  1. Wont happen in Summertown!!!!!!! That was one of the most disappointinly refereed game I have seen in some time. Call it both ways!!!!!!!! All night long, our dribble drive was effective and was leaving the shooter open in the corner and on the wing----I havent seen a team collapse on the dribble drive as bad as LCHS---our guards have to see it and kick it back out to our shooters and you would be buried. Summertown will beat them by 15 or 20 the next time and there won't be any dunks either.

The only difference in the next game will probably be about 2500 fans and indoor plumbing!

  2. This was not a competition for the band. It was an individual audition that each band member participated in (or those that chose to) from all over the middle tennessee region and was sanctioned by the MTSBOA (http://www.mtsboa.com/) which is one of three regions under the TMEA (http://tnmea.org/index.aspx) which is the state authority for music education somewhat like the TSSAA is for sports. THIS WAS A STATE SANCTIONED EVENT and was not an event to be RESCHEDULED for anything.

This is an individual event(in which THOUSANDS of band students attend). Each student goes into a room with a "number" and there is a divider in the room. The judges behind the screen tell the band student on the other side (who the judges cant see) to play scales, the prepared piece and sightreading. This audition lasts maybe 3-4 minutes. A SNEEZE in the middle? NO DO OVERS. You have to cough? NO DO OVERS. You mess up and there is NO DO OVER. The judges simply say, "Audition is over. THank you."

These band kids, that everyone doesn't understand...well lets put it this way...they work ALL YEAR LONG bettering themselves to perform well in this ONE "3-4 Minute" moment. There isn't 10 games to impress a college coach, college reruiter and there is no highlight reel. There is just a judge that can't even see you and your just a number to them. AT the end of the day,... the best players get listed and get to put that on their college resumes. My son finished 1st in the midstate and made allstate. He has recieved letters from 2 Division 1 schools this week. That Friday he had been personally invited to attend a workshop by a college professor at the college he wants to attend. Last week, based on his ability & accomplishments (like the midstate/allstate auditions)he has been invited to tour Europe for 20 days this summer that only 66 kids from Canada, the US and Central America were invited to.

He is working for his college scholarship just like any athlete would do.

AND THIS is the "why" concerning the band. I hope it explains the "MUST" where these students were concerned. Bottom line, Tullahoma did have a band there at that game.

As stated above they are a support role, not a factor in a game.

Congrats to YOU and your son!

  3. Congratulations to the Tullahoma High School Band and the number that made mid-State and All State.

I was correct in assuming, based on the PA announcer's reaction, that the lights had been turned off in prior game. http://columbiadailyherald.com/articles/2010/11/20/sports//01lions.txt states this was the second time that the lights had been turned off in a game. Obviously those in charge of the stadium did not learn from that first time so here is hoping that they learn from the second incident and keep a lock on the switch at all times. Granted the person should not have pulled the switch but the switch should not be able to be activated by anybody that walks by. I wonder where the controls to the sprinklers are?

That should make that guy feel much better!!! At least we know now there is another one just like him. Lets blame Columbia for not putting the switch to the lights in a better place, the band for not being there, the PA guy for being loud and the horn in the end zone. I am not sure any of the above really had anything to do with the game except the lights being turned off and that was only a 20 minute delay. Columbia was just the better team! Oh yeah, Congrats to the band!!

  4. I thought they were the bigger and stronger team and the Lions wore us down in the second half of the first game. Hopefully, the Cats can build a little bigger lead. Columbia seems to have a better passing game this time around with a different QB in the Markham kid. Neither team had a lot of turnovers during the season. Both teams have a good kicking game. Tullahoma's defense is better than the first game with Columbia. Tullahoma has the more experienced QB, but the Lions might have the best running back with Goff, although Trey Burks has really come on the last few games after coming back from an injury in the Lincoln Co game and Jordan Sheffield has returned 4 punts for TD's in the last 2 games. Tullahoma can score quickly from anywhere on the field with their skill players and their speed. If Tullahoma's offensive and defensive lines play like they have the past 3 weeks, the Cats have a good chance of winning. The majority of the Tullahoma's coaching staff has been together for 18 years, probably longer than any other staff in District 8AAA, since Coach Thompson retired from Lincoln Co. This should be a great game and I like our chances.

    Binns,

I think the biggest difference in this game and the first game will be the "Super Sophomores" that T'town will field! During the early part of the season they were playing like sophomores but their play in the last couple months have really been key to Tullahoma's continued success! I am not sure there is a more talented group of sophomores in the state! If the youngsters continue to play well and the Seniors keep them focused then I would have to say Tullahoma has a very good chance. Of course there are a lot of "ifs" there and with Debowsdad having Columbia at +6 then the advantage has to go to the home team!

  5. Again, these numbers are based solely on common opponents and not to be taken seriously. The spread for this game is Tullahoma +6 (Columbia -6) with an over/under of 48. I haven't gone with an underdog yet, but I am this time. There's a surprise, huh! T-Town in a thriller 31-28. 8-)

That sounds about right. I am going to go with Columbia 30-21. The only reason is because I thought Columbia figured something out in the later part of the first game and I think they will continue where they left off and have home field advantage. Good luck to both teams!

