from Lewis Co)

Asst coach: Glyn Mercer (from PC, also helps coach middle school)

That's the most coaches I ever remember Perry County having, and the worst season we ever had (0-10).

 

As to whether any of this will change or not, who knows, this is Perry County. This time last year, we would have said that Coach Bradley would be around for years to come, but the powers that be had other ideas, so I really can't make any predictions. Apparently Dawgsfan71 thinks he has some inside information or something, but since he is from Hickman County, I don't know how he could. We here in Perry County have learned to just take it as it comes.

Again not Changing....Coach Harrison will have them on track soon!!!! It was a year of firsts for him and his staff. The next thing people need to realize is Perry County is a basketball town, just be glad you have a football team. Coach Harrison will change that and BUILD a good program. He did not have much time this past year. You all will see how much he puts into this program next year.

How many seniors lost this year from HCHS, how many seniors will they have for next year?

They have a lot of Jrs coming back they lost a few really good Srs like Cody Leaming....but the Jr class is the loaded one!!!!

You must have changed quarterbacks since you played Waverly because the one you had that night couldn't throw the ball worth a flip. It looked like a dying quail every time he threw it.

 

Besides, you can throw touchdown passes in high school sometimes but that doesn't necessarily mean you have a passing game. I've seen some dreadful passes in my lifetime but I wouldn't call them a qualified passing game.

 

Now, I think that HC will win, but I sure hope that SC will get the win.

Honey, I just love football and Swenser has done a great job with these boys. I am Hickman co. and i will always love these boys that lay it on the line for the Dawgs. You need to go back and ask your momma if you can be on here... If ole momma could play i would be right out there with them....

I talked to Coach Swenson on Saturday, and he said it well...we all knew this year was coming and it is finally here, the Bulldogs that are Jrs have a lot of experience and are just getting better....Good luck and stay healthy

East hickman has by far the youngest Varsity team in the state, there are many kids having to fill some big shoes ,they really should be playing some of these spots yet, but they are doing it the end result has not been a win, but they are gonna give you all they can . just remember those are Freshmen and Sophmores your playing, some have not even hit puberty yet. Win or lose just think what this team will be doing to folks in a few years................... Matt Jones is setting the stage for a dynomite team, But if you take us lightly...........you will be going home a cooked bird.

Mountain Mafia.....Help me out....Word on the Street is that there was am IMPLOSION last Friday night @ Richland. I heard that a couple of Parents (which shall remain nameless) errupted on Coach Jones after the game beacuse he refused to play their son because of a pouting stint in the locker room at half time. I heard that one of the parents said "my son has a chance at a scholarship and you ruined it" or something to that affect. I was just wandering if that was the case and I knew you be able to get the scoop!!!! Poor Coach Jones!!!!

i just think this shorty person is making a fool of themself. this whole topic was uncalled for. its good to compliment your team on here but we already closed the post with all the east and centerville bashing each other. once again its only week 5 we dont play each other till week 9. and honestly im pretty nervous about that game. i mean someone from their school has already vandalized our press box. that game could go either way--either were all gonna be civil to each other and get a long or theres gonna be plenty of yelling at each other or maybe even some fights who knows. i hope that doesnt happen though.

 

but to defend hickman co real quick--stop all this yall are gonna stink in 2 years after sowell leaves. yall dont know that just like yall cant prove that east is gonna be awesome in 2 years. if yall keep that coach yall might not have very many players. heck yall are down to 30 players already. im not sayin that to bash east i have friends that play for east and i also have some that just quit the team. but stop making predictions that yall cant prove.

Does this year's OL have any upperclassmen starting? I know Corey Jones started at Center last year as a Junior; Royce was doing well in spring practice on the line. Robbie has a good bit of experience on the line..did they move Jacolby into the backfield? I believe someone said he got hurt?? Marcus Smith needs to step up. I watched him last year & he has a ton of potential. Neal Sanders transferring to McNairy hurt. I don't think he played on OL much, but he was a very good overall lineman, 235-240 lbs. & could punt the ball also.

 

It's going to take a while to get those young linemen to perform. There are some occasional freaks of nature, but by and large the average 14 year old lineman is just not physically & mentally ready to take on 17-18 year olds across the line from him. They might be physically as big as the 18 year old, but believe me, they just will not match up.

 

Unfortunately, PC may not have much choice but to play these young guys at this time. In that case, it is important for the HEAD COACH & Line Coach to work hands on with the OL, stressing fundamentals, good blocking angles, double teams, traps etc. etc. & most important: BUILD THE CONFIDENCE of these young men, build them up, bring them along & don't let them lose that confidence because they get mauled on the line by a guy whose 4 years older. If they stay at it, don't give up, don't quit, keep working in the weight room, in 3 or 4 years they'll be the ones doing the mauling.

