  1. I understand predictions are just opinions, but I must ask what makes you think those outcomes will happen at 125 and 145? Zach Watson defeated Landon Reed (Heritage) by a score of 11-0 in the McCallie Invitational, and Landon Reed pinned Alex Ward in the 2nd period. Despite them both having state titles under their belt respectfully, Zach is simply at a different level than Alex at this point in their careers. Then Michael Hooker comes in this being his 4th time to compete in this dual meet, and not to mention he's the best pinner in the state. Popp is a young talent, but lacks the inexperience in big time matches and against big time opponents. I don't see there being any way Popp avoids the fall here.

i think it is safe money to say Zac Watson will win. really, there are a lot of matches on the fence but i am just saying and i dont have a dog in the hunt.

  2. JPII still needs to beat MUS Tuesday. How will JPII play the number 1 seed out of the West when they were the #2 seed in the Middle/East and Mccallie was #3 seed and Ryan #5 seed in substate?

my understanding is no one knows at this time or if they do no one is talking. But what I have heard is ryan would play CB and winner of MUS/JP would play McCallie.

  3. I am not sure what play off setting the D-2 teams have, but I wanted to pin a thread for their scores, too. Please only list the scores.

Webb beat Baylor in OT and will play McCallie thrusday @ McCallie

    BGA beat FR in OT

PJP plays BA Thursday winner plays MBA, I think on Friday. all i know

  4. I think the champion(AAA) will come down to the following: Farragut, Bearden, Ravenwood or Hendersonville. I haven't seen West but they could be a dark horse. The rest are overrated or just pretenders.

While I am a D11 guy we played with several of Clevelands team members in the Fall on our traveling team. They have talent. I would not be quick to through them under the bus because they have been given a rating. There appears to be a lot of top teams in AAA, A/AA and D11 with talent and I would guess on even given day the top of any of these could beat the other. Since we are close to Cleveland here in Chattanooga I am pulling for them. As they say shop local first. Lots of good soccer is about to be played and the cream always rises to the top. Everyone will know soon enough who is the big dog in each div.

  5. I don't know what the rule book says about the buzzer thing, but the only time I have seen it in high school soccer is at the Oak Ridge tournament and Tuesday at Bearden. I really don't care for it at all. I think the referee's whistle is the only thing that should end the game, there is too much ... dispute when the home team controls the game clock. I know the referee had no way to stop the clock on throw in's and goal kick's (especially when the home team is winning late in the game) and that kind of thing because its out of his hands. Anyway, just thought I'd throw in my two cents about the clock ... Stick with counting down to two minutes and letting the ref decide from there.

in last nights mccallie ccs game while there was a clock it stopped and we played an additional 9 minutes due to a injury. you play to the referee's whistle. perhaps at tournments when the field is needed for many games in a day but a hs one game or even jv then hs games let the ref's whistle call the game. Lord knows it drives me crazy in the stands when you just dont know but that is the beauty of it. the teams have to play and not clock watch and in a tight game it makes a difference.

  6. McCallie beat CCS 1-0 so they can trade places. Heard it was a fantastic game.

Heard CCS' goalie may have been hurt and had to be subbed. No info there but I hope he's okay.

No information about the goal, my guess is sometime in the second half. Probably real unexpected, not something that anyone saw coming.

Me? No. You'd think I go to a game like that. I just don't have the gall for it right now.

(funny joke. got my gall bladder out on thursday.)

    (laugh)

Mcallie sent a great ball by wheeler into the box and Hicks headed the ball into the net. It appeared the goalie was injuried attempting to make a save. He left the game and did not return. Speedy recovery to him and good luck to CCS in the Post season

  7. McCallie 1 CCS 0

McCallie controled the majority of the game but could not find the back of the net in the first half. McCallie scores 15 minutes into the second half with a long cross out of the back by Wheeler into the box and Hicks scored with a beautiful head ball. CCS's goalie was injuried and for some reason it took almost 10 minutes for CCS to field a new goalie. CCS made a late run 7 minutes into stopage time by came up short. Good luck to CCS in the Post season.

  8. Jon, I don't think Baylor weak!..Only young. And still they are not a push over for any foe. They are a good year or two away from competing for DII state championships again.

McCallie starts 5 seniors, 3 or 4 freshmen depending on line up, 2 10th graders and 1 jr. Never more than 5 seniors ever start. I think McCallie is very excited about this year based on all the young guys but looking a head looks very good for the big Blue.

I thought Baylor was a good team. They are far from being counted out. If I was playing them in Post season and only one team was advancing I would be nervous because they could spoil your plans.

  9. Not if Webb plays Bearden like they played us. Granted, there is a "Dutchtown Road Rivalry" there in our game, but they played a very passionate game.

was the Webb game last night? If so what was the score?

  10. I heard Boyd had a goal taken away from them in the game against McCallie. Anyone know what for?

And Spike, I can see your point about strength of schedule with McCallie and Boyd, but they played head to head, schedule don't matter...