  6. Then WHY are you on the Tullahoma - Columbia game thread. When you get off I will get off!

I was talking with Debowsdad and I am staying in the thread about my district. Are you here because no teams are left out of your district? I never said to get off, I said if you would like to discuss or continue the LCHS/Cleveland game then you and I can discuss it on that thread. It's not that hard.....is it?

  7. As great of a team as LCHS had I can't believe Tullahoma was Heavily favored against them. It is a good thing they have girls Basketball in Lawrenceburg. They seem to be the only championship team you have!

And this comes from a Cleveland fan that is still not happy with what they received a couple weeks ago? This is not the time or post for anything you have to say ABLB. If you want to talk about the Cleveland/LCHS game then go to that post and leave this one alone. That is all I have to say to you here! Just think how bad T'town would have beaten yalls tails if yall would have lucked out. I guess we really did you a favor!! :roflol:

  8. The numbers have been crunched. I just haven't made my score prediction yet. I don't think the spread or the over/under will surprise anyone who knows these two teams. Tune in tomorrow. Same Cat station, same Cat channel. :popcorneater:

I take it they are not very favorable for the cats. I know the last two games when they were heavily in favor of your team you didn't hesitate to post them!

  9. Only one station refers to county cats and it is not us

I have been told that it was indeed the "other" station. I am sorry! I also listened to your show this week and it was nice to hear your station say nice words about the LCHS program and coaches. They do and have done a great job. With so few coaches on the staff what they have done is truely impressive. We are truely blessed to have them around our kids. Don't think for an instant that we don't notice the job Coach Olive does over there either. I know sometimes we all get caught up in the heat of the battle but I think both programs respect each other very much. :thumb:

  10. Not one negative comment about any Lawrence Co. player, coach, fan, etc... Even on High School Sports Plus Monday night Binns and I continued to talk about what a great job Coach Marston has done. Hey I been watching your team for 25 years so I can really appreciate where he has taken that program.

Be careful of thy slanderous remarks as they can come back to bite.

You say that like it was a chore for you?

  11. We have 2 sets of radio broadcasters and I would be very surprised if any of them said anything like that. I try to listen to both at the games, and have thought them to be very professional. Do you remember the station name or frequency you were listening to?

I appreciate your response but I am really wanting to hear from Scott. It was an FM station if that helps. There might be lots of things that surprise you if you sit on the other side of that great stadium you have!

  12. Give it a rest people. It was a heck of a lick by Whit Shelton on Sheffield and emotions got a little hot. However, anyone implying that Tullahoma coaches cussed Shelton is ridiculous.

Let me say that if the NFL and college football are going to put all this new emphasis on head-to-head hits for the safety of the players then it would seem that high schools would need to do the same.

Tullahoma folks let us turn our attention away from the win over Lawrence Co. and focus on the Columbia Lions. Quit talking about Lawrence Co. having the best player in the district because they don't. Columbia does and his name is Tra'Darius Goff and just read about how he completely dominated Knoxville Catholic on both sides of the ball.

You Lawrence Co. folks have had a great two-year run and Coach Marston has done a superb job in building that program. You might want to begin working towards replacing some of those great players that you will lose to graduation.

    Scott,

Are you the one on the radio that said the cruel remarks about Lincoln County earlier in the year and also said Lawrence County was playing dirty Friday night on the radio? If I heard right, you called Lawrence County the "dirty county cats"! If you were the one, then I would like to say shame on you for getting on the radio and using that tool to talk about another teams program! If it wasn't you then I would like to know who it was because I don't think it was Binns. I didn't see a dirty game. I saw two teams playing hard nosed football! As for the player of the year, lets see who the coaches vote for. I think they will have it correct!

  13. anyone know if LC's dt Flesher is going to play? I know he tried to play last week but couldn't he would help shut down that run game of Tullahoma. eather way I think LC wins!!!

I honestly doubt he will play. He is coming off a break and not a sprain. He would definetly be lots of help if he could be around 90% but I just don't see it happening. With a win I think his chances of playing again goes way up though.

  14. Tullahoma Football is....

    Holding together firmly; cohesive.

    Tenacious is defined as....

    Holding together firmly; cohesive.

"...What is the secret that unites them?...What does this point to? We must proceed by a process of elimination. " -Ichabod Crane

    Tullahoma=Tenacious

It ain't called T-Town for nothin'! :flower:

And yes, on this day, Veterans Day, in honor of all those who have sacrificed & fought for each of us to have the freedom to express our opinions without fear, I'm grateful for all of us to be able to voice our opinions here, on Coach T. My opinion is I support our Tullahoma Football team and wish them the best!

:thumb: HAPPY VETERANS DAY! Thanks and Gratitude to each soldier here and abroad, past and present. :motorbike:

    Great post!!! No arguements here!!

