Miner has the defensive staff that was here at OR in 2021 at HVA now.  I think he will remain there and try to build that program up. I understand his freshman and JV teams were pretty good this season and he is working on things like facilities, fund raising and getting more kids out.  He took over a pretty down program over there, I think he is a great fit there. As far as he and OR go, I think he would be better off waiting until the next coaching change if he wanted to come back, which hopefully will be a couple of years down the road after a successful run for the next guy they hire.

Yes they have a ton of Oak Ridges 21 staff. So no thanks as of now but I would be open to him coming back down the road.He still has a lot to learn as a HC before I would be comfortable with hiring him here. Not crazy about his staff and dont wanna go back to that.I hope he does great at HV.

They should of promoted the defensive coach that went to HVA, he knew what OR wanted and stood for and was from there. At the time I said I would have went after a different coach than Cummings but now he is there or was there so I say stand by your man like him or not the choice has been made. The honeymoon didn't last long did it. If the OR administration didn't see the program had a boat load of injuries and the man got them to the third round of the playoffs then they simply don't give a rats arse about winning and more worried about keeping a bunch of whiney parents happy.  Folks we lived this nightmare back in 1988 at Maryville over stuff like this.

I agree with everything you have said but bringing Minor back.He was a good DC and Ive never met anybody around the Ridge that has a bad word to say about him.But we cannot go back down that road with that staff. At HV right now is almost the exact staff that was here minus Joe.We really need someone like Scott who is willing to invest in the youth and middle schools.Someone who is about year around weight lifting and knows how important it is.To me that was what had everyone happy with the hire and we need someone that knows how to do that.I think coaches like the Price twins are great coaches on the field but we have deeper needs than play calling.Scott had to takeover a complete mess and I dont think a lot of people would be happy to bring back that whole staff that left the mess minus Joe.I still wanna here some names of who was crying to admin. This secret stuff is not right and we need some answers.Joe needs to hit a home run because this isnt a great start with him as AD.

  4. I look forward to checking in on this game.My AC buddy has thought they could win in the past and was disappointed. But this yr he thinks there is no way they lose to Greenville. He says the message around the program has not only been to win this game but to physically whip Greenville.I have not seen the Mavs since week 1 but according to most they have huge advantage at QB and think Greenville QB is a liability. But even with a good QB AC plans to pound it down Greenville's throat all night.Ac also feels really good about shutting down the Greenville run game with some great LBs.I dont know if I buy the win big and whipping Greenville physically. But he does have me convinced Mavs win so I say AC 35 Greenville 20.I feel weird picking against the Devils but the confidence on the AC side is real.Good luck to both teams

I think we have a shot, if we can play cleaner on offense. I love the plan on defense.  I won't put it out here, but if it works we will be in the game.  If it doesn't, it will be a long night.  Go Cats

Coach Ayers and crew have really done a great job this yr.Do you think our offense can get anything going? Most people are picking us to lose big but I think we can hang in there if we hit some big plays

I agree that we are doing something right but until we beat a good team in the playoffs, I wouldn't get too carried away with that final 8 stuff. Rhea County was 2-8 and not good at all, and although McMinn was 8-2, they were an absolutely awful offensive team that we just beat by a point. If we beat Powell, who is good but nothing like last year, I'll feel better about this team. The fact is, that we haven't beaten a good team all year but I hope that changes tomorrow night.!  RWR!!!

You just love being negative.McMinn is not an awful offense. We just played great defense.Give this team and staff credit for taking us from one of worst years in our history to final 8 in one yr.People love talking about who is and isnt a good team but the fact is who is still standing and we are 1 of only 8.Lets all hope Oak Ridge wins so you are impressed.

Well Cat we were there, thought it was gonna end there again but it didn't and we will be over to POW Friday nite. Long as the Cats are playing we 'll be there! But man it's gonna be cold Friday night! Better wrap up! Kinda like when tackling in football, Ya Gotta Wrap Em Up! haha

Some of these whiners were the same ones saying we'd be lucky to go 5-5 earlier in the season and now where are we .. in the 3rd round of the playoffs. A bunch of teams will be sitting at home Friday night. We could sure have better fan support at the games but I'll take the ones that go and make noise over that other bunching  any day!

That is exactly right, I thought Jai scored too and watching on the You Tube after the game, it looked like 14 had it on the ground and they were trying to pull it away from it, then an OR player handed the ball to the ref as they got up. A couple of dink calls on McMinns last drive got them in position for the field goal attempt, Glad they blocked it. Good win for this team, which needed to win a game like this.

No doubt.I am proud of how hard they fought all night.I also thought we really struggled with the wet field and football. We kept throwing those short screens low and dropping passes.Few plays around outside with room for big play and we would just slip trying to cut.How bout that boom big stick by Hey on that last drive. That kid was not gonna let them go down without a fight. Also was proud of Garza moving around in pocket and hitting Rogers for a huge play late. Finally shout out to coach Cummings for some great play calls on 3rd and long that last drive. This team hurts itself a lot and has had a lot of bad luck but never quits and fights till da end.Go Wildcats

Anybody see the fumble OR had on the 1 yard line? Could’ve sworn OR recovered then lost it in a wrestling match. Really exciting ending for a non OR/McMinn fan.

