  1. We (DeKalb) are (still) undefeated in the region. Big win for us tonight. The region championship will be decided in a couple of weeks when we play Uppperman.
  2. No doubt DCTIGERFAN.... they have run that "WingT/Veer offense" since I played (mid 80s), even their "Jr Pro" teams have always run it (I coached one of DeKalb's "Jr Pro" teams about 10 years ago). I would consider a "spread" way different.
  3. Warren had their share of turnovers too, but I agree that our receivers dropped some balls that were not only "catchable", but RIGHT IN THEIR HANDS and on key downs, deep in WC territory. Then, the 1st down fumble (on the snap) at the 4 yard line didn't help either. Realistically, the game could have been 7 points "worse" in DeKalb's favor, but I am just happy with the win. After WC scored on 4 plays to start the game, I was like "here we go again, another crappy DC defense", but after that, the defense really settled in and started flying around. I am not sure if it was the adjustments (BLITZING) or just the players getting comfortable (probably both), but I believe the Defense only game up 100 yards after that and most of those were on 3-4 long runs. Good game, Tigers, but you boys are going to need some improvement before next weeks game in Stone Memorial. With that being said, I know you can do it and "expect" a win.
  4. No way it was 17.... was it?? It seemed more like 5-7 but I could be wrong.
  5. Something I was thinking about tonight.... We were never a passing school before Poteete came along. One of my buddies was at the game tonight and he hadn't been to many games lately and he was amazed with our Spread Offense. For instance, we were up by only a TD with 6 minutes to go in the game and had the ball on our own 10 YD line. What do we do? We come out with our typical 5 WR spread formation (the whole posesssion!). I have just gotten so used to it over the past couple of years with this team that I forget sometimes how rare that is at the High School level! (Especially with the game on the line and deep in your own territory!) I can't remember NOT lining up with at least 4 Wide Outs, and many times we are in the 5 WR set.
  6. I'm going to guess he had 200 Passing and 150 Rushing, but that is a total guess since I really didn't keep up with it that close. The running game was working so well that we really didn't pass much. (I would say less than 25 attempts...which for us is "not much"!) The Rookie Senior Tyler Weatherby looked very fast. I heard he runs a 4.4 40 and can bench a Mack Truck. He sure did look fast. We need him to balance the offense and he probably had about 100 Yards rushing on 10 - 15 carries. I didnt see him play much Defense. We sorely need more playmakers on Defense. I don't understand how we can have so much speed on Offense and none on Defense when it is pretty much the same players! I could be totally off on these stats since I was paying more attention to the game, the line of scrimmage, tackling, etc. Honestly, we should have won by 2 or 3 TDs, the pick 6 rioght before the half was a 14 point swing. Poteete could have easily ran that one in, I think he just forced it...feeling a bit invincible. It may have been a "good" thing that he was reminded that he can't make EVERY throw imaginable. (He did make an awesome throw in the 3rd Quarter. He was running full speed to his left and threw to his left down the sideline (about 40 Yds on a rope) where Edwards caught it and was pushed out at the 1 or 2 YD line. After 3 and a half years starting at QB, he continues to amaze me with some his throws.)
  7. DC - 35 - Oneida 21 Poteete - 350 Passing Yards, 4TDs and 85 Rushing Yards, 1 TD (He wont get 100 rushing since our key RB is due back.) Smith 38 @ Gordonsville 17 Livingston Acad. 24 @ Stone Memorial 10 Upperman 14 vs Monterey 21 Cannon Co. 24 @ West Creek 14 York 27 vs Scott Co. 14
  8. I'm going to step up to the plate here and go out on a limb. My prediction is DC - 35 - Oneida 21 Poteete - 350 Passing Yards, 4TDs and 85 Rushing Yards, 1 TD (He wont get 100 rushing since our key RB is due back.) Good luck Oneida, let's just pray for NO INJURIES!
  9. Those four teams you listed? Yes I think they "could" hold us under 4 TDs.... The other "on and on and on"....no in my opinon I can't think of many more teams that could. Now, I am certainly not saying we wouldn't give up 6 or 8 or even more TDs to those four teams.. But, we will get our points 9 out of ten times. Let's see what happens Friday night. If we put up 4 TDs like I predict against the "vaulted" Oneida Defense then I think we can say that we are on our way to being one of the top Offenses in the state. If not, then I will admint that I was wrong.
  10. I agree D1. Johnson and Weatherby are both considered "studs" on Offense, but I think we missed them more on Defense Friday night. I think getting back a Senior DE and Senior LB will be a huge help this Friday. Let's hope so anyway!
  11. Ok... but, what's you point? I have known all along that SC is a great team. I was on the first team that went to the state playoffs from DeKalb (my Senior Year) and our only district loss was to SC. So, I know they have been great for years. (I think your coach left after that year and went to Riverdale if I remember correctly, but SC didn't miss a beat did they?) I am not sure what point you are trying to make. That SC has a good team? Well, I certainly agree with that. By the way. My mistake...we had 9 Receivers with catches. So... take that...
  12. It will be interesting to say the least. We made Warren County's offense look like the New Englad Patriots. So, I guess I am saying we had better put up 4 TDs cause I expect to give up at least 4!
  13. crow I would almost guarantee that both teams will score 4 TDs each this week. Our defense should be better with two Senior starters back (DE and LB), but it it still pretty weak. Without our QB I am not sure we would beat many teams on our schedule (probably none!), but with him we can beat anybody and I am not sure there is a team in the state that can hold us under 4 TDs. Last Friday night, pretty much every WR that played caught a long pass. Even though Edwards had over 200 Receiving Yards, 6 other Receivers caught passes! If he stays healthy Poteete should run away with the Mr Football title this year. I just hope our Defense can improve enough for us to make the playoffs. I really hope both teams leave the game healtly, the injury bug is a very bad thing!! Good luck!
  14. No doubt about it. OL and DL will be our only holes this year and obviously that can make or break a team. I was a lineman (DL) myself and understand the importance of the line. Now, if there is any QB in the state that can play and succeed behind a makeshift line it is Poteete, which is why I still have high expecatations of this team. I think they will come together, I just hope 'Teete is in early season shape for all the running he will be doing! The scary thing is his numbers will probably be better this year! I expect to be in many shootouts this year due to the lack of linemen and a great Defense.
  15. D1 refuses to comment on Defense until a later date. Whether this is a good decision by the DeKalb coaching staff or not (I think it is!). It looks like Poteete will play safety this year. As good as he is on Offense (he got robbed in the Mr Football Award last year by the kid from David Lipscomb) he is as good or better on defense. Think about that for a second. He could end up with 6 or 7 picks this year (or none of course). Only time will tell.
