  1. I will say Im going to miss hearing Bon Jovi before the game like last year at Elizabethton. Sadly we cant treat you all to the same as we play some God awful rap music that 80% of the fan base cant stand listening to. It also sounds like some crap that was recorded in $5 booth at West Town Mall.

You have made some arguable posts , but this IS a widespread problem in high school athletics . (snicker , snicker , :roflolk: ) Oh my . :thumb:

  2. I think EHS will score at least 7. Either way I predict a blowout but I don't think it will be a shutout. We did score quick on Greeneville and that will be the only way to score anything is to make it quick and pray we are lucky. There is no such thing as 0 chance. If things were that certain than having playoffs wouldn't matter and Alcoa would get an automatic gold ball every year

Yeah, I did draw first blood but if you read any of the Elizabethton playoff threads you will see a number of Alcoa faithful running their mouths about a game that hasn't happened yet..UNPROVOKED. Looking at you F5SeekShelter. On top of that we all know the outcome so them beating it into our heads in every thread will piss anyone off.

Hear , hear , EHS . Right on the nose there. :thumb:

  3. Well, hopefully most of the bickering has stopped, both of these teams deserve much more respect than this board has allowed them. I've been around Polk Co. football for years, even when Polk had bad years, you knew you had played them. They have, and always will be physical, and I can promise you none of them were intentionally trying to hurt anyone. Hat's off to this group of seniors, they have been something special - really hate to see them go.

As for CAK, I can't say enough good things about their program, #2 is an great QB, but I will say this, the O-line, and #16 #25 and #27 made him awesome last night - he had all day to throw and the receivers caught everything thrown to them. Everyone one of them went out with an injury, and everyone of them came back in, so I can't question their toughness. The defense was impressive, we had success running on the left side in the first half, they made the adjustments and stopped it in the second half.

As for the game, I saw two really good teams trading blows back and forth all night, neither team quit, and when it came down to the end it was all about one play - 4th and 1 - Polk stops 'em they win, CAK scores they win, don't think you can ask for a better ending. We just came up about 2 ft short.

As far as Alcoa - I don't think too many of us Polk fans think that we can line up and beat Alcoa, but much like the CAK game (yes, we wanted to play CAK), our competitive spirit wants to give it a shot. It's not going to happen this year, but I think Polk gave it a heck of a shot.

    Nice

  4. I can assure you that Polk players did not set out to hurt any of your players. My son is #38 and he is the one who hit number 16 that left the game with an apparent broken collar bone, I can tell you that he nor #12 never intentionally set out to hurt any players. They are both fierce competitors. I saw #12 as well as our son go over and try to console the Tyner players that were having a hard time after their loss to us. I have know Jared Allen and Tyler Lee for many years and feel honored to have them and their families in our lives. We have grown to admire all the Polk players in the 4 years since we moved to Polk County. do not get on here and bash a high school player. CAK has a very impressive team, and the Epperson's are friends of our also. We were so moved by Mr. Epperson seeking us out after the game to talk with us, as I did their son to congratulate him on his great performance. I can tell you that if a player got hurt we hope they heal quick so they can help your team advance next week. We have experienced HURT in our lives as has our son #38. We lost our son Matthew 20 years of age in July in a car accident. That is hurt my friend Thanks to all on the Polk County Team for their support during this football season, Michael has had to play without his biggest fan to support him. Did not mean to go on about our tragedy, but this is a football game. Lives will continue and hopefully we will see some of these gifted athletes play at the next level and can bring us all further enjoyment. I know we will be cheering for Jared, Ty, QUinn and our son as they play in college. We hope many others get to play at the next level also. We hope #16 is not seriously hurt. Good Luck next week CAK.

