who is principal? Bob Gideon. He finally fired the rest of the Perry regime, and brought in some coaches who care about the kids and have imagination. I know we have not won YET but it has been exciting watching the panthers sling the ball all over the field. Wow 2 weeks in a row running hook-n-ladder. It can’t be stopped. I apologize Panther Fans for the way GUNRIGHT 01 is talking he is not a Portland fan just trying to make a scene. I know for a fact he is either a COACH or PLAYER for PORTLAND. So ignore all the post. Don’t know why you would put our team down like that. I HOPE YOU ARE NOT THE ONE trying to LEAD our BOYS to VICTORY. IF so no wonder WHY we are STRUGGLING. Good Luck Friday (Panthers) and don’t listen to all the negative people like GUNRIGHT01. Keep playing hard and we will get that 1st win.

Portland did play better last week. We also got a few things going on offense. We have a pretty good QB that is running the veer pretty good, and with all the trickery going on (nice hook-n-ladder) Portland looks to finally put up some points against an inferior opponent. We can finally exploit our passing game because Station Camp looks to have a weak secondary. Don’t see many of there DBs matching up with our # 9. PHS will get 1st win. PHS 19 SCHS 10

I have been watching Portland football since my nephew was a freshman on the 2000 state championship team. The year we won state we had around 15 to 20 seniors. Just like this year. As best as I can remember the players from those years were not very big and are very comparable to the players they have now. (Big tackles and little guards), and by attending the last couple of lift-a-thons, they seam about as strong as the panthers of old. We also have a bigger population in the school. Playing in 5A instead of 3A. So what gives? Why cant our boys’ win? People said it was the wing-t and we go to the spread and we still are not winning. Is it coaching? Like someone said in an earlier post, Portland got beat by Hillsboro in 05’ by like 40 points. Coach Perry was here. And now we got beat by a less talented KY team. Some say it comes and goes in cycles (what about WHHS, Beech, Gallatin, Hendersonville when are they going to be 1-9, 2-8, or 0-10?) Just frustrated will everyone doubting the Panthers. All I would really like to see tomorrow night is for the panthers to compete (something we were not even close to doing last week). Portland’s Principal has done a great job of hiring coaches. He has hired 5 new coaches who work well with the athletes at Portland. He went out and hired a boys basketball coach from Brentwood. (Who has coached at several colleges and knows what it takes to play at that level). A boys baseball coach from Chattanooga who is very passionate about the game . A football coach from Murfreesboro who is very knowledgeable and has played in a state championship game (so he knows what it takes to get there. He also doesn’t run wing-t, big plus). A girls basketball coach from Alabama that is very energetic, and a soccer coach from Gallatin who has taken them to the playoffs. Portland’s Principal is also working to get them off the states target list for graduation. So hold up before you start calling someone shady . Portland will be ready Friday night, they have something to prove. Portland 7 WHHS 0.

Portland has a lot of returning starters and they will bounce back from a humiliating loss against greenwood. We over looked greenwood White House you wont be so lucky. PHS 7 WHHS 3 Good luck to both sides always a good game

One of the best rivalries in the state. This is the game both teams look forward too their whole season. White House was off last weak playing in a jamboree vs. Gallatin. Herd they took it to them. Portland had a bad outing last week but look to pick it up this week against WHHS. Portland will learn a lot from last week’s game and be ready to go. Portland has 6 or more returning starters on offense and 7 or more on defense, with that type of experience I look for Portland to rebound quickly. White House lost a lot of starters off a talented 08 team. (They should have won state) With around 4 returning starters on both sides of the ball. Looks to be a good game, as to be expected when these two teams come together. Love to hear anybody else’s opinion over this big rivalry Go PHS!

I think Portland owns Gallatin in the overall series don’t get too cocky. You still have to play the game. Anybody can win on any giving night.

Some good players returning for SC Brandon Porch QB, punt retuner Robby Ignagni lineman Jacob Hamblen RB, DB Daryll Eubanks back, LB Mathew Hinricher WR, FS will take over kicking chores Jesse Carrigan has potential at center and nose guard Madison Tate-Booker is fast if his leg heals That's about all I know since so many starters were lost. All right Panther fans, the season is finally upon us. We finally have something to be excited about. New Coach Gary Sanders has the Panthers fired up and ready for action. The panthers had a good fall. They hung with Shelby central, tied Springfield and took it to 1st year team Clarksville West Creek. We have a lot to be excited about this year we have new coaches, a new offense, and more players then we have had in over 8 years. We open up with Greenwood Ky. Friday at Home. A team we have never lost to and don’t see that changing anytime soon. Panthers 1-0 Come Out and Support the Panthers this Friday night and see all the excitement for yourself. 7:00pm August 21 @ Edgar Johnson Stadium
