  1. Interesting that Master MJUHB has St. Agnes (not Agnus) at #1 overall.

Not that they are not worthy, they certainly are. It's just interesting to see them above Houston, Collierville, Brentwood, CAK, and Bearden.

Don't know about Brentwood, CAK and Bearden, but they should be ranked over Houston and Collierville. They are the best in the West, as least for now.

  2. I was there and they played 4-5-1, not 9-1.. and they couldn't have had 21 players in the box because they don't have that many players on the team!!

I think it would be great to combine Germantown's defense with Houston's offense. What a great team that would be!! We could call it.. oh, I don't know.. Saint Agnes?? lol

  3. Well, Canes, you called that one right! Are you sure you weren't the center ref? :roflol:

Actually, if you didn't see it, it was a better game than the score reflects. I would pretty much agree with SmallTeamBigHeart's analysis. PK on an unfortunate call and also a goal that appeared to be a "save" on the ground, but then was called a goal. I guess the ref thought it broke the plane? But even without those two, clearly a strong Houston victory. They've just got so much depth! I was also impressed to see how hard they work to be first to the ball and then to play the ball quickly.

Second goal was a really super shot and that last one was sweet!

    Congratulations, Houston!

  4. I think your scenario is very plausible if Germantown's midfield doesn't step up and slow down the attack. They can't just focus on trying to shut down Olivia Harrison, because senior, Tish Blankenship, is an effective playmaker as well, and when she is on her game she is hard to stop.

  5. It's not for me to enjoy it or not. You said in your previous post in reference to Germantown's being a defensive team:

The goal of any soccer game is to score one more goal than your opponent....it's a fine balance.

I was merely pointing out that they had indeed done exactly that against Collierville (scored one more than there opponent).

But my main observation was it would be interesting to see a strong defensive team against a strong offensive team. No "offense" meant to anyone at all. I agree with you that Germantown seems to have trouble finishing. Then again there are teams that are all about the offense at the expense of the defense. (You know who you are)

  6. Ponyclub's question? Sorry you lost me there...

You're right. Germantown's strength is its defense. If they score, it will not be a lot. But they did manage to outscore Collierville. :thumb:

Houston scored a lot of goals vs. Collierville, but allowed almost as many. I'm just saying, it should be interesting to see a strong defensive team play a strong offensive team. Good luck to both.