Thanks for bringing it down to earth,Don.I thought leaving it alone would stop some of the nonsense. Bunch of out a school , non playing, jabber mouthing. With a rare spot of sense - decency. To imply that Jared , or ANYONE on Polk's team would intentionally hurt someone is beyond comprehension . The guy is ,and was raised , if you would take the time to see , ,? I dunno. He and his family are just not to be impinged.Period. The crap on here is so unbelievably stupid and hateful. Thanks for a great run seniors and the up and comers.Love ever' one a ya s. And thank you Don . I regret I got on the stupid end of this thing. What was REAL MEANING was displayed by the emotion after the game. These boys have something we'll never have. # 51,,,,, :thumb: Luv ya Chewy. #16,,,,,get it back. We'll be in the stands Friday, wearing our colors.

  5. Don't drink hot chocolate but you can buy me some of that nanner pudding CAK sells.

CAK fans how big are your visitor bleachers and do you have to pay to park? I've been asked that twice today and you know how much us Polk fans hate to pay for parking, so I figured I'd ask.

Not like yer in downtown.I'll park on the grass.Your's , yer neighbor's , the police dept.'s . Come ON man. Matter a fact,I'll park right OUTSIDE where they're charging,,sheesh.Probably mark up the tix two bucks too, like private MEANS something ,dang. :roflol: (won't be able to buy alumni's hot cocoa,,sigh,,,,,popcorn first tho,,,)

  6. Look, here's the deal. I enjoy my friends from Alcoa and look forward to talking with them at football games. ALL need to realize something....THEY ARE CASTING THE BAIT AND YOU ARE TAKING IT!!

Dang. Some people take ALL the fun away. I'm hooked,,, ,,,,,( <bottom feeder anyhows ) A !!!!! LITTLE MORE CHUM ,,,, ,,HERE ,,, ,,,,,PA ,,,-,LEASE ! Serious is for work . :roflol:

  7. You are without a doubt an idiot. Being confident is one thing being cocky is just stupid. We have nothing to be cocky about and Derick Davis would be the first to tell you that. I want the team to win as much as anybody, but at least I'm realistic enough to know that this is THE toughest team that our team has faced. I wish the men from both teams good luck, good sportsmanship, and no injuries.

As for 1979, my point was Polk County has not been out of the 2nd round since. In fact last year was the first time to the 2nd round since my senior year. So just what makes you think we have every reason to be cocky?

    Go Polk

? we ? Who the heck are -we -? Surely not the teams that are playing this year.Toughest team ? Thought that was LAST week. Come on dude, lighten up,'s all in fun. ( Thanks fer the idiot comment tho,,,I try.) To think our boys are cocky is WAYYYYYY outta reality. geez,,,,,,, I < , also wish no one gits hurt (who WOULD ? ,,,DANG! ) totally outta the realm , and hammer down .

  8. Still doesn't make much sense, but I will take your word for content. I doubt my son could make heads or tails out of " I doubt team Alcoa is as wondering of Polk as FANS Alcoa is". I really don't wonder much about Polk at all, we won't be seeing them because they won't make it past CAK. :thumb:

There ya go,thanks fer checking back. (btw ,it was TEAM Alcoa, sigh ) jus' tryin' to hep. :roflol:

  9. Well its been awhile since I posted so here goes everyone knows that I love meigs football yes were not good but we try question is after reading this thread there are some real dumb remarks Polk county has had a great year but fans look who they played south Pitt. You will say there 1a you should beat them you play in the weakest district in east TN I know been watching it for years even when Mcminn central was good they never got out of the first round no disrespect just fact all I heard last year after you all stomped us was how well you matched with Alcoa come on they are the cream of the crop and let me also say if cak was not paired with Alcoa in the district these would be the teams playing for the championship. Polk is a good team with good players but guys your not playing meigs or sweetwater this week. Good luck to you all pulling for a district team but fans You all need to show cak the respect they deserve

Thanks fer yer input ,N ( national) B (bullcrap) C (cryer) . Are you freaking KIDDING ME ! CAK is a great team no doubt. To hang with the Alcoa bunch is - 'nuff said. Go Polk. All I got to say. (Or did I say too much ) . (awhile ain't long ENOUGH ! )

  10. I'm sure FBD will answer when he get's a chance, but in the mean time you can take a look at some of the highlight video from earlier in this thread and get a fairly good idea of our passing offense.