Good Luck Coach Harrison and PCHS....make this one count....keep your head high....this will payoff in the years to come....

Hickman County people not supporting an athletic program or it's coaches?.....Uumm, I guess it has spread to the East side of the County now. Hickman County is famous for not supporting coaches or teams. I guess some administration in Hickman County would rather not listen to parents complain why their little boy is not playing? East Hickman got the best possible person to coach their football team. Matt Jones is a tireless worker with a VAST knowledge of the game. He is trying to win games and build a program with kids who have never played football before. They just want to wear a jersey because it is new. The people in East just need to realize that it is going to take time to build the program. East was thrown into the fire by having to play a varsity schedule in year one! It would have been better if they could have played a JV & Freshman schedule this first year. But instead, Coach Jones and staff have to take their lumps and know it will get better with time. To the people of East: Support your program as a whole, not just your own kid!!!!! Coach Jones: Good luck! Man I feel some build up in that post....If I am correct (on who this is) you have a great point!!!! In my opinion, you would still be there if they had supported you!!!! Coach Jones seems to be a great guy and hard worker...I just think HC in general gets caught up in not wanting to jump into hot water and take the heat for a man that is doing a great job. Maybe that will change....

Lawrence Co. should be a good test for the Dawgs, but they really have Mr. Momentum on their side right now. They're extremely focused and taking the games one at a time. Hopefully they stay fired up and keep the ball rolling on Friday night.

Yea Hickman has been through so much more than Harpeth in the last 4 years it isnt even funny. And I bet you would rather play Goodpasture more than Tullahoma. And what he meant by your junior and senior numbers are you have A LOT more than Harpeth, and the other schools in our region.

You all put a Goat in the yard of one of your Coaches....I guess that does mean you have been through a lot more...I bet you our Coaches would have gotten a Goat in his yard, had everyone not understood playing against Hillsboro, Maplewood, Whites Creek, and yes Tullahoma (By the way John Olive is one of the best Coaches out there and yes they are good) was a battle that we could not win no matter the numbers. Man, give it up, you have no excuses!!!! Don't be upset that Hickman County people are proud to have some "chance" to cheer....we have been kicked around enough....and let me remind you all these boys need is to know how to win and they will not loose those embarrassing games (the ones they should not) anymore....I know they have worked hard for three and four years....I have been there!!!

Harpeth might get theirs on Friday. Nobody is taking Hickman Co lightly at Harpeth I can assure you. Harpeth hasn't exactly been riding the wave the past 4 years. Harpeth won't ever be a 4A team and 2A Harpeth beat some of those 3A and 4A Hickman County teams around the same years they were getting thumped by Huntingdon in the playoffs. I guess you guys owe us....

 

Try playing Goodpasture, CPA and DCA week in and week out with 3A Sycamore and Cheatham County thrown in for good measure. You surely don't want to compare schedules over the past 2 years. You guys are playing a 2A schedule with a roster full of 4A like junior and senior numbers. You should win. It's going to take a couple of years for this Hickman/East Hickman deal to shake out.

Yep. Isn't gap responsibility the first thing they teach you on defense? That and the ends and corners holding their position and turning the play inside is fundamental run defense. It might not work every time, but it's the basis for stopping the run. Fill a gap, pursue the ball and gang tackle.

 

I think papatiger hit the nail on the head. That's the key for Harpeth to win the game. You still have to execute.

Thanks KS. I'm sorry you guys use different terms than I use. But I call the lanes on defense keeping your position. Always called it that as long as I remember. On defense you have to maintain your position and not get out of place to allow cut backs or misdirections. Now if you want to call it dumb, go ahead. But I know what I'm talking about.

Having a good year and being proud of your accomplishments is all well and good....being tacky and cocky is something else. I'm glad Swenson has turned it around for HC cause he's a good guy, a smart coach and the players deserve success....and they also deserve fans with a little more class to support their team.

Just for the record I have said nothing about pounding anyone....I for one am from HC and I know we have not pounded anyone for a long time. I just think the people are so fired up that they are just glad they have something to talk about. I agree it is not good to say those things, my thing was you all were being just as bold with your statements too. Good luck to Camden and Coach Ward and Blow, they are good coaches and men as well. I guess the thing we need to realize is that we are talking about kids from the age of 14-18 no matter if it is good or bad they are still kids
