Who ever posted this has not watched much raider football this year. SteveO and Eric are the back bone of the team no doubt but either of them will tell you many times this year when either or both were getting keyed on somebody else stepped up and carried the day. A lot of kids play on this team and a lot carry the ball. Ask anyone that went to Haysi. Our Fullbacks have speed and power and our other tailbacks have the speed and vision to go to the end zone on any play. I have watched every freshman,JV, and Varsity game along with most practices this year. This is a blue collar team thet everyone works and contributes on. Our coaches are the same way every game fresh or jv, almost every varsity coach was on the sidelines. This is one team from the 7th grade to the 12th. The ball is rolling and getting bigger every year. We are going to be a thorn in many teams sides for a long time.If West Green wants a long game and short ride back to Greenville key on #7 & #1.

There would be atleast least 5 wrestling state titles on Greeneville's resume if we had been in the "correct" classification all along. I love playing up and being able to compete with schools much larger than us in football and basketball. It makes us much better, but I wish TSSAA would reconsider its stance on allowing individual sports to compete in different classifications independently. It may be a little bias considering it would have benefited my alma mater specifically, but could anyone really argue with this? Is there any harm? Where did we go wrong in finally joining the correct classification according to our enrollment? Is it fair for an athletic program fed by a school composed of 900 students to be going against the big boys who have enrollments of nearly 2,000 students and upward? Maybe I just have a chip on my shoulder, and we need to suck it up and go the extra distance and do whatever it takes to win no matter what classification we are in, no matter the cost. If it don't kill you it just makes you stronger...right? A state title captured against overwhelming odds would in fact make it that much sweeter wouldn't it? I'm fine with that, but try to understand our perspective on the current situation while also trying to ignore and excuse the arrogance of some of our fans. I promise you the entirety of the Greeneville community is not nearly as overly self-assured as we seem, or as some may make us out to be.

With all of that being said, it is obvious to anyone who can read between the lines what highschool athletics are being turned into. Tennessee is not nearly big enough to field six classes of competitive football.

Don't give me the "we only have 900 students" argument. How many of those students live in the county and should be going to a county school? How many of those play sports? How many of those county kids start on the football team? I know they only go to the city schools for the better education they just happen to be great athletes.

Greeneville1, I get on here and try to take funny jabs, mainly at South Greene because they are old rivals with WGHS, but you are by far the worst poster on these boards and you are a joke. Someone told me you were some kid from out at SG. Great year Buffs let's keep it going and take care of Sullivan North. It should be a good game.

Dang, butt whoopin's make you county boys kinda touchy....ok then we'll let you Buffs have your feel-good moment for beating up on poor little NG. That does give you and SG an excuse for keeping the perrennial cellar dwellars on the schedule though...at least you can claim the "County Championship".

Yep, you're right 8-2 this time next week for CHS. Shut down Fuson and it will be another easy win for the Devils next week. The Rebs did make a heck of a come back tonight but not stopping the run early in the game killed us again. Yet another heartbreaker for the Rebels. Some of the WORST officiating I have ever seen! Every time SG moved the ball they would find a flag on the field to take it back. On a more positive side I think Wilhoit broke the SG receiving record tonight, Haney had the hit of the night on TouchDown Friday Night and Susong set a new school passing record last week. Way to go #2, #11 & #13!!!! There may be a couple of more records in jepordy with a decent game next week by the Rebels. Good luck guys I hope you get to make a little more SG history before your season ends.

You know what I think is funny? I think it is funny how WG beat SG for the first time in forever, and they are acting like they have won state or something. SG never made this big a deal out of it when they beat WG, but im just a non-bias person giving mine opinion. Congrats WG, but its not like your gonna go anywhere or even win a game in playoffs so ya might wanna tame it down...

 

Then keep your non-biased opinion to yourself. We could actually care less what a Gville fan thinks. WG versus SG is a rivalry. It is a big deal to whomever wins it. Kind of like the way Gville acts when they beat Elizabethton every once in a while.

WG88 here are some facts for you to digest as you usually try to be a fair minded poster.

Since GHS and Betsy has played FB, Betsy leads the series with 39 (W) to GHS 29 (W) and 1 (T).

However since 1985 GHS leads the series with 14 (W) to Cowtowns 8 (W) which includes this year. Your facts were wrong, which made your statement very bogus and highly opinionated. You being fair minded would probably appreciate this research.

