Ok White House Fans, you can verify this one with Coach Porter. Despite the confusion so many have posted about at the end of the game, the issue was NOT what down it was or whether the clock had one second left. (I know two of the officials in this game and asked what hapened and why Porter was going off.) Coach Porter was upset about not getting a measurement on the pass play prior to spiking the ball. On T.V. one could easily tell it was virtually a yard short of first down because the play was right in front of the down markers. W.H. had to get to the 20 yd. line for a first and Porter thought the refs should have measured. That would have given W.H. a chance to get their kicking team on the field while the measurement was taking place. I have no dog in this hunt, but I believe the refs got this one correct. There was no need to measure because it was clear it was not a first down. Whether or not the spike was made with one second left was a tough one, but it looked like the clock expired when the refs started to kill the clock. White House had a lot of breaks go its way in this one...don't believe the refs cost W.H. the loss in this case.
