Booger will even toss in maybe the 93 Cleveland team as a team Lipscomb woulnt have beat....or maybe it was 92 (one of those early 90's cleveland teams was sick good.....thinkin Cleveland might have beat a undefeated BA that was nation ranked that year.......Flea would have no ID on how big and fast that team was....

....maybe some of you east tn folks remember that team

    ..the list gets larger

    Booger just sayin

I would put that 93 team as the 4th best. They were ridiculous that year, and really good all surrounding years. They were huge and very fast. East TN guys let me know if these names ring any bells:

Dante Hickey, The Cobb Twins, Corey Prigmore, all of those huge linemen, and whoever that massive fullback was!

All in good fun buddy…that’s what message boards are all about..didn’t mean to make you upset….not trying to beat my chest…just trying to have a fun debate.

Go watch MBA vs Clarksville NE 1995 on you tube and get back with me. This is not about LA.  It’s more about comparing eras.  They are small and SLOW compared to the top teams today.

Im not upset. It pains me to speak well of BA, I just have never seen anything like it. I don't need to watch the video, I was there if it was the one in clarksville. After watching the games this weekend, I can easily say there were no better players than Will Bartholomew and Travis Stephens on any of those teams. If i recall, Bartholomew was not close to being the biggest guy on his team and he isn't small. Don't think i would ever call Travis Stephens or Tim Terry slow either. Generalizations are too vague. It wouldn't be accurate for me to assume every kid is soft now, just because the game itself is softer now. A lot of the kids i saw this weekend would get hurt playing some of these "small, slow" guys.

That may be what they weigh now but certainly not then…bland was 320 at Texas…maybe he dropped 45 pounds in college.  That team almost dropped one to Clarksville NE in playoffs…score was 7-3 I think…thinking Thompson was a little better than that Clarksville team.  As much as you want to, you can’t compare teams from 30 years ago to today…schemes and strength programs are massively more advanced.  Plus that BA team played a very weak schedule….not their fault but just the facts.

If you know that Richard Land was his name, that means you must have seen that team play. If you saw them live, there is no way that you really think this Lipscomb team would beat them. Also that Clarksville NE team was undefeated and 14th in the country at that time. Don't think we want to start debating weak schedules. BA only finished 3rd in the country that year, so probably not very good. I believe this Lipscomb team is the best since the MBA teams of early 2000's. Why not enjoy a really impressive season without beating your chest, and trying to bash entire decades? Loads of talent doesn't necessarily make you the best. The 2012 BA team had 5 NFL guys on the team(3 starters, including Jalen Ramsey), and still got beat.

  4. Ive stated this before when every team that wins state claims to be the best ever. By the way that BA team had a 6'7 365lb left tackle(Texas). Their defensive line was as follows: 6'4 255, 6'7 285, 6'2 245, 6'6 260. Not to mention 6'3 and 6'2 receivers. This is the tiny team from the 95 BA squad!

I was more of an MBA fan then, but that BA team was the best I have seen in the 46 years I have followed TN high school football(even better than the 72 TN High team). With the big uproar now over financial aid, let's remember then you could only have 3 football players on financial aid actually play. They had the best coaches and unbelievable talent!

That BA team had the most dominating defense this state has seen. The starting defense was loaded with college players. Here is their lineup and college they played at:

    DE Air Force
    DT MTSU
    NG nowhere
    DT Memphis
    DE Tennessee
    LB Nebraska
LB Georgia Military ( Tito Lee. The best player on the team, but didn't qualify)
    CB Virginia Tech
    CB Tennessee
    SS Vanderbilt
    FS Tennessee

Most of these guys played on offense too. An offense that had receivers that went to Ole Miss and Army, and a tackle that went to Texas.

Should bee a good game, the paying for both games seems a little odd though.

I'm sure BA did this to make sure that Whitehaven would say yes. They, and many of us in DII, have been turned down for games with different excuses. Ensworth has paid before just to travel for one year. I bet the 8 or 10 thousand is nothing to BA. BA usually plays a fairly new program from out of state each year. They pay them a ton of money to come play, to help out their programs. Two years ago, they had a team from Florida come up. They paid for travel, hotel, and got all of them tickets to the Vanderbilt game the next day. This year, they let a team take old equipment and jerseys back with them.

Them folks in Brentwood ain't trying to come to memphis lmao...Now most of the parents who's kids are from Nashville will travel.

I have spoken with the person that actually schedules the games. It is a home and home, and BA will go to Whitehaven in 2020 while still paying them. They don't mind traveling anywhere. BA will go to GA, Al, and Memphis next year. They have gone to LA(to play a Texas team), KY, Memphis, and MS in the last few years. Be careful what you wish for! I wish Ensworth would schedule some out of state teams for us to play!

