  1. I wouldn't underestimate them if that's what your comment is hinting at... They could easily walk away with 1st seed coming into the district tournament. In the event of tied records by the end of the regular season play, Siegel's goal differential is greater than any other teams so far in the district, and it can be expected that it will remain at top. I think Riverdale and Siegel should be the game of the district, both teams have impressive records and are proving themselves as great teams, and another strong year for Riverdale (as always). Siegel has put forth some very good scores against Smyrna and Oakland, and Riverdale has a very low amount of goals scored against. It will be an interesting game to say the least! Personally, I'm pulling for Siegel (and for the record, I'm not necessarily affiliated with Siegel, I just think it's their time to shine), but hey I'm up for debate . Blackman has the edge on Lavergne with a 2-1 win, but I feel that LaVergne will carry themselves further in the post season. Smyrna and Oakland are carrying up the rear, although it could be possible for Smyrna to pull the upset in tournament play. All of their losses have been relatively close in score (disregarding their match against Siegel) and they seem to be a strengthening team, so I would not count them out!!
  2. If this was any sort of rank, it would be pretty irrelevant. In comparison to schedules, Siegel and Riverdale are really the only two that can talk.
  3. Anyone have an analysis on the game? I was unable to make it tonight. (Had a rehearsal dinner to attend.... don't ask )
  4. I agree with this to an extent. Hendy should be 1 though. And in terms of Riverdale and LaVergne (7AAA), if you put them in the top 10, you would have to include Siegel right next to them, who lost to LaVergne in the district quarters in quadruple overtime while down a player after an early red card. They are returning many starters as well. And I'd watch out for Maryville, early word is that they may be pulling the strength of the district. And Dobyns-Bennett, did they not lose their key player this year?? Not so sure about their strength but it sounds interesting enough. White Station may be best coming from Memphis and could make it to state, but would you put them in the top 10 over other teams??
  5. Hmmmm... Don't agree on this, but then again I'm not a Blackman fan. I think the previous two posts make a lot more sense. 7AAA is a battle within the top 3: LaVergne, Riverdale, and Siegel. I'm not excluding Oakland (aka McCollum) or Blackman (aka ... Zeeck?), but in the grand scheme of things, this district really isn't going to see a huge switch in power compared to last year. Yeah each team lost a key player, but all teams have great players filling in. This is high school soccer and things can change in a day. But from a mid-January POV, its 1. Riverdale, LaVergne, Siegel 4. Blackman, Oakland 6. Smyrna According to your post: LaVergne with the best midfield? Siegel with strong underclassmen? Blackman with the most talent? Please site your sources!
  6. 7AAA will be more or less the same next year. Expect Riverdale, LaVergne, and Siegel to be the top again. Riverdale and LaVergne will lose strength in the midfield and Siegel will lose their keeper. However, they all have many returning players that will fill in easily. Oakland, Blackman, and Smyrna should have a harder time finding success in the district.
  7. Siegel beat Oakland 4-1
  8. I think you we're going for the word deflection and not reflection Yeah, I would agree with this. Great game played by both teams... one of the most exciting games I've seen. The momentum completely changed after the first half, which Riverdale had the upper-hand on, and it went to more of a Siegel control. District is becoming more unpredictable with each game!
  9. It was a great game! Siegel and LaVergne definitely were back-to-back throughout most of the game. LaVergne had 2 goals boths from outside the box on excellent finishes. They are clearly a danger in the midfield especially on the left side. Siegel had numerous opportunities to score, especially within the last 10 minutes, but never found the back of the net.
  10. It's great that all of these games are on different nights... So I'll most likely be in attendance for all of them. Predicting Siegel and Lavergne.... Anyone's guess Riverdale over Oakland Siegel over Blackman
  11. My little mid-season review thus far: The teams really are looking pretty even at the moment... I'm really curious to how the rest of the district games will play out. Right now I'm giving Riverdale the early lead, since they beat LaVergne who is one of the tougher teams of the 5 in contention, and I personally feel they can handle Blackman and Oakland. Siegel still has to make their debut in district play after returning from Bearden, and they will only shake things up even more... I've felt from the beginning this is Siegel's year to win and I'm going to stick with my gut on this one, but we will definitely see within the coming weeks. With Oakland losing to LaVergne and tying Blackman, they have a huge uphill climb if they want to place in the top 2 and need some luck from the outcomes of other games. LaVergne's results confuse me a bit in their placement, but I think they will show out within the district. Blackman is also another one that I don't know much about since their schedule isn't extremely tough. Their district games are the toughtest of their season and that may cause problems in the long run. This is definitely one of the more exciting districts to follow. 1. Siegel 2. Riverdale 3. LaVergne 4. Blackman 5. Oakland 6. Smyrna
  12. It was Siegel's game, they just couldn't finish the ball tonight. Possession- I'd say about 80% Siegel to 20% Tullahoma (the majority of Tullahoma's possession was towards the end when Siegel subbed in and out players).
  13. Siegel- 3 Shelbyville- 1 Siegel started slow with a goal against them on a quick counter attack. Bounced back second half and controlled the game with many opportunities, scoring only 3. Any score on the LaVergne/Oakland game?
  14. Hmm... I really have to disagree with this. Riverdale really has suffered from the loss of one of its greatest players. In soccer, a go-to player/scorer makes a great difference (which is what Compton in a sense was). No doubt I think that Riverdale is and will adjust, but losing a player like him is difficult to pass off. I think that you really have Siegel mistaken for another team. Offense is what they lack. Siegel has never been a scoring team and definitely need to figure it out if they want a chance at winning the district. Defense and midfield for Siegel is a strength. I've seen 3 of Siegel's games and they're defense is solid, especially when they keep their starting line until the end (unlike in preseason). Having only a total of 3 goals scored against by Columbia, Brentwood, Ravenwood, Father Ryan, and Baylor proves their strength on the "other side" of the ball, enough said. You must really don't know much about LaVergne, but they are a great contender. They are a strength in this district that shouldn't be overlooked. They have a solid midfield that could easily lead their team to the top. Oakland and Blackman are both strong team that can easily take over the district. And as far as season rankings, this is the type of group that can be be scattered 1-5. Its any team's district, it just matters who shows out when they need to the most.
