Just make sure they got 2 cooks because @H2Omanand I might make one quit.
Lots of franchised restaurants at exit 49 (which is Hwy. 30 that will take you to Etowah and McMinn Central). Anything from a Cracker Barrel, Ruby Tuesday, Applebees, Western Sizzlin, Buddy's BBQ, to a plethora of fast food burger, taco, pizza places. There's a Japanese place and an all you can eat Chinese place. There's a great Mexican place near the exit that fixes some awesome wings, and there's a couple other very good Mexican places too. Michael's (already mentioned by Yeti) has some excellent meals. One of my favorites is the Gondolier - they have very good pizza and food.... and an all you can eat salad bar, Greek and Italian sandwiches and plates.
Etowah has a couple of good eateries too, but Athens has a much larger selection.

I believe this game depends on if Watertown can get pressure on the qb enough to affect his passing lanes! Not sure we can hold up on the back end. McMinn will score points, the question is can Watertown score more. These teams look equal so whoever makes the least mistakes win.
Give us some of the top places to eat.
What type foods do you like?

We winning Friday. Our freshman QB is the real deal and enough said about our defense. Purple swarm is in full effect. Look at what we did to Community. Looking forward to the trip. Any good eating establishments in Athens?
I wouldn't be bragging about what Watertown did to Community. They're just one of many teams that dominated them.
There are lots of great eating places in Athens.- 1

I’m just glad they aren’t playing next to the chocolate factory. I do remember JC and Cleveland scrimmaging 2 yrs in a row with the good QB from Cleveland . I think he played at Pitt.
M&M/Mars. The sweet smell of money.

I was not on the team but it was 9-7 final. One of the hardest hitting games I have ever seen. Only FG that kicker ever attempted. 46yds on last play
I remember that he was "full-figured".
I was friends with both head coaches but sat with the JC crowd since Craig was a former Fighting ####. Cleveland's only loss that year prior to this playoff loss was to Rhea County. I get the years mixed up but I think it was Rhea County who beat the Patriots the next week in the semifinals, though JC had beat them during the regular season? -
Were any of you JC guys on the team that beat Cleveland in the playoffs in the mid 80's. I remember it being a very low scoring game and the JC kicker kicking a field goal at the end to win the game.

We still scored 28 points on you in one half. That's probably more than anyone else has scored on you all season. The first half is part of the game too. Just saying. Also, is that a loser mentality? Or is it a loser mentality to have your starters in until the very end when you have a big lead because you got embarrassed in the first half.
Not trying to be a rear-end but scoring 28 points on a team in a half and calling it a moral victory is like telling the players they're 'Champions of Life'. Yes, it was a good thing for a half, but......

EH is no doormat. They've got some athletes, and they beat a really good Walker Valley team a couple of weeks ago, so the result against Rhea County was really surprising to me. I think you'll see some points scored in this one, but I still like OR to get to the QFs, and probably the SFs.
Tough road though. Gonna have to beat EH, rematch with McMinn (or Clinton), and probably WV.
McMinn has a couple of their best starters out on defense from their first meeting with OR. They're still pretty good on D, but their offense was anemic last night against Walker Valley.

Dug into this on a little last week. Incredibly even match up on paper (we all know games aren’t played on paper). Cleveland is 6-4 with the 4 losses to team whose record is 31-9. Only “bad” loss was at Maryville. They have lost 3 of their last 4 with the win over a bad Hardin Valley team. The teams they beat had a 45% win percentage. Jeff Co is 9-1 and has won 9 straight. Only loss was week 1 at Oak Ridge (8-2). The teams they beat also had a 45% win rate. Strength of schedule definitely favors Cleveland. Both teams played at Farragut and won. Cleveland won 43-21, Jeff won 31-14. Fairly even scores. This one is not a typical 1 vs 4 match up
Not a typical 1 vs 4 matchup at all. Jeff will be challenged.

I was told his knee got taken out last night unfortunately, and it was swollen up real bad.
A Central fan mentioned he was on crutches and his foot was in a boot, but nothing was broke..... so I assumed it was ankle related. I doubt if any more information will be available, which I understand.

