  1. Tim you are correct, Giles is not going to be a 70 point a game team and yes they are top 3 in the district. As far as the kick, when else do you work on this, practice, when the other side is waiting on it or in a tight ball game when you really need it? You work on it when you can. As far as passing, we tried running the ball and broke 2 or 3 long runs for tds, so what do you do. And yes Giles will be trying to make a statement all year as will every team that has plans on the post season. I even understand why Columbia called 2 time outs with under 30 seconds left, game was over right. But they had a chance for a meaning less score and they had a play to work on. Cats d will have to improve and that's what they will do.
  2. What happened to discussing the last game before moving on to next game. Its like everyone is trying to hurry up and get to week 5. Look past no one. So far GC reminds me of teams from the past. Will like to see a closer game this week to see how focused we can stay. Up by 35 you tend to relax. Talent is there not sure how deep it goes yet. As far as Qb goes, after 1 game well satisfied. I see no reason that OC cant have this kid where he had 2 others before him. GO CATS!!!
  3. Welcome back rock. Gonna be a mudder tonight. So it looks like we will see how well the run block game is working. GO CATS!!!
  4. Boo I worry about everybody. And the law of averages would be on SH's side since I do not remember the last time GC lost to SH, but I know about blind squirrels and all that. I will definitely be an interesting year. I want to see what part of Alabama High School football OC will bring to the table. Come on Friday.
  5. lead you know we are here and after Friday I will be able to chime in on the current state of GCHS football. Without a kid playing this year my time is being spent elsewhere. GC will definitely be much improved this year but mainly because of the QB play. GC was one dimensional last year and everyone knew it. Will be very interesting when teacher plays student. All this #ringchasing #earnit #leaveamark stuff will be out the window. Oh yeah I am suppose to mention that Spring Hill will be the sleeper in the district this year. I see the old GC staff and the new old GC staff handling the district with a possible speed bump by Page. We will all know more after Friday. GO CATS!!! Hey lead stop in the TOTH market sometime. Someone there may know football.
  6. Really wardawg? Is coacht your official spot for info. You of all people know what this site is all about. As for some of your other comments about length of practice by Rankin and others, I am sure Rankin only put in 2 hrs. but I will guarantee the other coaches put in more plus their level of athletes is a little better than most. Both of my boys played for each staff and I have respect for both staffs in the way they coached and treated my kids, so I have no hard feelings at all. That's all of the pigeon feeding I am going to do on this matter. I am like you in a way, I'd rather speak face to face. So if you and the old coaching staff get together for a card game, just give me a shout. GO BOBCATS!!!
  7. Well my team gave it a shot, but come up short. Looks like Hightower may have made a nice contribution. I heard some one say, "Let's build a new stadium and he will come!". I am guessing this match up next season will be one made for tv. I am sure the Guru is happy to have his coat tails back. This is going to be fun. GO CATS!!!
  8. It is being reported that the Puncheon Branch chapter of the Make-a-wish Organization Chairman Richard Noggin, has been in contact with all four schools to arrange an Alumni Game. GC and MC would combine a team and SH and FH would field the other. Game to take place at Nissan Stadium with the winner taking home 70% of the funds raised. Billing this as a battle of the Haves and the Have Not. Richland will be supplying the aquatic engineers and a State Championship cheer squad for the Haves and Cornersville will help with the Have Not. As usual Richland nor Cornersville will be compensated for their effort. This will be one of the largest fundraisers for all schools involved. Ok folks have at it.
  9. You guys do realize wickedtuna hooked you guys in on a thread started last year before the season started. But hey I am bored tonight I will nibble. As I stated on the other thread stuff not related to gc coach, the Wallace bidding has already begun. It pains the mc folks to think about the young one leaving and I cant blame them. He will have success at either place. Will love to watch him at Giles but can understand if he stays. Hard to leave a coach who the last 3 qbs he coached in TN were all Mr. Football Finalist with Bo being the only winner. Couple of months will tell the tale. Good Luck to all participants. GO CATS!!!
  10. Let the bidding war begin. Which school will do the most to land the other Wallace kid? I know he wants to coach little brother so which school will make the most effort? Good luck to the highest bidder, hope its my team. GO CATS!!!
  11. WOW! So OC comes back, brings in Bo as qb coach, then lil man Wallace comes to GC to be with big brother. Will he have to sit out a year or does brother coaching work like father coaching. I remember Vic Wharton going all over the state to play for his dad. So now I have to figure out where Bedingfield is going to go, mc or GC. Well time to go watch football and ring in the New Year. Everyone be safe. Talk to you guys next year. GO CATS!!!
  12. I am familiar with open zoned and private schools, but what advantage does a Magnet school have over a true public school? Since Pearl is a Magnet school. Just curious.
  13. Par 3 right behind home stands, think its about 100 yards up hill, may need to choke up on that 7 a little bit. Guru will have his hands full tonight.
  14. Wait til you get there and realize you are sitting in center field of the baseball field. If only you had brought your golf clubs you could jump the fence and play nine holes. But hey the jumbo tron is nice, hope the lights stay on for everyone.
  15. The Guru and The Rebel would be a very good combo.
  16. The Hickman brothers can join up in Richland, but their days at GC are over.
  17. You are correct, Osteen has done and will keep on doing a fine job. But sit back and watch the extra help pile into your press box. There will be no back seat drivers they will be riding shot gun next to good ole Ronnie.
  18. With Buckhorn losing to Hoover Friday, leaves Big Joe and others with some free time on their hands. They live for football and will help their disciple (osteen) succeed when they can. They were at the Brickyard earlier this year for our game.
  19. mc will be well prepared. Now that their other coaches will be available for their run at state. The guru has his defense fine tuned.
  20. Panther you were spot on with all you said this week, but you left out Forte's Restaurant on Fourth Street. Had a very nice meal there. Only good thing I got out of the trip. Did enjoy the game for about a quarter then the wheel fell back off and was unable to get it back on. Better plant some more rye grass if you guys plan on hosting that 3rd round game. I know you guys wont look past eh, but I would like to see you guys and Marshall tie up. Should be a good game if both of you make it. Good luck to all, now I guess we prepare for soccer. Heads up CATS!!
  21. Just a quick glimpse at both teams schedules and if you add all records up you will see our opponents records are very similar. We both played teams with good and bad records. Like most of us here know the season starts now. Everything else is window dressing. Time to strap it up and get in on. GO CATS!!!
  22. With all the rain coming in this will be a mudder of a game. Special teams and turnovers will be the key as always. How many folks does your visitors side hold? Probably have about 50 just in the band if they make the trip. GO CATS!!
  23. It has been a roller coaster year to say the least for my Bobcats. The Cats seem to have problems with teams that are able to throw the ball. If SM is mostly a run team our chances increase imo. We are very fortunate to be playing in November now lets clean up all the mental mistakes we had Friday and finish strong. Wrong time of year to still be jumping off sides. Keep your head in the game and lay it all on the line. GO CATS!!
