  1. If Riverdale was winning no one would care how coach A coached or how he is said to treat players. weight room, off season, spring drills, or anything else would matter if they were winning.

This shows your lack of knowledge on the subject. In 2009, when Riverdale played in the semi finals and "winning", people couldn't stand the way he ran the program then as well as his whole demeanor and lack of people skills. This was also a time in which there were still 80-100 kids on the team, but he's gonna play 6-8 kids both ways and the 2's would only see the field in the last 3 minutes if lucky. Failure to get the backups ready to play. He only needs a roster of about 25 kids anyway, since that's the most he'll ever play in a season.

  2. Maybe their all is just not enough. Number of the players during Rankin that played college ball, number of players that played college ball during Aydelott. Is there a difference? Players go to college and play from winning teams and losing teams. Coaches get way too much credit and blame. Rankin - credit, Aydelott- blame.

A lot has to do with building a rapport with your players also. Rankin, as hardcore as he is, he has always seemed to have players that would run through a brick wall for him. Whereas Aydelott just tries to be hardcore and his players would rather push him into that brick wall. Not to mention what the parents of the players would like to do or say to him, but then that would be taken out on their son and cost him playing time. I've seen this first hand.

  3. Let's give credit where credit is due. Although Riverdale has been in a downward spiral for years, this Blackman team made Riverdale look pretty bad too! Blackman's lines controlled the line of scrimmage all night long, which in turn allowed our backs to run inside throughout the game. Did Blackman even run outside the tackles with a RB at all? I don't think so, just a couple of QB keepers that went off tackle. That alone speaks volumes.

  4. Riverdale will be the team to beat, they are returning a lot of experience. Oakland lost a lot and will be rebuilding, possibly reloading. Not sure what Smyrna has coming back so don't know about them. Blackman is returning the majority of defense, but will have to replace the majority of the offense. They do have young talent that could make some noise. I see those as the top four in no particular order.

  5. Lots of people are making really ignorant assumptions about this situation. Does anyone really think that a simple disagreement of philosophy would lead a new principle in Rutherford County to axe a very popular and successful coach all on her own? Surely she understands just how important football is in Rutherford county right? A power hungry woman? The school board is involved and has made this decision. It wasnt about simply philosophy and It appears that last season was the last season that Shadowens will coach in a Rutherford County public school. Those who are passing around petitions and having meetings and calling for blood are making ####es of themselves.

I really think people are smart enough to know that there is more to it than philosophies, but know one wants to say anything, that info is top secret. However, there doesn't seem to ever be an issue when a teacher gets a DUI, that info goes all over. By them not wanting to say anything just makes them look suspicious. From my understanding, with the exception of the principal and the booster club president, everyone else is onboard, maybe those two are in cahoots and are trying to cover something. But then there I go making an assumption and I guess making an arse out of myself. Not the first and won't be the last. Until someone tells the people something, they are only left to their assumptions. Maybe since you appear to know it all maybe you can enlighten everyone.

  6. Apparently there's more to the situation than is being put out. The whole "philosophical differences" thing was just put out for media purposes. It's ongoing and the community isn't taking this lightly as well as demanding answers from the administration and elected officials. To borrow a quote from Shakespeare, "something is rotten in the state of Denmark". Stay tuned ...

  7. This was all the principal ... She wanted 100% control over the football program and when he said that he had never heard anything like that in his 21 years and that he didn't want to have to place a purchase order for tape and such. She said that that they obviously had a difference in philosophies on how this program is gonna be run. She then gave him the choice of resigning or being fired. He really didn't have a choice in this matter. She's power hungry.

  8. I understood and agree with the point you were making, I was just curious as to the ranking website since it was so different than the one I posted. With Ensworth beating BA, they could possibly move into the top 100 on the website I posted giving Tennessee 5 teams on that list, not too shabby!
