  1. I read about the Henry Co./Milan scrimmage in the Milan newspaper today.  Had to wait because it is only a weekly paper.

The article mentioned that it was 5tds to 2 for Henry Co first string on first string.  That is definitely a butt whippin'!!!

The article also mentioned that our 1st and 2nd string qb's were both out with injuries and there were 3 others starters that did not play because of injuries.  Plus our 2 starting wide receivers split the snaps at qb since the starters were injured.

No excuses.... you are the better team.  I just wish we could have matched up with you guys with everyone healthy.  It would have given us a much better picture of where our team is!!!

Seems like Milan rarely performs great in scrimmages but still does well when the real games start. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I had heard your QB was out, but to be honest, and not trying to rub anything in, but our starting D pretty much lived in Milan's backfield for most of the day, so it really may not have made much of a difference (especially after seeing our D have its way with Dickson County in a similar way). The trenches is where the true disparity was.

If Milan can gel together up front, they really do have some impressive skill guys to lean on.

  2. How have some of the pre-season scrimmages went for the teams of 10 AAA ?

HC has had two so far. Dominated Milan in the first one and then handled Dickson County fairly easily last night. We'll scrimmage MBA in Nashville this Friday followed by our jamboree next Friday to close out the preseason.

Anyone know how Northeast, CHS, and Springfield are looking?

  3. We won 4 TD's to 1 over all. Another very impressive showing for the 1st team defense. I'm not sure they even gave up a first down. 1st team offense looked pretty good but only played for a few series. Long TD run on an end around by Keshun Love and then Randolph hit Donaldson in the endzone for a score. Henderson only carried the ball a few times from what I remember. #6 had some pretty solid runs.

  4. as HC is the supposed favorite each year in said district...and seeing as how last season there was a 3 way tie with dickson, HC and NE...ill take the team that played beech the best to win it this coming season...and...NE beat HC...

Northeast lost their Mr. Everything QB/LB Jalen Reeves-Maybin to UT, along with at least a dozen other starters. HC was very young last season and brings back around 15 starters. We are the clear favorite to win the district in 2013.

Good luck to Liberty, except in week 0 of course.

  5. Congrats to Kyler Ainley for signing to play football at Bellhaven in Mississippi!

On another note, I'm suprised that that's all I've heard out of this outgoing senior class. Surely at least a couple more will be picked up by somebody. It would be a travesty if neither Hilliard nor Cowans got a shot somewhere. Those two in particular are down right terrific athletes, and surely one of the more local schools at least could use their services.

Good luck to all of those guys. They've been a part of some great things at HCHS.

I haven't heard anything about Storme or Trey, but I've heard through the grapevine that rising senior Brandon Donaldson is beginning to pick up some good interest as a receiver. I'm not sure if they've offered or not, but apparently Duke has already put out some feelers and invited him to their spring game.

  6. I wasn't sure what in the heck I was reading until I looked at the date this thread was started lol. Serious digging there, Racer. I remember the early 2000's very well. It took basically a perfect storm of events for us to sink as low as we did, and an almost equally perfect storm of events for us to rise out of it (which we obviously did). A lot of people blamed the relatively low enrollment numbers (which actually weren't much lower than they are now) and the strength of our region as our problems. But you are right, the administration at that time didn't do a ton of favors with regards to athletics. And it didn't take long for that attitude to trickle down the proverbial "ladder". I don't see us making those same mistakes again any time soon.

I always hated it for Coach Webb. He struck me as a guy who was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. But I hated it for the kids more than anything. We really did have some great individual players during those years. Unfortunately, we had an equal number of "potentially" great players who were either roaming the halls, playing other sports, getting kicked off the team, or quitting.

  7. So does anyone have the entire schedule available? I know who all we play, just looking for what order.

On a side note, congrats to HC's own Marsalis Teague for graduating from UT today!

Wow, where has the time gone? Seems like just yesterday I was at a Henry County practice session and wondering "who's this number 3?" Congratulations to him.

And all I know is Liberty is week 0, Beech is week 1, and Ridgeway is week 3. Haven't seen a district schedule.

  8. That's a tough non district schedule. Liberty was in the 4A semis this year and I think they bring alot back. Beech will still have Hurd and Ridgeway will probably be one of Shelby County's better teams yet again. If we can go 2-1 with that it will be a success. Beyond that, barring some unforeseen circumstances (which are always very possible I suppose), I don't expect us to lose a district game. Northeast will come back down to earth, probably hard, after losing Reeves-Maybin. And I think we just have too much talent coming back on both sides for everyone else. Obviously very early, seeing as how we're just a month removed from the season, but I see 9-1 or 8-2 at worst, and we should be set up nicely for a playoff run.

I'd like to know who the front runners for QB are. Randolph will be a senior, but unless he is head and shoulders the best passer, I'd love to see one of our speedsters in the backfield alongside Henderson, whether it be Thompson, Love, or Benau.

Here's to a LONG off season. Go Pats!!!

  9. Maryville will school you on real football. Talk all the trash you want but its sad to watch 90% of your kids fall off in your community. Very sad. Very proud that MJ kids will go on to very productive lives. You guys face a very sad life ... that's just a very bacic fact. Glad we live here & you live there.

