  1. So much for the big game I thought TJ would have. I doubt he played 20 minutes the whole game. Going into this game I just thought TJ would have his way with Bolivar since they no longer have Whitehorn. I agree with GCPioneer, I have no idea why Kendall was not playing more minutes....only thing I can think of is he must be in the coaches dog house. Liberty never trailed and basically won this game without major minutes from there best two players..........but, I thought Dandre Barnett stepped up big time and had a great game. Barnett is a D1 talent and really has a chance to leave his mark on the Liberty program next season.

I was asking my buddy the whole time, why isn't Kendal in the game? Even when Bolivar made their run to cut the lead from 18 to 5, he left Kendal sitting on the bench. Kendal seems like a pretty good kid, but there's always stuff within the team that people on the bleachers don't see. Also yankees, why did Liberty's coach call a timeout after that layup while they had full momentum and were beating Bolivar up and down the floor? The timeout took away their momentum and allowed Bolivar to get right back into the game. Was there something that big that needed to be fixed in order to waste a timeout and take away momentum? I agree with you about Barnett. The dude can shoot the 3 ball well and can post up if needed to as he did while TJ and Kendal were out last night.

Did anyone see Dexter work his magic last night from the scores table? I don't know if I was the only one to see this or not, but between the third and fourth quarter, Dexter went up to the white bald headed ref and talked to him for about a minute. At that time the fouls was like 8 against Liberty and 1 against Bolivar. Almost every foul in that fourth quarter was called by that white bald headed referee and the majority were against Bolivar except for the obvious calls on the court and he still missed some of those. Me and the dude I was with both noticed it and thought it was quite funny. By saying this, I'm not knocking Dexter. It just shows how much authority Coach Dexter Williams still has in a game while sitting at a scores table, lol. Did he tell him he'd take him to dunkin' donuts after the game or what because whatever it was worked.

were you sitting close to the front on the bolivar side?

  2. Nobody ever said Melton couldn't coach. What was said was that Rudesill would not be outcoached by anybody in the state. Rudesill coaches Bolivar Boys and Girls both. He has been at Bolivar 10 years (maybe slightly longer) and this will be his 6th trip with the boys (won back to back to) and has taken the girls twice since he took over there about 5 years ago. Is there another coach in the state regarless of classification that has taken the boys and girls both to the state TWICE (in the same year) in the last four years? I alos know Rudesill has been to substate at least twice and come up short. Bolivar is good and competes for championships every single season since Rudesill has been there. Do the win it every season...NO.....but, they are one of the top AA programs in the entire state. They don't just compete and have great seasons every now and then like alot of other schools.

Can somebody from Bolivar tell me when Rudesill took over at Bolivar? Wasn't he at JCS or womewhere like that before going to Bolivar.

BTW, Rudesill must live and breath basketball to, just like Melton. Afterall, he does coach the girls and boys both. Pretty sure Rudesill's father was a longtime coach at Jackson NS as well.

He came to Bolivar in the late 90s...maybe 97ish... Coach at USJ prior to coming to Bolivar. And I'd say he lives and breathes basketball- I don't think the man ever leaves the gym

  3. I'm pulling for my alma mater. Go Tigers!

Bolivar has always had very good basketball teams....even back when I was in high school and Bolivar was playing in AAA...back in late 70's and 1980(when I graduated). We had Jose Crisp and Elvis Mitchell and Ricky Griggs. This was a very good team that got beat in the substate by Memphis Carver and Bobby Westbrook in something like a triple OT game that ended on a last second shot by Westbrook from the deep, baseline corner as he was falling out of bounds!!!!! It was crazy. It was a great game.

Jose Crisp went on to play for TN State, I believe; or was it E. TN State? after playing JUCO ball. Elvis was recruited by Union U., but I dont think he played any college ball, which was a shame. The fella could shoot. It was almost an automatic goal everytime he shot the ball. And, if I remember right, Bobby Westbrook went on to play for Vandy.

    Go Tigers!

Jose's son, Des, is a senior this year at Bolivar. Great kid and great ball player. Hope the Bolivar boys come out ready to play wednesday! would love to see another gold ball in our case /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

  4. who is the assistant coach at humboldt....well, i don't know if he's an assistant coach, but he helps out...he played for humboldt when i was cheering for bolivar....i think his name might be jonathan?

  5. the sun's been like that for as long as i can remember. yeah, we got more coverage this year bc we were defending state champs, but we've been as good and in most cases better than most of the teams they ALWAYS write about! they don't always give credit where the credit is due. but it's ok, after so many years of being looked over by the jackson sun, we are used to it. and there are TWO gold balls sitting in hardeman county today, so i think we'll be alright!

  6. I didn't want to comment on this, but I guess I'm gonna have to put in my two cents. As for the Bolivar/Giles Co. substate in 03, we were not given tickets. and trust me, there is NEVER any problem with getting the word out about tickets being presold. when a big game comes up, our fans automatically ask if and when they can buy their tickets early. and i'll say this one more time, and hopefully i can drop it forever. noone should ever say anything about mr. kessler, bc if they do, they have OBVIOUSLY never had to deal with the administration at Giles Co! They were horrible to us and it's one of those things that I will never get over. Between the administration before the game and the fans the rest of the time, it made our experience FAR from pleasant, enjoyable, or even bearable! ahhhhh...i'm done...i feel better now

  7. wow! talk about a team flying under the radar! i'm so excited for the Lady Tigers! It's amazing what a coaching change can do for a team. This is only Coach Rudesil's second year with the girls' team and they are now statebound after who knows how long! People are always talking about the talent on the boys team at Bolivar, and they ARE ubertalented, but I think this says a lot for the coaching! Way to go Lady Tigers! Cant wait to see ya'll play in the boro!

  8. i know what ya mean catfish-my dad was telling me how bad the Lexington fans were during regionals. i asked him were they as bad as the Giles County fans my senior year when we played them in Pulaski. He just kinda laughed and said..."nah, I don't think they were THAT bad!" Not to stir up old blood, but that was the worst experience I'd ever had with fans-and administration for that matter. they were horrible, but that's water under the bridge now!

Good luck to Bolivar, Humboldt, GC, and Waverly!

  9. sls, of course i'm partial because I was there, but i would definitely go with the 02-03 team. a couple bad breaks at the end kept us from being state champions that year. (i don't know if everyone recalls the Giles County last second shot?!) it's hard to guage which was better though b/c Bolivar is always stacked