You think Central can beat H20?
Yes I do, but I'm basing that on the assumption Central has Harbison healthy enough to play. He's a weapon.
Central has a good coaching staff and I believe they'll figure a way to shore up the defense to slow down Watertown's running game just enough for their offense to outscore Watertown. It's no secret that Central's defense against the run has been pretty abysmal the last several games, but since their loss to Meigs they've outscored their opponents enough to win them all - except for the total defensive collapse at Chatt Central. Central found a way to beat a pretty solid Kingston team, so the potential is there.
As a coach, you can only deal with the talent at hand, but you can change and scheme things to get the max out of that talent. I have no clue about Watertown's ability to successfully pass the ball, but my initial thinking as a coach I'd probably stack the box to stop the run and challenge them to beat me passing.- 1

I think Region 3 goes 3-1 against Region 4 in round 1 of the playoffs.... with Brainerd losing to Giles County.
2023 Class 3A State Football Playoffs Bracket (tssaasports.com) -
Class 3A playoff bracket is complete. As I mentioned earlier, Meigs will have home field advantage until the semifinals as long as they keep winning.
As a reminder to every team and their fans - you never, NEVER overlook any opponent in the playoffs.

No Masingale rest of the way. Harbison is day to day but is in a boot and on crutches. No break luckily. Check this out…. first 5 games Central gave up only 14 plays of 20 yards or more. The last five games…..FORTY!!!!! That’s right FORTY plays of 20 yards or more in the last 5 games. FORTY!!!!!
If you're allowed to say, is Masingale just hanging it up for football, or will he miss basketball too?
Glad nothing is broken with Bay and I hope he's back for the Watertown game.
Central's schedule has a lot to do with those numbers. The first 5 games were against anemic teams. The last 5 - other than TP and CC - were against some pretty good teams. However, with 4 of those last 5 games played at Central, I'm surprised. The Chargers' D has been struggling, no doubt, but I'm still amazed they gave up 62 points last night to a team like CC. -

Thank you.
You're welcome. As long as Meigs keeps winning they'll have home field advantage all the way to the semifinals.

You sure? I thought we would get the H20 and Central winner.
I'm clearly out of touch on the brackets and how it goes. Thanks for the info though.
No, the Central / Watertown winner will play the winner of the Brainerd / Giles Co. (assumed) winner in round 2.

Thoughts?
I'll go with McMinn Central in this matchup. I know their defense has struggled, but their offense will be too much for a Watertown team that's not as good as their former solid teams of the past.
Do any Central fans know the status of seniors Masingale and Harbison? Them playing would make a big difference in the makeup of Central's team in the playoffs.- 1

Played out like a playoff game.
If Meigs and Tyner both win their first round playoff game, they'll meet up again in Decatur in the second round.
Assuming Giles beats Sequatchie tonight, then the improved Rams could very well win their game at Sequatchie next Friday. -

M Centrals defense is not very good, I said that when we played them
Their defense has certainly struggled, but for them to play that bad against Chatt. Central is what's so shocking.

Tyner has a good looking football team, size and speed, they have definitely gotten better through out the season. They will be a handful next year.
If Tyner has a lot of young players I agree about next year! The 2nd place team of Region 4 will have their hands full in the playoffs.

Chatt. Central up 48-33 after 3 qtrs. Unbelievable!

No one in 3A will be able to beat Alcoa Tornadoes. They will not be able to score as many points as they are used to scoring. I am common sense and I approve this message.
Fixed it for you.

We love playing the best. Alcoa has a top notch program and everytime we play them it's always been a clean game. We all know the challenge is a tough one. But we're always excited to play them. It make us better.
That's the best attitude to have! Just tighten those chinstraps and face the task at hand without fear or intimidation.
This is just a regular season region game, so Kingston will continue playing afterward and will be a tough opponent for someone in round 1 of the playoffs.
Watertown @ MCminn central
in Class 3A & Class 4A

It's about 20 minutes away - depending on traffic. As mentioned above, you're playing at McMinn Central High School, not McMinn County High School - which ironically is right across the hwy. from the Gondolier.
