It is unfortunate that these two great teams have to meet in the semifinals instead of the state championship but that is just how it happened. These two teams are easily the best two teams in Division II-A. Webb has to make the long journey across the state and play at ECS's home field. This game is shaping up to be very similar to the game in 2009, when ECS was undefeated and Webb traveled across the state and upset them and went onto win the state championship 30-0 over USJ. The 2009 ECS/Webb game was a very good game and I hope to see another great game on Friday. How is ECS feeling about this game? And what do people, who are familiar with both teams, think the outcome will be in this game?

I don't know much about USJ besides the fact that they only beat Davidson by 8 points. Is this game against Webb going to be a blowout? What do they have??

Webb was also without Brant Mitchell against Baylor. Without him Webb was weaker in the middle. Baylor noticed that and ran isos the entire second half. If Brant is playing, that is a different game. Guarantee you Catholic does not wear Webb down tonight. This is Catholics first time seeing Brant Mitchell play. You will know which one he is right when you walk up to the field. Absolute animal.

Webb will not be gassed in the second half. That has never been a factor in this game. It is just too big of a game to even think about that. Catholic had to play overtime to beat CAK. Webb beat CAK by 42. Unless Webb has some costly turnovers, the Spartans will roll over Catholic.

I am hearing that the Irish QB is not playing and that they are using their running back Lacey (who used to play some QB). Any Leprechauns out there that can confirm this??

Webb is looking to make it 5 in a row. The game is usually close no matter how good the teams are. Catholic is coming into this game with one loss to Anderson County, while Webb is coming into the game with two losses to Maryville and Baylor. How do people see this rivalry game playing out??

BGA looked to have some solid lineman and some good athletes. But I heard a lot about #3 for BGA. The slot receiver/running back. And he didn't impress me one bit. He was asking out of the game every other play it seemed like. He showed flashes but the coaches have to find a way to get him going in big games like that. We will see BGA again in the playoffs probably. And like WebbSpartans said. This game will turn into a year in year out rivalry game.

He broke his finger pretty badly and had surgery on Thursday before the Baylor game. He wanted to club it up and play but they said one day out of surgery was just too soon. He should be back for the game against CAK. He is one of the most impressive players to ever go through Webb. Was at Clemson on Saturday for the Georgia/Clemson game. SEC player for sure.

Webb has half the enrollment of the big D II schools. So congratulations for your win. You cant compare Webb to the big D II schools so just stop. We understand we cant compete week in and week out against those large schools. It showed on Friday night. Baylor had 3 times the amount of players at Webb. The fact that Webb started off the year playing the top 6a school and a top 5 D II large division school proves that they are willing to play anyone. If you think this is the end of Webb football because they lost to Maryville (who beat Alcoa a lot worse than they beat Webb), and Baylor, then you are ignorant. Webb has a bye week and will get healthy and their legs back under them going into the CAK game. Webb has owned CAK in football and Webb will get their season back on track.

The Baylor coach had to leave the field because of two penalties on his coaching staff. Once he left the field, he got a headset and went up to the press box and tried to keep coaching from up there which is illegal. He got caught and was escorted out of the stadium. Very hard fought game though. Baylor was more physical than Maryville according to multiple Webb players. You guys just wore us out in the 3rd quarter and kept pounding the rock. Webb had a tough loss to Maryville last night. Was just out-manned and had too many missed opportunities. How did Baylor look last night??

Our coaching, resources, support, and socioeconomic conditions are just fine. Don't worry about that bud.

Just the fact that we have much less players. It takes a toll playing the entire game and not being able to go over and sit down with your position coach and sip gatorade. That is what I am talking about. See ya at the game boys.

Webb 35 Maryville 28 David vs Goliath 40 players vs 90 players Maryville players playing one way Webb players playing both ways No way on paper someone could look at this game and say Webb is going to win. But Webb plays a different type of football. A lot of people think of Webb as soft, but that is completely wrong. If you are at this game you will see just how hard the Spartans fight. I am not saying Maryville doesn't play hard, but they don't have to overcome what the Webb players do. Webb overcomes all these obstacles and shocks the world.

I think this game will be the best game of the year. Webb's speed on the turf is going to be a sight to see. I just don't think the game will be as high scoring as some people are saying. It is still the first game of the year and defenses tend to have the upper hand at the beginning of the year. With that being said, the Webb offense has multiple weapons and it is going to be fun to watch the chess match of Meske and Quarles. These two coaching staffs are two of the top staffs in the state. Has Quarles decided on a QB yet? Or will they alternate in this first game? Are they both similar type QB's or is one more of a runner and one a passer?

Even though it was against Gibbs, Webb looked very impressive in the jamboree. Starting with a three and out on defense and then scoring on the second play. The defense has more speed then I have ever seen on a high school defense. And to answer your question about the kid from Maryville at Webb, he is the 5th DB right now trying to get a starting spot at corner, and is probably the 5th running back in our backfield on offense.

The scrimmage against Sequoyah was not 3-2. It was 4-1 and the one score they had was against our JV.

It was Rockwood. He played in the Semifinals and then was the Defensive MVP in the State Championship. Kid is an animal.

Yeah this game is being played on a Friday night at Maryville. The kickoff series they have had the past two years with Webb, Maryville, Alcoa, and Cleveland is not happening this year. They couldn't find a fourth team to fit in with Webb, Maryville, and Alcoa. But the QB position is up for grabs. Meske could go with Senior Johnny Chun who came in last year against Alcoa when Jack Grayson cramped up, or he could go with Junior Brock Beeler who started at receiver and CB last year but has played QB in the past. Just depends on what Meske wants his wing t offense to look like. We should know after the first couple of weeks of summer practice because if Beeler is not under center, he will most likely be in the backfield somewhere with Brandt Mitchell and TK. Gonna be interesting to see how Meske places his skill position players in the Wing T offense because he has a couple different ways he could go.

It is going to be a very exciting atmosphere with two well coached teams. I think it will come down to depth which is what many people have pointed out. If the Webb players can play the whole game without cramping, they will have a chance in the 4th.