I think you are speaking about a shot that hit the top cross bar and went straight down right at the goal line. There was a line judge at the end line and the ref was close as well. Boyd wanted a goal, "which I dont blame them" but the call was a no goal. if that is what you are speaking to. yes the game was a tie and Boyd deserves tons of credit. Dont have a clue if Boyd played well or not because I have never seen them play. However I do know McCallie and the team was flat as flat can be and missing 3 starters. McCallie certainly did not play well enough to win and frankly you could say we were lucky to tie. Credit to Boyd. Doesnt really matter who is hurt, if a team is flat, the weather or the refs because at the end of the game there are no tag backs; it is what it is and goes on the record.

  11. McCallie 1- Dalton 1

Great game to watch, very exciting packed with lots of skill play. 0-0 at the end of the first half with both teams missing several scoring chances. Dalton scored first in the second half and McCallie scored quickly after. Great scoring drives on both sides being well defended, a real nail bitter. I understood Dalton was missing one starter and McCallie still missing 3 starters and starting 3 freshmen. I dont follow Ga high school soccer but Dalton has already won their region/distract and is finished with their regular season. So I assume both Cleveland and us were just additional games for them as they move toward state play. If you dont play Dalton I would encourage any skilled team to attempt to schedule them as a litmus test. McCallie scored on a set play and Dalton scored when McCallie failed to clear a ball to mid field. Its not good to let a team like Dalton hang around your goal even outside the 18. They can shot from well outside the 18 and have many players who can strike the ball very well. The game could have easily been a victory for either team because each had a number of other attempts that could have been goals. The shot totals were even. No yellow nor red cards. I few yellow cards could have been presented. A fun afternoon in the stands, dang that was good to watch.

  12. Cleveland deserves top bill but then it has to be mccallie on strength of schelude. They played their worst game of the year against Boyd and that yeilded a tie. McCallie is suffering with a host of injuries but most are short lived and when it matters they should be 11 strong. CCS has wins but looking at their schedule it is much weaker. Racking up wins against some of those teams is good but far from great. They play Notre Dame tonight so that should provide some ranking information for the Chattanooga area. Notre Dame should not be over looked and frankly will be a surprise I am sure when it matters. Baylor is Baylor and they dont lay down for anybody I am sure they will fight to the finish. I understand Baylor has a few injuries to contend with. McCallie plays Dalton tonight with a limited squad but considering Cleveland beat Dalton 2-0, the Dalton game should at least rate McCallie and Cleveland a bit. Certainly not a head to head. Really all this is just good message board banter since many of the teams in the ranking dont play each other nor fall in so many different divisions. ccs does not play clevland nor baylor, mccallie does not play cleveland, baylor does not play notre dame to mention a few non head to head games. Boyd has without question played well to gain a tie on mccallie and baylor but again looking at the schelude it certainly is not as strong as clevland, baylor, mccallie.

As we go into week 5 this is how I've got it for the southeast area.

    1. Cleveland- Took care of Dalton Ga. quite nicely this week.

    2. CCS- Just keeps on winning

    3. Boyd- Big draws this past week with Baylor and McCallie

    4. McCallie-Lost to the Ga. powerhouse Westminster and tied Boyd

    5. Notre Dame-This team is a real head scatcher...They tie Catholic, then tie East Ridge. Not sure what's going on over there?

    6. Baylor- They may be inexperienced this year, But they continue to improve each week.

    7. Hixson-They seem to have it going this year with their only loss coming to the hands of Sweetwater.

    8. McMinn Co.- What a tough early schedule, and never count out Bobby Earls.

    9. Soddy Daisy-Tough loss to Hixson, but I think they will peak at the right time

    10. Ooltewah- Young team, Good coach, equals a showdown with SD for the district.

  13. Didn't get to see the game. I will find out from my source tomorrow, unless someone else saw the game.

I was at the game. I know mccallie soccer and we played without a number of starters which was no excuse for our play because we did not show up at all yesterday; very flat. Certainly we have a number of injuried players but who doesnt. The game really was a non event. No real flashes of greatness, no mvp's, not great refs but not the worst calls either, for the most part the calls were ok. Boyd debated a shot on goal as a score which hit a cross bar but other than that and something at the end of the game again a non event. From my understanding Boyd seemed much more excited about the tie than McCallie. We play Dalton tomorrow and hopefully we have all our parts and pieces put back together. The dalton game is @ dalton. Always exciting to play them. Good luck to Boyd with the rest of their season.

  14. mccallie 5 ooltewah 0

mccallie played well and their entire team. Weather was a bit wet "as in raining for most of the game" but the field held and there was no standing water. mccallie was missing two starters for this game.

  15. Will try and keep it interesting with results for the TN kids as I get free time today.

So far the big news was Cody Cleveland being pinned in his first match by Seth Ciasulli of Lehigh.

he got injured in the first period. Shoulder,,, attempted to finish was pinned and then attempted to wrestle again but the injury was to much and was at half speed. that is my understand

  16. mccallie went to atlanta and played 3 games this Friday and today. Played Carollton ranked number 1# 3a team in Ga first. Flue has run throughout the team and we played without 4 starters, score was 0-0, next we played Norcross won 2-1 and then a school from Columbus Ga and ran out of gas and lost 1-0. Really proud of the team showed a lot fight against very good teams. It was wet and cold as it was everywhere else. Will be nice to get a full starting 11 on the field and healthy. Hope that happens soon.
