  1. No disrespect to lake county they are good.......but you are saying you don't think pc would get this far or even they should be.....that's how I take it .lake county beat pc with the starters but Jacob Tucker did not play and that was their first game .......next game pc had Tucker and they got use to a basketball instead of a football and beat lake county don't remember the exact score though so

I'm saying I thought there was no chance they'd beat Clarksville Academy....And do you honestly think thats the same Lake Co team ya'll played in the 1st game of the year?...Maybe the same players but completely different "team"....

  2. You asked why? Getting players college scholarships, plain and simple. A break down looks like this:

2008 - Austin Hopper to UTM

2009 - Patrick Haskins to Austin Peay, Aaron Cary to Tennessee Tech (then to Kilgore Jr. College in TX after Aaron didn't qualify academically)

2010 - Jaquis Williams to Western Iowa Community College (then to D-1 Wyoming), Steven Patton to Carson-Newman

    2011 - ?????

If you are a parent of a player who has the talent to possibly play at the next level, where do you want your kids going? To a program that may win, but the coach(es) never get anyone signed to the next level OR to a program that has started winning AND the coach(es) are getting players to the next level?

Right now with this Obion Central team, players to be considered for the next level would be LaDevin Fair, Marcus Parr, Trey Phipps, Mason McGrew, Josh Quinton, and Tanner Cary, with the possibility of a few more. Behind them are some young guys who have the potential to great things also.

With Coach Jackson having experience as a recruiting coordinator at a bigtime program (Missouri) he knows what it takes to get to the next level. If you want to do the things to get to the next level as a player, coach Jackson will do all he can to get you there. He has contacts all over the country. The players you mentioned have an excellent opportunity to be playing on Saturday's.

  3. Dylan Dye would not start at qb at Obion County... Phipps has the time invested and knows the system. Such a head case, no matter how big or talented, wouldn't make it.

I agree Phipps will be the starting QB but it sure would be interesting to see him pushed for the job...It would only make him that much better...

I'll say this...If OC comes up with an offensive line they will be very hard to stop...They will some of the best skill position players in this area...

  4. Can you believe I actually made it to a game tonight. My wife had a doctors appointment today so I took a day of vacation and as luck would have the Falcons played tonight. A nailbiter for me for sure but a win nontheless. I think I will take credit for the LC win tonight since we have lost to them when I have not been there. Don't know if I will see another game but I am glad I made it to this one. Hey Purple, old buddy, old pal, Man of such basketball wisdom, what do you think of that lady coach now? Has your preseason opinion of her ability to coach non middle schoolers changed at all? My inquiring mind wants to know, Oh ye of such basketball wisdom. I never doubted her resolve. You may have already answered my question since my job does not afford me the time get as superinvolved on coacht as in prior years. I miss it but with two sons in college, work must be THE main concern at this time. If you have spoke on it before and you may have, let me know what you think now. I know you will be brutally honest and that I may take exception but I do want to know. May not see another game this year. But I certainly enjoyed this one tonight. Back to the second shift grind tomorrow but I ain't complaining, I am blessed to have a job when so many do not. I anxiously await your reply. And oh yea bigster last but certainly not least spit me some of your wisdom, as well, and try, as difficult as it may be, to be easier on those coacht'ers who are less talented than yourself. As Jim Rome would say, I AM OUT!!!!!!!!!!

You'll have to go back and pull out the post where I said I doubted her (I'll let you do the work)...I think I remember posing the question for discussion and actually think I added the caveat "deserved or not" if she did lose...I got the feeling some fans were thinking just that when she was down under .500 early in the season...I had seen her coach before...I knew she had a lot of spunk...A coach can coach...Man or woman...I could be totally wrong as far as my memory goes...A lot of things have happened since she was hired...I'm on second shift now as well and do not get to go to any games or even get to listen to many...I feel like wardawg would have been on me all year long had I actually gone out and said I doubted she could coach...To be honest, coaching wise, I'd put her above Boykin from Day 1...

If anything, my thoughts were of whether or not she could get high school boys to respond to her...I had seen some of those kids play before...I saw how some of them disrespected Coach Whitby, something by the way would NEVER have happened had he been healthy...I think I even said that football coach Barger might want to sit near the bench in case basketball coach Barger ran into some type of situation...I think those would be legitimate questions, even concerns...There is not much of a track record concerning women coaching boys teams...She is only the second one in Tennessee that has done it, if I'm not mistaken...

I say congrats to her...She took the big boys down in the postseason (she was 3-5 in 8 overall games vs UC and Humboldt, don't forget that)in only her FIRST season...Pretty impressive...The most impressive game though was the win on the road over an unbeaten Middleton team...If the Falcons make it to The Boro, fans can look back at that game as the one that catapulted them here...

  5. Great game by the Lady Rebels...Brandi Goodman had a heckuva game...She is a dominant player.....The defensive scheme for OC was spot on holding GC's Haynes to only 3 pts....This is a great accomplishment but these girls know that this isn't good enough....It's do or die time now....

    GO LADY REBELS!!

  6. Union City wins by 17.

Looks alot like most Union City teams of the past run and gun with a wildman as coach. I would be ashamed to act the way the coach acts. I hope the people of Union City are proud of him because he is a jerk and he always has been. The jerk played his main team the whole game.

Union City is definitely proud....How many State Titles again?

  7. I know most west tennessee football fans know that gibson hasn't had extremely good teams over the past few seasons but hopes are alive for a complete turn around this season. The quarterback position is up for grabs but personally i would be very surprised if Cameron Johnson doesn't win this position out right this spring. He has quick feet, great arm, and a very athletic physique. They have several players on the preseason mr. football watch list. Look for Ziggi Kinton to be a dual threat both carrying the ball and causing havoc in the backfield, he also has great size. If they can get passed milan, this team may be rolling into Cookville. WATCH OUT ALCOA!!!!

This is by far the post of the year....
