  1. Someone wanted to know about CSAS. Very young, very inexperienced to start the year. Lost entire 8 man rotation from previous year including two all state guards. Played a BRUTAL schedule this year like they always do. Starting to come together as the post season winds down. FCS is at least Twenty points better this year but enjoy it while you can. For the next MANY years the Patriots are going to be TOUGH!

  2. The teams from West TN that will be at state this year are no comparison to the Union City team from a few years ago with MJ Brown or with Marquis Weddle. Nor will I compare them to Manassas only because neither team will have a Reggie Buckner. Lake Co. and Middleton are still both good teams though. Lake Co. has been extremely hot as of late and have a new addition to their team that they did not have during the season. If Lake Co. can get past CSAS, I'll give them a legit shot at winning state. The CSAS/Lake Co. game will be an extremely tight game.

I just don't know if Lake County beating Humbolt, Westwood, and Middleton is as impressive as it would have been in years past. Humbolt really hasn't done anything in the state lately, Westwood is really no better than they were last year when Grace beat them. Middleton I don't know anything about them, may have been the matchup in LC's favor. Just not sold on how good a team Lake County is. Maybe they are really good. If they are really good then the west must have been awesome this year.

  3. I'm just hoping Lake Co. comes and plays a great game, win or lose.I wasn't counting on the boys to be here as much as I thought the girls had a great chance to win it all.Lake Co loves to run and I believe Coach B will let the boys do what they do best, win or lose. Not play slow ball like the girls that wasn't like them.anyway ..going to be a tough opponent for Lake Co,especially for the first game.

Fast break? Full court press? Is that what you mean by run? Has Lake County been to the State Tournament before?

  4. CSAS would be another team that could give them a game based on what they did last season and what they have returning...

BTW...CA didn't play their best game last year in the finals either..

Their game was better than CSAS that day.

BTW.....CSAS tried to play CA this year and no matter what dates they offered CA would not play. CSAS even offered to travel to CA on a Tuesday night that was open for both teams and Coach Smith said NO. ???

  5. CA will win it all...This has been a weak 1A year...There is not another big name team out there that would give them much of a challenge...

Westwood would be the least intimidated by them...Humboldt has the athletes, probably more top to bottom, but doesn't have the coaching...

I've looked at the schedule as well...Pretty weak...They don't play anyone if you compare their schedule with say a Union City who has played Southwind, Dyer County, Covington, Humboldt (2x's) and CPA among other ranked or ranked at one time during the season teams...Their schedule won't affect what they do in tournament play this season, in my opinion...

Who do you consider a "big name" team? Someone from W.TN or M.TN? CSAS from E.TN lost to CA by 9 in the state final four last year. They played a terrible game against CA last year, have everyone back and have had a great season so far and are dramatically better. But I guess they are not a "contender" in your opinion.........

  6. This team isn't last years team by any stretch. They have a couple new recruits in that have helped but they aren't as big as they were last year. They are a quality team though very athletic and will be a tough team to beat come tourney time.

Do you think they will come out of your region with Jackson or will Jackson and Clay be the teams?

  7. You are correct, here's a complete break down:

Play in game: (This is the losers final game)

#5 at #4- I don't know if they're letting the higher seed host this game or not, sometimes they do and sometimes they do not

    Semi Finals:

    #1 vs winner of #4/#5

    #2 vs #3

    Championship:

Winner of #1/#4or#5 vs winner of #2/#3

    Consolation game:

Loser of #1/#4or#5 vs loser of #2/#3

Region Tournament: This is exactly how the brackett is set up

    D8a#1 vs D7a#4

    D7a#2 vs D8a#3

    D8a#2 vs D7a#3

    D7a#1 vs D8a#4

    Sub State:

    R3a#2 at R4a#1

    R4a#2 at R3a#1

    State Tournament:

Always a random draw to see who plays who but teams from the same secional, our secional are teams from R4a and R3a, are always on opposite sides of the bracket.

I hope this answers your question in detail!

Are the dates/times set for the district and region tournaments yet? Location?

  8. 5 teams that could possibly come out of region 4a in no paticular order:

    #1 Red Boiling Springs

    #2 Friendship Christian

    #3 Pickett County

    #4 Jackson County

    #5 Clay County

Top players in region 4a to watch for in no paticular order:

    #1 Trent Boles

    #2 Wes Grace

    #3 Jordan Godwin

The only good team, with the way it looks, is CSAS. Any team out of Region 4a will go down there and probably lose. For a region 4a team to go to the state tournament it will have to be by winning the region tournament and hosting the sub-state game.

    Teams from 4-A:

CSAS- beat Silverdale by 40 and Temple by 41 this week.

Signal Mtn.- up and down but hosting the region tourney

Grace- experienced coaching staff but inexperienced guards

Van Buren- best team in 6-A right now but an unknown

Darkhorse team- could be Lookout Valley, Temple, or Silverdale

No team has dominant players other than CSAS. The Patriots are twelve deep and play twelve every game.

  9. how is it that FCS (#5 in the CoachT strength and success rankings) who has only one loss to a single A team cant get into the top ten polls? i'm not sayin they should be #1 or anything but by looking at their record (15-2) and some of the teams they've beaten: Portland (AAA) Coffee County (AAA) and Ezell Harding (D2 1A). I just cant see how these guys cant be somewhere in the top 10 or at least in the section of "Receiving 12 points or more"

You have an argument to make, but so do a lot of teams. CSAS made the poll this week but are better than most if not all of those ranked above them. That is simply the way polls are----hard to explain, understand, or agree with!

  10. I have stayed quiet cause im not sure of a couple teams talked about in this thread.

Hampton will be heard from this year.....should've last.

Has played a tough preseason schedule and beat or played to the last minute with area power house teams! Not you typical single A team

What exactly do you mean that Hampton is not your typical single A team. I know nothing about them. Who are the powerhouse teams they have beat or played?

    Thanks for the information.

  11. I got news for all of ya, there is NO WAY Forrest or Lake County deserves to be even mentioned in the top ten. 7 wins 8 losses? Are you kidding me? I don't care who you say you've played you have a losing record so end of discussion. LC is average at best, Forrest got beat by Moore County for crying out loud! Give me a break Jackson County had them down 35 in the 3rd quarter! Ya'll just keep believing these polls and lets see how far you get!

I agree that if you have a losing record or more than say 6 loses there is no way that you can expect to be ranked in a "beauty contest" such as the AP Poll. My question is about how polls are done. I would think that a poll ( and certainly the first poll of the year) would reflect three or four things- one, what did the team do last year (how did they finish)-two, how many players are back- three, their schedule and success against it-four, how are they are doing right now. Anybody agree? What teams deserve to be ranked if this criteria is used?

  12. I am actually curious about the game that was played. Didn't RBS beat Clay earlier in the season? Someone said RBS did not play well. Was that due to the snow days or because of Clay County? I had expected a better game. How important are #'s 11, 12 to RBS?

  13. commanders have tons of experience in their first 10-12 players (all being either juniors or seniors)

they have been successful in winning the close ones (5 games by 3 pts or less) including 2 overtime games

these kids just seem to have the desire to win no matter what it may take.

good luck to them and the rest of their season

    Commanders?
