  1. just wanna chip in real quick and state that I got a little carried away, sorry. looking back, some of the statements were a little irrational, and obnoxious at some points.
  2. Patriot 04 and Redswarm10, we ran the I formation with Shonte as QB plenty of times, and more times than not, we got snuffed out and were forced to punt. The only reason we ran it as much as we did was to run out the clock in the 4th quarter. McCadams had a well-blocked first-down run to move the chains and McFerrin continued to show his presence by plowing his way for 4 yards at a time to also keep the clock running. We didn't do that with Shonte at QB, we would get stuffed on 3rd and 2/3rd and 3. Enter McCadams. Offense suddenly comes alive again, pulls their ears back and shows everyone the hard-nosed HC grind they've shown all year. Everyone agrees Shonte's a playmaker, and a heck of one at that. Everyone's quick to give Jay the boot when Shonte returns, but fellow HC fans stick with me on this one: Give Jay this next game against Clarksville High, see what he does, and then make your judgement. RedSwarm10 apparently fails to give McCadams a chance with the firsdt team offense, seeing as he HASN'T HAD ONE ALL YEAR. If we watch Jay with the first team, I'm sure we'll see some amazing plays, a fresh morale for our Patriot offense, and the EXPLOSIVENESS that will be brought along with it.
  3. Well props to Jay McCadams, but I've seen him play enough to know he's certainly no Shonte Sims, passing or running. You could make an argument with the fact that he has played mostly with the JV in running clocks, but Shonte is simply a playmaker. He keeps the defense on their heels every time he touches the ball. No offense to Jay McCadams, who I'm sure will do just fine next week if last night was any indication. But if I had to pick my QB, the person who touches the ball every single snap, I'm taking Shonte over McCadams easily. No brainer in my opinion, but thats just me. But either way, Go Big Red!!! Shonte is a playmaker, but as we've all seen in the past 2-3 years, he's better known for his defensive plays of pure brilliance. Offenses lined up against HC knowing that he lurks in the secondary like a tiger stalking his prey. Sure he's done exceptionally well this year. However, did anyone else notice how in the second half, whenever Jay was put in the game after Shonte went down, the offense suddenly was revived? He led them on two scoring drives, while also keeping the defense motivated to hold the fierce running game of Northeast to 7 points. It seemed to me that the offensive team was more responsive to McCadams than when Shonte was in there. Now, Shonte is one of the best defensive-back players to come through HC, and his presence will definitely be missed. But I can't believe how some people "RedSwarm10" can doubt Jay's abilities without getting see what he can do with the first-team offense! He played 3 snaps against Liberty with them, only because Shonte caught a minor cramp. Since then, he's been stuck with the second team, and has tried his darndest to make the best out of what little they support him with. West Creek was a prime example, given the sloppy conditions. Bad snaps with the second team, while Sims went on with like 10 total first-team offensive snaps, and never had one bobbled. Give Jay a chance before you count him out of the QB race. I know he'll raise some eyebrows and answer some questions friday night against Clarksville High.
  4. Shonte suffered a strained MCL, nothing major. his ankle was swollen a bit when he returned to the fieldhouse after the game. I expect McCadams to get the start this friday against clarksville, giving shonte another rest, as well as having the bye week the following friday, and getting him back out there for dickson county on the 23rd. But if McCadams shows out this next week, i wonder if shonte will move back to his head-hunting safety position, and Jay run the offense (he's proven himself worthy), and might i add, the secondary had a very awful tackling game friday night.
  5. As we saw this past Friday against Liberty, Henry County still has a lot of improving to do, but there are some serious issues that need to be addressed: Shonte Sims cannot play the whole game on both sides of the ball. He could've seriously injured himself even worse than the minor cramp he suffered during the game. Henry County's going to lose their best player if he's playing both defense and offense every game; it somewhat happened whenever Calvin McNairl was still playing. He injured himself playing both ways, and he was never as agile as he was to start the season ever again. Shonte needs to be limited to one side of the ball, the coaches need to make up their mind as to whether to keep him in the secondary, or have him run the offense. McCadams, in my opinion, can run this offense just fine, he's as smart as Marsalis is, and he's got a good QB swagger, but Shonte needs to be taken care of if Henry County is wanting to put on another productive year. The offensive line needs to work harder. I remember one play where the whole D-Line of Liberty sacked Shonte for a 6-yard loss. But, given that it's only the first game, I'm hesitant to criticize too much, but there's some significant points they need to work out if the O-Line wants to be as dominant as they were last year. The receiving core did a fair job. Not too many passes were bobbled/dropped, other than the one where Shonte missed a wide open Skylar Haley in the endzone, and the interception also thrown by Sims. Najee Ray is a fast, elusive individual. We need to run more plays to him, whether it's throwing or running; the same goes for Greg Kendall, he's as fast as Ray is, and can also make tacklers miss. The secondary could use the most work. Haley is not that good as safety. All he does is catch. He's a poor tackler, and does nothing but take cheap shots/blindside receivers running downfield. He's not quick at all, and can't keep up with the quicker receivers Henry County will see down the road. He is merely nothing more than what people around him build him up to be. Neal Capps could've saved a TD, having Liberty's runningback within arm's grasp until letting him go free. thank you for your time.....NiNjA sTaR