I just like getting the Gville fans going. They take things too personally. As far as SG I was surprised they even had the internet out there We know WGHS does not have the history of SG and GHS but it is so refreshing to see what Coach Case has been able to do there in a short period of time. It would be nice to see all of the teams from Greene County doing well. With the county teams playing Gville every year now it can only make the county teams better.

After last weeks heartbreaker, can the Rebels get fired up enough pull of this upset?

I sure hope they do. Their record really doesn't do them justice. C Gap is probably about even with SG. If WG had a tougher non-con schedule they wouldn't have the record they have, nothing impressive about them. Actually I think they were tougher last year. They don't have a rusher anywhere close to last year's Ward. Crockett and Cocke Co would have beat WG to death. They just caught SG on a bad night of play calling. Our D has struggled all season, that's no secret, only a couple of playmakers. Hope they get it together and get a win this week. We need the last two wins badly.

They looked impressive carrying the Can off of the field last Fri. night.

Last year21 what happen to that great offense and that good team you was talking about. What's good about it West Greene returns about everyone, so the milk can should stay with the BUFF for A couple of years.

 

Actually, if you would pay attention to what you say, SG did have more yards and more 1st downs, and there offense was pretty productive... I agree with 1standgoal, the better team did not win. Turnovers by SG won WG the game.... however, i will agree the can will prob be at WG for a while.

WG caused the turnovers that won the game. Who cares who had more yards or first downs. The scoreboard shows who was the better team and if you have forgotten it was WG underneath your scoreboard with the can taking pics. We can post the pic if you want us to just so that memory will last a long, long, time.

It was a good game by both teams,but don't cry about it man.SG had more yards,but its the scoreboard that counts!Just suck it up like we have the last 7 years and wait till next year!Good luck to you guys next week!

Dalton Boles a sophmore at West Greene High School has 128 carries for 1,188 yards and 11 TD's. He would have more if not for a pulled groin the last 2 games slowing him down a bit.

Boles is Overrated. West Greene has played a bunch of 1a knock over schools. When they actually played a good team who was Greeneville they held him to negative yards in the first half and their offense to 12 yards five of which where on a Greeneville penalty. That was Greeneville starters. It was 44-0 at half.

You are an idiot. 1188 yards is impressive no matter who you play against. Spradlin the leading rusher for Gville would not have 500 yds if he played at WG. Gville has only beaten teams in their conference and 3A teams at that so don't talk about winning against knock over schools.

Congratulations to the Buffs on your win tonight. I'm sorry to see the can go. It's a tough break for the Rebels, especially the seniors who left it all on the field tonight. I don't think the better team won, if you were at the game tonight you know why I'm sayng that. The Rebels had 361 yards of offense compared to WG 277. A pair of should have been field goals, not punting on 4th and 15 and some other bad play calling decisions cost the team the game. Just like the CGap game, not going for the 2 point conversion stopped SG from getting that win. Come on coach, use your head! I hate to play the blame game but it's hard to watch the guys work so hard and have it taken away from them. Wise up coach, if the girls in the stands can see your play calling mistakes why cant you? It's a shame for the talented SG players to not have the success they deserve. I'm proud of the Rebels, they did the best they could with what they were told to do.

sorry wg88 i have to dissagree with your 14-7 buff win in this one . sg has trouble stopping the run , no big secret. what they dont have trouble doing is scoring points. they scored 29 on greeneville who is a very good football team which i imagine you realize by now . and 20 against crockett who is a very much improved club this year . and they did that with 6 turnovers each game . in no way am i saying zero turnovers would have changed the outcome of either of these games , what i am saying is the only thing thats stopped sg offense this year is theirselves . they will move the ball up and down the feild fri nite im pretty sure, i know wg is an improving team and i like many other greene co fans are happy for you . its great all the hype and support from the community wg been gettin , but i think they kinda jumped the gun on just how good they really are . that showed last week . this could very well be a 7 point game but i think 50-45 is more realistic. if wg only manages 14 pts this one will be a blowout .

WG defense played well enough to win the Claiborne game whom I think Cumberland Gap will destroy. Sg and WG will be a hard hitting game and I think WG has too many horses on both sides of the ball. The Milk Can comes home where it belongs and will stay there for a very long time.

SG wins easily, the way they scored on Greeneville, I'd say they end up putting up 40+. The only way WG keeps it close is if the keep their offense on the field and SG's off. Both defenses are terrible, Shuffler and Boles could both have big nights. But....

