  1. Can anyone tell me if this game will be availbable via the internet?  My neice and her husband are stationed in New Mexico and are wanting to watch or listen to the game live.

I hope for a Marion victory tonite but i pray that all players, coaches, cheerleaders, students and fans travel to and play this game safely and free from harms way. I hope nothing but sportsmanship is displayed on both sides of the field as well as in the stands.  This should be a great atmosphere and a little bit of the area spotlight will be shown upon our little area.  Let us do nothing to give the appearance that we are not better people than what is displayed.  Some things have already taken place and it is really a shame but lets not look down on the many for the actions of the few.Good luck tonite Warriors and good luck to both teams throughout the playoffs.

  2. WRONG.........

1887-1910 PRYOR INSTITUTE Jasper, Marion Co.,TN

One of most Influential co-educational institutions in the Sequatchie Valley. Founded by Jackson & Washington Pryor & Col.A.L. Spears. Pryor Institute educated students of all ages from several states. The building was sold to become the Jasper High School in 1910 and later as Jasper Middle School.

An old frame school building located on Cedar Ave between 5th and 6th streets where the SVEC is currently located was built in 1898. The city moved the school to a modern brick building located 2 blocks south on Cedar Ave between 7th and 8th streets in 1924. The old frame building initially used as the school was used as an apartment complex until it burned in 1931. The modern brick structure served both grade and high school students until a modern grammer school was built in 1938. The brick structure was used as the high school until it was razed and replaced by the current modern day school in 1965 and serves students 7-12.

this is how the posting actually reads.  You can look it up.  Like some others have said, it does not matter what you call us.Jasper, Marion, or the School up the road.  I just want the old man to get his posting correct.  Like others, i can not wait til Friday.  Should be an electric atmosphere.  I hope the weather is good , everyone travels safely, and the game is played injury free.

  3. Marion should win this game but with the the way our defense is playing, anything is possibe. Lets take care of business and host that first round playoff game. Side note. I was very disappointed in the home crowd last Friday. I would love for the community to get out and support this team. Go Warriors!

  4. Old Pirate says some of you youngons knows a little & heard some great grand pappy stories....there was another one from back in the day! Recon some fellers from Jasvegas jest might have to help you skillet heads out....lol

Eddie Baker, and Bill Hall also were at Knoxville. Baker is now a scout with the Falcons if he has not changed teams.

  5. Can anyone from Marion tell me if the rumor is true....that they have a player from the 08 team helping coach. I remember him playing and he was very good and I think he would be a positive influence on the kids. Come on, someone must know? :popcorneater:

Yes he will be helping in a small role. Good to have him around. Boys seem to feed off of him

  6. :popcorneater:

Mike what are you waiting on to hear? Keep eating your popcorn because there is nothing out there that the powers to be dont know. Lake County made a decision and the Coach respects it and has moved on. Your dear friend Mr. Griffith must not of had any problems with the reasons he was not retained in Lake County or he would not be hear. Good luck to your boys this year in baseball. Welcome to Marion County Coach Mac.

  7. Most of the kids at MC have not lost faith in themselves. It has turned in to a respect thing if you ask me. None of the players don't respect their head coach. I hear bits and pieces from kids at the school, not just athletes but students as well. Kids don't want to go to his class, not because he is a stickler and makes them do their work, but because of things he says at times. The few times I have personally talked to him he seemed like a good guy, but there are many in the town of Jasper that are disgruntled. In small towns that thrive on sports, I know losing can be the end for a coach. For whatever reason there have been a lot of kids quit or not play because of the coach, not because of losing. Dumb decisions during the course of a game have been a concern too. I know a coach doesn't always call the right play, and I know it's easier to find faults when things aren't going the right way. I'm 35, bleed orange and black since birth, and crap (!) purple and white. IMO Marion needs someone fresh with winning tradition or some of those young guys on the staff need to step up. RESPECT IS A HUGE ASPECT OF COACHING

Mike, I dont agree with this entire statement you have posted. By no means am I or anyone else associated with Marion County happy with the situation that Marion County Football is in right now. Marion is down now but will be back again. It may or may not be with the current coach. I personally think we can with the current coach but I understand you have to win and losing is not acceptable. So with that said, i will tell you two things. One, My son respects Troy Boeck as well as he respects you and he doesnt even know you because that is the way he was raised. So please dont go putting words into my own son's mouth. He can speak for himself if he wants. Two, you may want to go see Dr. Boeck because i think you crapping purple and white is just not healthy. With that said, Good luck Marion this week and I wish continued success to the Pirates this season. May all the boys stay free from harm's way.

  8. Ok, let me clear some things up for you guys so you can move on to something else. Yes Marion is young but so are other teams and that is no excuse. The Grundy game is a game that Marion should have one. We did not block, catch the ball, hang onto the ball, nor did we tackle. Result was a loss. Bledsoe is a team that many are going to have a hard time with this year. Are they beatable, sure. It would have taken a near perfectly played game for Marion to do that. Now with Whitwell, I dont know what will happen. I think it is a game Marion should win but who knows how these 15 and 16 yr old kids are going to react to this game. As far as morale, only 1 player has quit and I dont think that had anything to do with football for the kid has had a rough year and I hope he finds his way back out there. As far as people leaving practice early, i have been to every practice with the exeption of one or two and no one had left early yet. The morale seems to be ok, no one likes to lose. I have ask my boy and he says the locker room is what you would expect, everyone just wanting to get a win. It is not one particular area such as to OL or DL that needs to improve, it is every position on the field. As far as the coaching situation, I have heard rumors and more than likely they were started on here by someone reading one of your post and then taking it to the water cooler. Troy knows he needs to win and i think he is making changes in the right direction for this team. I for one support this coaching staff and look forward to celebrating a win tonite. Go Warriors

  9. I think if Marion can play without the turnovers and tackle, we should win the game. Grundy is a big team and I am not sure that Coach Bryant showed all his weapons in the Jamboree. It usually does not matter what each team has, this is a good hard fought game. Time for these young Warriors to grow up and play like they are capable. May both teams stay free from injury and Go Warriors

  10. I am looking forward to seeing this year's team get started. They have worked hard in the off season in the weight room and on the track. They seem to have a good attitude going into this week of pads. We are still young with only five seniors. Only three of them played last year. Going to be interesting to see how it plays out. May all teams keep from harms way. Go Warriors! :thumb:

  11. Marion County School Policy states that no one can practice if school is dismissed for bad weather. In the past some coaches might have practiced anyway, but seeing how there was a coach in the system let go this year for violating that policy, I would say now one in the county; basketball, baseball, football or band practiced yesterday. I personally dont know, but that is probably why no one was there.

  12. "Can someone tell me why 5 wasn't dressed? He had turned my head early on but was out for some reason...Hope it's nothing serious I think he coulda helped if him and 7 had switched it up some"

Jake (#5) tore his ACL in the Cascade game and is out for the season. He is sch for surgery on Wed. I talked to him on the sidelines and he is sick about missing that game and the rest of the season. He is a real competitor and will be missed

sorry to hear about jake, I hope for a speedy recovery.