A little more info: CAK is probably 70/30 pass/run, but it's really closer to 80/20 if you leave out finishing out games towards the end where the coaches are trying to run the clock. The Warriors do throw some underneath routes, but throw a lot of medium and deep balls as well. CAK has 1 outstanding SR and 3 outstanding sophomore receivers that get most of the action, but have some other good receivers who see PT as well. The CAK receivers have speed and run precise routes which allows them to get open. But what really stands out to me is their ability to CATCH the ball. If it's close, they catch it. There were a few (not many) uncharacteristic drops in the Alcoa game that I attributed to a few nerves in their first match up with Alcoa. The medium and deep patterns, of course, rely on Epperly having time to let the play develop. Over the last 2 seasons, the Warrior OL has been able to consistently give him time. Alcoa got the most pressure on Epperly this year with their outstanding athletes, particularly #1 Warren and #5. Having said that, CAK had around 300 yards passing and 2 recievers over 100 yards each.

As far as a running attack, it is obviously in the shadows of the passing game, but is capable when called upon. The primary back is quick through the hole and keeps driving after contact. He is approximately 160 lbs. The QB (6-2 200) is one of the fastest players on the team, and is very capable of breaking off big runs.

    The - FIRST - -? -matchup ? K. Thought you guys were regular season,hmmm . K.

  12. Football Dad do you guys run like a throw it deep every play or a more traditional west coast type spread using more underneath crossing patterns, dump passes, and screens?

Polk fans we need to remember that we haven't been out of the 2nd round since 1979 and that ended at Goddard Field, in wonderful, majestic, and glorious Alcoa. We have nothing to be cocky about. I hope this is an injury free game with great sportsmanship.

    Go Polk

Heh heh heh. Would you git off that high ( horse) goat yer ridin' and 'splain sumpin' ? Who in the heck CARES about 1979 -b. c. OR a.d. ? Yes ,Goddard field and thier high price box burgers was something to behold. Their puffed up shove it in yer face NFL balloon was cool too. What has that got to do with football tho ? I < think we have EVERYTHING to be cocky about ! You think CAK s joking, but their knot ( s , in their stomach )

  13. Since this is a Cak vs Polk thread, and I am a Alcoa fan I did not think I should post here, but since afew posters bring up the fact that alcoa would rather play cak than polk I had to jump in and say that I believe most Alcoa fans would rather play polk not because Alcoa is scared of CAK.Why would we be?We match up better with polk cause we are built to stop the run.I also like for everyone to get a taste of what they have been missing.I do not know any of the cak people so I cant say I hope they win cause I really dont care. This goes for the state championship too.I dont want to play either goodpasture or milan.I want to play a different team. They have had their chance. Its alot more enjoyable to see what other teams have to offer,so to all the polk people do your best to win this game.I personally don't think you have a snowball's chance!

    Reading thru this ,# 1 is -? huh? #2 - And then No,not scared. #3 - Then,we ain't missing anything,'cept competition,granted to ya,o.k. . #4 -Ya HAVE to care,else you'd a kept yer yap shut , #5 -Yeh,different team - 's what we're ALL about ,( ? the hail ,? why WOULDN'T YA ? ). # 5 - The -Polk - people - ,are not what will decide it. The Polk TEAM will. And of course thats where my loyalty resides. Go POLK !

  14. Love reading the posts when we're playing a team we've never faced before. Trying to get a feel for the game and the passion of the fans. This really adds to the enjoyment of high school football for me.

