A lot of good efforts out there tonight, but I just can't say enough about Cade Kennemore. Absolutely one of, if not, the most dangerous man in the valley. And I have to give a lot of credit to CB's Soseby #44. That kid never gave up.

Actual gate ticket sales was around 3600 last week. Throw in season tickets, players, bands, cheerleaders, etc., and we had around 4000. We'll be lucky to have 1000 tonight.

I just hope and pray that Gwyn man doesn't go ahead and pull his protest stunt tonight. I hope none of the boys individually try to protest. It could get ugly in the little Southern town of Jasper. I don't say this because of black and white, I say this because of patriotic and treasonous. MC should win with no trouble, but if Brainerd (or even a small faction of Brainerd) decides to show their ignorance I hope MC runs out of numbers on their side of the scoreboard.

I opted for eating at the Catfish House last night rather than going to the MC game. But cousin Dave Daffron kept me informed. WOW! I can only hope Meigs has close to nothing. Maybe we can stay in the game long enough to at least give MC some opposition.

At the last minute i chose Riverside Catfish House over going to the game. Just got home and tuned in. I made the right decision.

I always pull for valley boys over out-of-towners. It'll be tough, though, because these particular out-of-towners wear orange and black. Nevertheless...MC by three TD's. Unless Meigs was inspired by Appy State.

They do have a pretty good marching band.

Just talked to Bebe's husband. She's at home eating breakfast.

South Pittsburg Academy beat Grundy last night 38-14. I think that makes them 3-0. UT got an ugly ugly win last night making them 1-0. Jasper hosts Meigs tonight. Whitwell hosts Davidson Academy. The Richard Valley Yellowhawks will be at Grace Baptist.

Hey, how about that connection going on between Holland and Kennemore. I really like that. And that Raulson kid is as strong as a bull. That Jasper line will have its hands full with him and Kelley. And I have to admit that Zeman kid is just as talented as his brothers. And I hope Kirkendoll is ready to play next Friday. I'm really looking forward to seeing ya'll and Meigs get it on. But not as much as I'm looking forward to seeing the Pirates and the Warriors lock horns. It'll be a great game.

Let me try to word this so that I won't be crucified....but I probably will. One of the MC coaches contacted me about some of the things being said about past activities. He's hopping mad, and I don't blame him. Likewise, things are being said about SP coaches and players that won't sit well with them. The accusations flying back and forth about this and that and about a kid's rap sheet is unbecoming of adult men. Come on guys let's clean it up. The past is the past. Next Friday night 22 boys will line up against each other - it won't be us old farts on the field. Let these boys play ball and leave it at that. Let's go back to square one and talk about football. I don't have a problem with trash talk, but let's leave the other stuff alone.

I hate to agree with Bass (I just threw up a little in my mouth), but he's right. I can't answer any of his questions right now, but I hope to get a little more informed when I watch them against Meigs. The closest I could come to answering is the one about advantages and disadvantages. SP definitely has the Vic advantage. A head coach with that much experience and that much success is bound to be an advantage over MC's first-year head coach. But I'm not naïve - it may not win us the game. But it'll help.

What are some good games for us SP people to go to Friday night?

A little off course, but did anyone notice Sale Creek won their opener 47-6?

We're really starting to see the benefits of the little league. Most of these guys are benefactors of when the little league started kicking in. We're seeing better fundamentals, and just all around better football.

Two weeks to prepare for a big game always makes me nervous. Too many times a team can over-prepare when it has two weeks. MC used a lot of weapons last night against Grundy. MC has had two big wins over mediocre teams. We lost a game we should have won, but had a big win of our own over Bledsoe. MC now has to face a good Meigs team, and we get a week off. We have home field advantage. Who knows.....