  15. If Siegel was in our district, they would have been very competitive with all of us for the title. :thumb:

I can't argue with you there......I didn't have the chance to see Siegel play this year. I still say Tenacious is a strong word for their play "all" season. I am not even going to try and challenge ONPOINT after the veterans day comment. Now that was a very BOLD STATEMENT!! :thumb: Good luck to both teams tomorrow!

  16. Okay, point made about Shelbyville. But when you can name 2 teams on LC's schedule that remotely come close to Blackman and Siegel, I'll listen. Other than Columbia, there's no one. Coffee County was a raw emotion game this year for many reasons.

You are absolutely correct when you say Blackman but Siegel is a stretch! The one thing I must point out here is I am not the one calling my team "Tenacious". I have to give T'town respect but I just can't give them enough credit to call them Tenacious.

  17. Not certain what other team that Lawrence County is sending to Tullahoma this week, versus the team that came before, but I'm certain about one thing for sure...on Friday night,The Tullahoma Wildcats will be the same tenacious team they have been all season. I have faith in these T-Town Boys! They scrap, dig and keep on truckin' till they get the job done!

Hope it is a safe game for all the players! :thumb:

Would like to wish the Seniors GOOD LUCK!!!! Do what you guys do! Go Cats!

Come on.........TENACIOUS? I would hardly go as far as that to describe this T'town team. Were they "Tenacious" against Blackman (27-49), Coffee County (43-39), Shelbyville (29-39) or Siegel (30-33)? I would have to ask which team will Tullahoma bring Friday night also. If you were talking about T'towns last two games then you might get away with "Tenacious" but they have not been able to be described as that all season. Which two teams show up?

  18. Well, I hope it was just something you ate. You're only giving us 17 pts!? Talk about no respect. The numbers say: T-Town has scored at least 21 pts in every game and LC has given up 61 in its last 2 games. As far as LC scoring 28, that is in the realm of possibilities. It all depends on which Tullahoma defense decides to show up. But, who knows? It's the playoffs. Anything can happen.

It may very well be something I ate but I will have to wait and see Friday night. I never once said anything about not respecting Tullahoma! The reason I only gave them 17 points is because I thought LCHS gave them one cheap TD at the end of the game trying to get a big play. I also thought one of the other TD's should have probably just been a field goal instead of a quick 6. That is how I came up with the 17. You and I both know it's simply a guess and has nothing to do with respect. I also think that T'town played one of their best games against LCHS last week. I have seen them play at least four games this year and last week was, in my opinion, their best. Again that is just my opinion and regardless if it was or wasn't I am sure you and the coaches are very proud of the your teams performance. I for one hope you and your team keep playing with those "numbers" and the LCHS bunch plays with "heart and pride"! If it will make you feel any better I will change my score: LCHS 28-21. I wouldn't want to mess the T'town scoring streak up. :roflol:

  19. Aww, come on! It's just all in good fun. So, what is your prediction? And, if you don't mind, explain your method. You got to admit, my White County numbers were "Dead on balls accurate. It's a technical term."(My Cousin Vinny)LOL :roflol: And, I did use the proper amount of torqueage.

I know it's all in fun!! My prediction is LCHS 28-17. I don't have any numbers crunching methods, it's just my gut feeling! I feel as is the LCHS bunch learned a lot from that loss and it appeared they started using that hard learned lesson last week. I look for a different team come Friday night! Thats all I have. No crystal ball, no computer program, just a deep down gut feeling that our young men didn't bring their best game the last time they played yall and they will use this second chance to turn the tables!

  20. Okay, Binns. Here is my number crunching for this game. Again, this is based solely upon common opponents. No emotions or off-field factors are involved. And, don't let the previous meeting between these teams fool you. The line for this game is Tullahoma -10. The over/under is 50. My prediction is T-Town wins 31-17. Again, this is not to be taken seriously. However, if I hit this one like I did White County, I may do this for a living. :thumb:

OK Kev......very amusing!! I would have to honestly say you might need to keep the everyday job becasue I don't think your "number crunching" game will be quite so amusing next week when you are crunching the LCHS/Knox Catholic game.

  21. Congratulations Lawrence Co from Tullahoma. Glad you kept in the family and didn't let those guys from E.Tenn win tonite. See you next Friday in Tullahoma for the rematch. How did Trent Garland do tonite and who were the heroes for the Wildcats?

Thanks Binns.....I will have to say you are a class act. What a great game tonight and we are proud of our boys! Trent Garland was Trent Garland!! He is our Superman. We also heard yall won and as hard as it is to say sometimes, we are also proud of yall. We are not crazy about coming back to T'town but we are excited about moving on in the playoffs. Cleveland played a great ballgame and their QB/Receivers reminded me of yours! Looking forward to the radio show and don't forget us Lawrence Countians listen in too! Till next week :thumb:

  22. We specifically had a defensive gameplan to not allow them to get off tackle. One players job was to blow up the play by busting up the pulling guards and forcing the play back inside to the linebackers. Worked pretty well, I thought. :thumb:

It worked very well! Yall take care of White County and We hopefully can take care of Cleveland and we can resume this rivalry! It should be fun to say the least! Good luck this week!