Yeah, because he had a pretty good spring and was lookin pretty good. But like i said, hopefully he will be back and at least get to play out one or two games. Ok, so i've put this off and put this off, but I'm ready to make my prediction. I'm gonna say that CG plays their butts off, but that G'ville will probably be too much for them to handle. I am going to say that it will be closer than the experts think tho...at least i hope it is!

I think Greeneville will give up 2 or 3 TD's on big plays in the secondary but if CG is going to have a chance they're gonna have to have a monster defensive game. Greeneville has scored at will in its first 2 conference games and held the ground attack of both in-county rivals to practically nothing. I doubt if CG has seen a defense as big and quick as Greeneville so Shipley had better be good at snap decisions or he could end up like Susong....eating turf and coughing footballs.

This thread reads like a love fest. All the players and fans from both sides could get together in the middle of the field before the game and sing "We are the World"

Shipley. His system suits him better and allows him to do a lot more. Plus he plays mlb and is a force on defense as well. This kid never rests. Susong is a heckuva player, dont get me wrong. But he gets breaks and only really has to focus on one side. Shipley plays both ways and rarely leves the field, so i would give the nod to him.

 

If you want to win this game rush shipley with with your front four and get him blocked on d. Greeneville will win

Both teams have simialar offenses. Shipley has a cannon and is accurate. Dropped passes killed them against WG. CG has a nice field and nice facilities. Not sure about CG defense against Gville but I believe CG can put some points up on Gville. Gville shut down a one dimensional WG. Fans at CG are very classy. I talked to one for a while and he said there biggest problem right now was getting the kids to come out for football. Shipley is the real deal and doesnt seem to be bothered by pressure. Should be a good game. Good luck to both and stay safe.

I haven't been able to get on here in a few days but I will man up and say Gville put it to WG. Our offense could not move the ball. No excuses we just got outplayed. the 4th and 16 conversion for a TD put the dagger in. The crowd was unbelievable and both sides showed a lot of class. Still proud of our boys they have a winning record still. You can say it was against lower talent but remember those teams we are beating now used to beat us on a regular basis. You have to walk before you can crawl. SG fans need not worry about WG, SG has enough to worry about on theirselves. I believe CG will give Gville a pretty good game.

I just really feel it's unfortunate that some fans continue to make this about the facilities. As a graduate of West Greene, but the fiance of a previous assistant boy's basketball coach, I love boys on both sides of the field tonight. They have the best intentions of coming out to play football to represent their teams. However, parents continue to down the facilities present at West Greene. If you remember Greeneville Sun updates from the following year, we needed a school. We are crowded without other fans coming. The school is crowded and the field will be crowded. However, with the economic situation we were denied a school. The Booster Club themselves raised the money for the new fieldhouse. Regardless, I feel very blessed to have been able to "make-do" with what I was given in my time at West Greene. I also feel very fortunate to have worked with some great people at Greeneville High School in the past. In my experiences, (some) parents have always caused more problems than the students themselves. I wish both teams the best, that tonight will be a safe game and more importantly that some fans and parents will grow up and be the better person. Go Buffs!

I heard the beloved Mr Bible said he's going to have extra county officers there to make sure this doesn't happen. I do believe we will leave Greeneville with a win after 4 quarters of hard fought football. Our boys are confident and talented and know that they have the upper hand in the offensive scheme of the game. It is up to the other teams to stop us. We must continue to play good D and not let up......for a second. Everything seems to have worked to perfection and I think the key to winning this game is to not get down if we have some difficulty or things don't go our way at first. yes i too believe it will be a hard fought football game for all 4 quarters and yes you all do have a good team this year and yes you all MAY have the upper hand in the offensive scheme, BUT...you all haven't been in a battle yet, ya'll haven't been tested yet, ya'll haven't had a shootout game with any team so far...we have, we've been in that situation twice already with 2 of the top ranked teams and had chances to win both...we have the upper hand there...plus we are at home, the Greene Devils do not lose at home, that is just unacceptable to the boys on the team.

Anybody know if NG's quarterback Daniel Wedding is playing I have heard different stories some saying he is playing other saying he isnt?

i don't know much about NG but they do have a good player in Jeff O'Neal. If there regular QB doesn't play it will probably be him not sure though. With it being a county game NG will be up for it so the Buffs better be ready.

It is high school football and none of these kids could care less what is wrote on here. I know all three boys and they are good athletes and good kids as well I just found this site recently and like seeing the reactions from people when you post something a little off the wall. Gville does have a good team and they have played better competition and i am glad they are in the same conference as the county teams as it will only make the county teams better. I believe Case will schedule better games as well. TN High will be tough WG needs to worry about NG.