  7. Ignorance is Bliss I guess.

    2016 Results

    Baylor(D2AA) 35 Rhea County (5A) 0

    Briacrest (D2AA) 41 Germantown (6A) 28

    CBHS (D2AA) 22 White Station (6A) 14

    CBHS (D2AA) 41 Houston (6A) 21

    MBA (D2AA) 49 Pearl Cohn (4A) 7

    McCallie (D2AA) 49 Blackman (6A) 10

    MUS (D2AA) 19 Memphis Central (5A) 13

    MUS (D2AA) 40 Ridgeway (4A) 22

    Pope John Paul (D2AA) 54 (6A) Coffee County 14

Average D2AA Baylor mercy ruled 5A Rhea County who pushed 5A state champion Farragut to the wire 33-30 in the playoffs.

Pearl Cohn only lost one other game all year... To Memphis East by a single point.

Christian Brothers a below average D2AA beat 6A WhiteStation worse than 6A state champion Whitehaven did.

MUS another average D2 school also beat Ridgeway by the same amount as your 6A State Champs Whitehaven.

McCallie, the fourth best team in D2 beat the 6th ranked 6A Blackman by 39.

Ensworth beat 2A champion Trez 54-14.

I can even throw in some smaller D2 schools like Lausanne and Webb who beat 5A and 6A teams this year.

Webb beat Oak Ridge who is the only team to beat 5A state champ Farragut this year.

There is proof of D2 schools not only going undefeated but also whooping 5A and 6A schools. There is nothing more to say. The proof is in the games played and common opponents. If you want to continue to be ignorant than by all means continue. Whatever helps you sleep well at night.

I have much respect for Whitehaven Oakland and Maryville and I do believe these teams could field competitive games but for you to honestly think anyone else could come within a couple scores of the top D2AA teams just shows how delusional you are.

Don't forget that one of the worst DII teams (Briarcrest) beat Germantown by 13, while Whitehaven only beat them by 7.

  8. Dude I don't care if they beat you by one point its still a loss....to what yall call a inferior school...yall the one that has something to prove we don't. ..we don't need a come up!!! 2 out of 3 6a championships speaks volumes buddy!!!!

6A? The same one that Ravenwood won last year?

  9. 7 point WIN > 4 point loss to a team you should NEVER lose to.

You acting like the posters on this board can make this decision, lol. We don't want or need your money, we're fully funded and thriving over here. I didn't know that stating opposing opinions on a message board was considered attacking. Sorry for bringing you so much pain and suffering.

How about a 40 point win?

  10. Were not ducking at all, already waiting to see how things pan out with another out of town team and scheduling...I know you didn mention Ensworth..Trezvant kicked they butt so I know they not ready for us...

Are you talking about 2015 when they beat us by 4? The same year a lot of people kicked our teeth in, including BA beating us by 42. Or are you talking about this year when we beat them by 40. You all take the same route that you attack others for taking. We could easily mention the 7 point win at home against Germantown. Only one way to prove it, if nothing else you get $8,000 out of the deal.

  11. You know, it's dangerous and reckless to get on a message board and start throwing out insinuations and allegations about scheduling games.

However, I feel confident in saying this. If Whitehaven is going to play any D2 school. I know Whitehaven is going to want a home/home contract where the D2 school comes to Whitehaven's field the first year of the contract. Then Whitehaven will travel to them the next year.

I'm pretty sure if a game is set up those will probably be basic items required to get the deal done.

Lol, like Whitehaven is dodging a D2 school.

I do respect your opinion, because the series are usually home/home. I can tell you, as the one that made the call, the money was significant and involved us coming to Memphis the first year. It also involved us trying to find 2 other teams to play back to back games at either The Liberty Bowl or Vanderbilt. If we could not make it work with two other teams, we would return to Whitehaven for the second year as well. I'm not on here to debate who is better than who, just simply using every avenue to get games since all local teams flee.

  12. I have heard the same thing EHSfan they are the ones ducking not BA and ensworth

I'm not sure it's ducking, because there are some logistics to work out. But we were able to find dates and were willing to travel, but they have to think about whether a loss would be worth it.

  13. Here they go again!!!! Now we have more teams Da Haven would never stand a chance at beating....let me guess why, because we only scored 12 against oakland right? ? Lol....surely our defense would be no match for them either....smh

Talk to your coach. Two of us DII schools(Ensworth and BA, that i know of) have offered "Da Haven" thousands of dollars to play. Let's find out!!

  14. They beat a Riverdale team loaded with talent in 95. Biggers was great and single handily beat my MBA team in 96, but he was not their best player. That team had 10 out of 11 defensive players play major D1 sports(9 football, 1 baseball). That BA team had the most dominating defense this state has seen. The starting defense was loaded with college players. Here is their lineup and college they played at:

    DE Air Force
    DT MTSU
    NG nowhere
    DT Memphis
    DE Tennessee
    LB Nebraska
LB Georgia Military ( Tito Lee. The best player on the team, but didn't qualify)
    CB Virginia Tech
    CB Tennessee
    SS Vanderbilt
    FS Tennessee

Most of these guys played on offense too. An offense that had another receiver that went to Ole Miss and a tackle that went to Texas. That offense also averaged 44.3 points/game