Oak Ridge QB had it and the McMinn Co player tied it up like a jump ball in front of ref and somehow gave it to McMinn.Should of never happened because Jai scored play before with half his body in endzone and ref somehow spots him short.Plus 2 plays after fumble calls huge P.foul late hit on Rogers for holding the runner up from running into fence.Wasnt close. And then a huge facemask call that wasnt close to being a facemask.Refs tried their best to take McMinn down the field. And the huge drive by Oak Ridge to get to the 1 they had to overcome at least 3 holding calls. It was bad and after refs ripped off Oak Ridge last yr when they called back the game winning TD in final seconds on an awful call. That was bad but these refs dont need to not be back doing any playoff games

  10. We cant get behind the sticks on offense.CC will be ready to play and wont make it easy for us.We got to go take it from them.I have learned over the years to never take anybody for granted when you dont have a great offense. If CC can figure how to stop the Oak Ridge run or force a few turnovers they can easily win this game.I would really love to see the OaK Ridge offense that is clicking and not so out of sync trying to get a play off.Lets show up big and pack that place out.RWR

  11. Very proud of the fight our cats showed tonight.Nobody gave them much of a shot but they have great chance to win if not for the fumble on the punt after the safety.Man those refs need to go on somewhere.Another big ups to our defense for playing big.Great game for 7.Im really hate the offense went back to being confused again. They showed a lot of growth last week and took a step back this week.People see our record and assume we are not very good but forget the sch we play. This team can play wit anybody if not getting in their own way.

  12. Can the Wildcats continue to get better. We got most of our guys back that will be back and just need to build some chemistry. If Oak Ridge can run the ball they can play with anybody. That is a huge if this week and why I think DB wins comfortably. Our new QB has a few starts under his belt so hopefully he can continue to grow.I think Heyward is hitting his stride and with Rogers and Cummings back maybe we can hit a few big plays through the air.We have to hit some big plays to have a shot.I want to win or at least have a good showing but I wouldnt sell out to do it.Lets have one game with no major injury.Ill have my car gassed up and wildcat flags flying all the to Kingsport. All the Wildcat fans need to show up and let the team know we still behind them.

Willie, you don’t know. Was it poor conditioning, lack of stretching, too much hitting, poor drills or just too much bad luck. All teams have injuries, but when you have excessive injuries a good coaching staff evaluates and tries to straighten that ship. Sometimes it is totally out of a coaching staff’s control.

How do Oak Ridge fans think the Cats will approach The Devils? Most people get caught up the skilled and perimeter players. The Devils have those, but GHS is extremely talented, athletic and strong on both sides of the line.

Most of the injuries have been crazy stuff.2  different players with broke collerbones. One of those I still dont know how it happened as he was defending a pass in jamboree..One player with internal bleeding and then pulled hammy 1st half back last week. The starter from last yr was let go.The new starter left the LC game with concussion and then showed up with broke hand.2 players have missed a game because of ejection one of those was not justified.Starting tackle was returning from torn ACL last yr and had some problems right before season started. The other tackle was on show tonight and will miss game this week. One of the good RBs missed 2 or 3 games with ankle.Starting MLB tore ACL couple of weeks ago.And I could go on.So not your normal 1 or 2 injuries that happen in high school football. But on to your other question I heard our coach talking about how great yall are upfront on both sides. On the coaches show even made a point to let everybody know that is where our program will be eventually .Talked about the strength program and how good yall can run the ball.I see us trying to run the ball and slow the game down. With new QB and a banged up Oline we really dont have a lot of options. But being non region maybe he tries some things we wouldnt expect.Having good skill guys is great but watching Greenville dominate upfront is something some fans need to see.Its everthing if you wanna be really good.Ill be down on the fence and look forward to meeting some of the Greenville fans.

You sound like an OR fan...be careful, you'll be making excuses for everything pretty soon.

Talking about players being out is not an excuse but a fact. The only reason it has been talked about so much is because of how many injuries to key players there has been. Not many schools at all could overcome that.Imagine having a month or so to teach your system to some high school kids. Then imagine since jamboree having to mix and match new players on top of teaching a new system and new way of doing things.Besides all that most of the players you are teaching have never played meaningful snaps. On top of that trying to improve a team that was even worse last year. There is so much more involved than saying we have 3 or 4 talented guys and should beat a machine like Greenville. You have lived in fantasy land all yr and been wrong every week.Instead of admitting you are wrong you make excuses and blame everything but you

The game went about as I figured it would go, experience advantage to Potts and the Powell receivers, who made enough big plays to provide the margin 30-14. I thought Oak Ridge should have got in the power set and run the football a little more, try to move the chains and keep Pal offense off the field. The big over the top plays fixed that. OR quarterback being his first start, did OK, he missed some throws, but made a couple of good ones as well. Just needs to learn the offense better and get the play off before drawing those annoying delay penalties. Again, the message for OR for next week is work on getting the plays off faster, execution and elimination of penalties. No doubt they will be a heavy underdog against a very good Greeneville team, but its a chance to really get better. The goal should be to turn in a 4 quarter game against Karns in two weeks.

Good post.I think the main game plan next week should be working on getting everybody in the right place faster and knowing what to do.I know its new system and new lineup every week but the confusion is killing us.The defense is in a good spot and should just get better. If we can just get the offense in sync and on same page it will go a long way.Big salute to Dozier for how hard he goes no matter what.He had over 100 yds rushing and close to 100 rec even with the defense keying on him.I thought 14 was decent for his 1st start. We just cant miss those wide open walk in TDs like the one we missed right before half when he way under threw it.The wind was in his face but maybe it just slipped.Ive seen this team practice and know they will get it worked out.
