  1. I've been camping quite a bit so far this summer:

Wayne County is the favorite in 1A. Long, athletic, and they shoot the basketball extremely well. Baugas is a Power 5 player, no doubt. Goal for them should be playing as much tough competition as possible.

Loretto looked good as well. Post player does a little bit of everything and they have a couple of kids that shoot the basketball extremely well. I look for them and Gibson County to start as the preseason favorites in 2A.

Rossview is gonna be a tough team in 4A. A very strong defensive club with speed and quickness, some tough guards, and a athlete in the post who will play D1 ball.

Creek Wood should be a state tourney team in 3A. Wing and post player played really well for them. Well-coached ball club.

Huntingdon is gonna be good as well. Obviously in the post, they are gonna be tough to handle. The guards will come along I think. They can shoot the 3, which helps them.

Peabody is now the victim of being in a TOUGH district with GC, Westview, and Huntingdon. But defense travels, and they are gonna find a way. Tough and scrappy bunch.

  2. Defensive struggle so far. Milan's offense so far looks very promising, despite the 2 drops from the WR's that should've been scores. Defense is playing strong so far. Peabody's offense is moving the ball, BUT down to the 3rd QB potentially, could be trouble. Defense looks very bendable but not breaking.

  3. So I looked at Alabama's enrollment numbers, and these are what they go by. Potentially a blueprint for us OR not.

    1A: 0-143

    2A: 144-221

    3A: 222-283

    4A: 284-372

    5A: 373-567

    6A: 568-1,045

    7A: 1,046 and up

Schools from 1A-5A play schools with the same OR close to enrollment. 5A and 6A is a HUGE gap, obviously that would have to be addressed some kind of way. But this is more in line of what we NEED.

  4. I really like the idea. I think we also need to copy our football model.

    Region 6-3A

    South Side

    North Side

    South Gibson

    McNairy

    Hardin County

    Lexington

    Chester County

    Bolivar

Travel here isn't much of a issue. Mostly everyone in this region is in close proximity to one another. Let's get with the modern times.

Also make the tourney like FOOTBALL. Top 4 in each region meet the neighboring region. And whittle it down to the final 4 at the state tournament.

  5. Bolivar has a problem. A serious problem. The best record they've had in the last 5-6 years and they run him off???? Feels like the parents are running this show and they want a "black coach" in charge. And it's not like anybody really wants the job, because Bolivar hasn't had much talent lately, and from what I hear, the kids don't really care about basketball.

  6. Went to Union yesterday. A few teams and players I saw.

KJ Tenner from Cordova is gonna be a very special player, about 5"10, shoots it well, very quick and shifty. Had about 25 against South Gibson. Cordova should be a tough out.

Blytheville (AR) looked very athletic and had some size. Heard the big kid they have has close to 20+ D1 offers. He definitely passes the eye test. Needs to continue to polish his offensive game.

North Side should be ok. Scoring may be a issue, but they should finish top two in 12-AAA.

South Gibson should still be pretty solid. Lost a few seniors, but they have a system and it's just plug and play with them.

Southwind is young and athletic as well, they will continue to improve and get better in the fall. Like the lefty PG they have, very quick and strong defensively, needs to continue working on the jumpshot.

  7. Haywood is the team to beat in 3A, along with Fulton. How they handle that is anyone's guess.

Bolivar should still be pretty good, young kids will give them a shot at a gold ball next 2-3 years.

Fayette-Ware is still gonna be in the picture, depth is gonna be a issue though.

Ripley and Crockett should be dark horses to make deep postseason runs.

Middleton should still be the team to beat in 1A, but I expect Humboldt to bounce back strong.

Region 7-2A looks to be Milan and Gibson.