By all accounts Polk plays an old school, rough and tumble style of football. Many many games have been won with that style. CAK plays a new school, no huddle, spread the field and fill the air with footballs style of football. Many many games are now being won with this style as well. Both styles are still relivant in high school football today, which style is most effective usually depends on the type of players you have and the background of the coaches. Most of CAK's coaches have SEC college football backgrounds and are comfortable with the style CAK employees and they have the athletes to run it. However; don't be fooled into believing the Warriors are all finess with no toughness. Thats where our district and playing against Alcoa, Loudon, Kingston and out of conference against Elizabethton and jamborees against Powell & West has strengthened our program. I don't pretend that our CAK boys are huge, street hardened or farm toughened kids (which I played with or have coached). But they are as dedicated and hard working as any group I've been associated with, they understand the game and they are HONESTLY afraid of no one. Maybe that naive, but true. I'm sure the Wildcats will get some good hits on our boys, but I'm just as confident that you will see those boys jump up and lineup and want some more. Polk may be as physcial as Alcoa, I can't say because I've never attended a Polk game. But IF they are, I'll be the first to get on here and say that...BUT, until then, I stick by my belief that CAK has been battle toughened over the past 5 years by the Tornadoes and we're ready to see what Polk's got. Should be a great game!

Dad,I am wit ya. What will be will be. I , as little as I know, would not doubt CAK's game. Just know the same things about our boys. Hammer down, stats be danged.

  15. Just hard for me to pull against our region. Kinda like me pulling for Maryville every year after our game with them. :thumb: Polk aint got nothing for CAK! I tend to bet to win!!! :roflol:

Well,,what region am I < in,,,,,lol. Dang. (DMac rolling up the pants legs < ,,,,,,,)

  16. To be honest and up-front with the CAK coaches, players, and fans, this game Friday will be the toughest challenge Polk has faced in two seasons IMO. This game worries the heck out of me because I don't know what to expect from CAK (no team can be ever totally nailed down on any given Friday - too many variables), I believe we have a more than reasonable chance to win this Friday - there is something different this year about our boys and I can't pin that intangible down either.

CAK has a decided advantage over Polk County by playing Alcoa every season no matter what the outcome win or lose by having that yardstick to gauge progress or decline in your program. Teams such as Polk do not have the level of competition that CAK enjoys(? that could be seen two ways depending on who is looking and when lol) during the regular season, so what does that leave? Just theories, conjecture, and old farts complaining on CoachT.

What you see here isn't intended to disrespect CAK (yes, ya'll are scary, no bs), these are shots at Alcoa since they never leave a thread un-peed-on... Worse than two male dogs out in the yard marking territory lol. I/we out here in rural BFEast Tennessee are for Fill_In_Blank_Here vs. Alcoa - if this year it's CAK, so be it and more power to you, but I'd rather see us so I hope ya'll understand.

I want a good clean injury-free game this Friday and may the best team win!

    Go Cats!

    :thumb:

I second yer notion 100% ,Yee. I am NOT old , by the way, (ROCKS are old) . I guess the fart part we can debate. We're kinda in the same boat. We need to step up our games. We picked up Signal and Central, tho Central is kinda down this year. Alcoa tho,why would you step up if you can keep getting the trophy. And Yee, you remind me of that great philosopher Ol' Gus,,,from Lonesome Dove fame.

  17. I think I'm starting to get the picture. You're saying CAK is Alcoa's whipping boy and that if Alcoa wants a real challenge they should hope to get a match up with a really good football team like Polk. Got it.

    Heh heh heh. Wow. 'knox,I guess thats ONE way a puttin' it. Who IS the competition for Alcoa? Not to beat the same drum,but cripes,,,,anybody ? C O M P E T I T I O N -? - . Anybody ?

  18. Can you please translate this to English?

Sure,no prob. (mebbe yer son can help ya with this, sigh )

    Ahem !

Kinda weird you would want to do that again so soon , let alone LATER. Just occured to me reading this blather - again - , Alcoa STILL ain't beat POLK ! I doubt TEAM Alcoa is as wondering of Polk as FANS Alcoa is . That better ? I even checked it with - spail chak .

  19. <CrazyMountainFolkWisdom> Alcoa wants CAK to win because Alcoa is skeered of the unknown. Alcoa would rather have their whipping boys CAK to walk through for an easy championship - go figure.... </CrazyMountainFolkWisdom>

    Great-great-granpapaw may be right.

He's been right before - makes you wonder, doesn't it?

    :thumb:

(waiting for APB to show up with his 'shopped pics... might have to look in on that - he ain't the only one with Photoshop lol...)

    :roflol:

    heh heh heh ,,,,,,,