Good luck in Cookville. Really doesn't matter either way. Only one or two of you will make your life better by making it to the next level & statisticallly.. both both of those guys will be losers. Please .... Please have everyone on your squad watch ESPN's 30/30's Broke. All of the thugs on your squad need to watch it.

I actually hope you guys win Saturday night so everyone on your squad can be on ESPN in 10 years on the next 30/30.

    What a moronic post.

    Do you feel better now?

  10. Beech wins this going away. Quite possibly it is the first of 3 in a row for Beech. Hurd will be a senior next year and the current sophomore class was very good as freshmen.

I agree that Beech wins this one going away, but 3 in a row?

Beech will still have Hurd and Carter next year, which gives them an advantage over everyone, but Henry County will make noise as well over the next few years. We, too, had a sophomore class that was very, very good as freshmen who will be juniors next year. Our rising senior class is no joke either. With Beech losing 15+ starters, 2013 might not be a slam dunk for them, even with Hurd and Carter. Their current offensive line is excellent, and deserves a good deal of the credit as well.

  11. The School Adm person is from Willamson County and still lives over there he doesn't even live in Dickson County. He wants the school system in Dickson county to be alined with those schools over there a big mistake in hiring this joker.???

Who are you referring to ?

As I replied earlier....week 10 was open but...

Week 10 was not open for Henry County. Not sure where you got that info. We have a district game scheduled that week, and uhh...we kind of have to play those...

  12. I was told that DC wanted week 10 with Henry County because 3 was already filled. Henry didn't work it out. Might want to get your facts straight before you bash DC AGAIN ! As for the rivalry sounds like it was Henry Co. that didn't keep it alive.

Lol yeah. I heard all about week 10.

  13. Just as I expected, HC faithful blaming DC for this situation when TSSAA putting us in a new district. Olddevil were you there and personaly heard a representative from DC say what you quoted? Please do not say DC was tired of losing to HC because the record was pretty even overall for 35 years and I personaly was hoping we could continue the rivalry but if your having trouble scheduling in your new district you have to make difficult decisions about certain games. HC would have the same problem if put in a new district and maybe whoever you guys pick up you will show a little more respect for that schools rituals on their home field after a game ends. Several representatives from the media and a few college recruiters said it was not a very classy act. Good luck to HC!!

Give me a break. Dickson County filed a petition to move into that district. HC was ready to bend over backwards to keep the series running. We went as far as to request a new freaking district (which of course was denied) just to free up some open dates. And apparently both schools still had Week 3 open, but DC didn't want to schedule us.

This info came straight from our head coach. Not sure why he would lie about it. Sounds to me like it ended on Dickson's terms, not the TSSAA's.

  14. Last I checked Marsalis Teague won Mr. Football as a senior, along with being named Tennessee's gatorade player of the year (an even higher honor), was offered numerous SEC football scholarships along with other D1 offers (Tennessee, Florida, Alabama, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Michigan), and he also never lost to Jackson North Side.

If you're gonna talk down on players, you better come with some ammo besides numbers.

    Excellent post.

I don't know why some people are taking it as an insult to Adam Craig. The kid's a great football player, but ease up just a little bit.

  15. Well, the curse of the defending 5A state champion lives on. For the 3rd consecutive season, the defending 5A state champions fall in the 1st round.

Congrats to Hamilton. They didn't get our best game, but they earned this one. Their defense was spectacular, particularly in the 1st half. Their defensive ends were incredible.

I hate it for our seniors to go out like this, but they've accomplished a lot in their time here, and they will get over this one and realize they had a truly great run at HC.

  16. I agree that some of the system makes no sense, but no need to fret over some road playoff games. I realize not everyone can travel, which is a bummer, but as far as the team is concerned, it doesn't really worry me that much. Remember '06 and '08? We're no strangers to traveling west and having success in November.

Here we sit in week 10 and I'm still not sure how it will play out. I mean heck, isn't it still possible for us to end up in quad 3? Who knows how much that could potentially shake things up. Not much we can do about anything except handle the business in front of us.

  17. He should be good to go by playoff time. He didn't dress tonight and probably won't next week against Gallatin. Apparently, it was just a slight separation with no serious damage. Maybe a blessing as it gives him a chance to rest and gives some of our other skill guys a chance to get better for the playoff run. I still think HC is the class of West TN. Good luck to you the rest of the way. Do you think ya'll will end up in quad 3 or 4?

Good to hear. Hate to see any player go down, especially one with his talent. As for what quad we end up in, it's hard to say right now. Good chance of us going west, but you'd have to ask QBClubPrez, he seems to know what's going on. He's been pretty much guaranteeing us to the west for a few weeks now.

  18. Good game HC...as I said earlier in the week, this game would be won in the trenches and HC whipped us on both sides of the ball. This game could have been a little closer if DC's off. coordinator would have tried to throw the ball a little more in the first half because running game not clicking thanks to HC's defense.HC won by not making mistakes and DC did!! What was up with the HC fans on the field after the game with the toilet paper? Come on people, this was not a state title game, show some class.

Probably some of the students. You know how that can be. Either way, good luck to the DC Cougars.
