  1. I guess Croy is the exception to the rule. My 3 seniors with four years of wrestling experience are all going on to college because of their grades. This is different than teams of our past in which wrestlers medaled but couldn't go to college because their ACT scores and GPA were to low to qualify. I strive to get them to the next level in life whether it is wrestling or grades that get them there.
  2. I liked that during the parade of champions they could stretch the DI and DII divisions out instead of stacking them on top of each other. The lack of food places can be corrected by choosing the right hotel. Ours had refrigerators and microwaves allowing us to bring our own groceries. Last year, our hotel cost the same in Chatt but did not have any way of keeping food cold. My staff and I did control what our wrestlers ate and kept them on weight. Last year, we had one fail to make weight by .2 pounds. I think attendance seemed down because of the overall size of the building. If we go to double elim maybe more will stay for the finals. I know the Clarksville area did not publicize the event much. At our regionals there were some wrestlers that still thought states was being held in Chattanooga. If this gets us to double elim it will be worth it.
  3. I had a senior this year that did not make it out of regionals. I felt bad and like I had let him down because he didn't get to the state tournament. When he got home he received his ROTC letter and he will go to college. While has coaches we focus on wins and losses the big picture is to get them to graduate and on to bigger and better things in life. I wish all my seniors the best in life.
  4. Currently we have Northeast bringing 20, Kenwood 4, Independeance 6, Fort Campbell 3, SAS 1 Coach Haley says she heard more teams interested but they haven't contacted me on the girls event. The Dual event has tentatively scheduled Rossview, Fort Campbell, Beech, Hopkinsville(Ky), Kenwood, Greenbrier, and possibly Fairview.
  5. I heard another mats whistle. My girlfriend broke up with me. and my personal favorite, I let him win.
  6. Kenwwood H.S. Clarksville has added two events and still has some slots available. first is an All Girl invitational on Nov. 28. I know this is Thanksgiving weekend but it is the only weekend that the boys aren't wrestling. Currently, there are 13 girls for this event from 4 schools. This event is trying to get the girls as many matches as possible so if necessary this may be a round robin tournament to get them 5 matches if their weight class has enough wrestlers. We are also hosting War at the Woods on Jan 23rd. This is dual format and comes the week before regional dual matches so it can serve as a great tune up for duals. Currently we have six teams committed and would like to make it a five match guarantee. If interested in either event you can email me at dana.brown@cmcss.net
