  1. This MJ team has been underestimated for a lot of the year especially here at the end of the season. Ever since the WC game people have doubted them and really didnt think they would make it that far in the playoffs. This team fights and has progressivly gotten better throughout this year. The coaching staff should be commended. The athletes have bought in and will be prepared. I can not wait to travel to Memphis this Friday to see a great game.

  2. I love the prediction of the lopsided victory for WC by StatMan. I dont know where you could see a lopsided win by either team, but its you opinion.

Both teams are good and have big play capability. There is a lot at stake in the game and should be an exciting one to watch. I have seen both teams play and would say that this is going to be a great match-up. WC has a big offensive line and fairly big D line. MJ has an undersized offensive line and a fairly big D line. Backs (offensive and D backs) for both teams are very good and explosive. I might be "crazy", but it could come down to special teams. Havent seen either team enough to know who has the advantage in that one.

  3. FACT: Beech has the personnel to be effective.

    FACT: So does MJ.

This is going to be an epic battle of two very good teams. Both teams are very well coached and have the athletes to compete at a high level. I trully believe that the winner wins the battle in the trenches. Can MJ or Beech control the line of scrimmage? We will know in 4 days. Cannot wait to see this one.

  4. Wow! Great info. Sounds like a great pick up. I knew that both lines were going to be recontructed after graduating so many last year. Just from stats, it seemed like the o line hadn't really missed a beat and the d line was def. getting the job done. I would say experience from the new coach is going to help and i believe the o line coach has been there for a while, right? Can not wait to see the bears here in a couple of weeks. Just been reading the paper about them so far, but seems things are headed in the right direction.

  5. With the Siegel loss last night, both Brentwood and Franklin look to have a better setup in the playoffs than Indy. It looks like indy might end up playing siegel in round one, but Brentwood and Franklin have more winable matchups and a better chance to get to round two. Of course all if this is subject to change.

Tomorrow is definitely going to be interesting.

Good luck to both teams. Wet, cold field...definitely favors a run team.

Yes because MJ is so much easier and should be a gimme. lol

It ought to be interesting how this whole thing pans out.

  6. We'll never know if MJ could hang with FC  . FC players have to play that "iron man" football where the majority of them play both ways. While so many of MJ's kids only play either O or D but not both.

I can say that FC called both LHS and WC to schedule football games this year & next and neither could work seem to work it out.

As for coach Perry he probably remembers a few games versus FC back when he was coaching in their district. I fondly remember one where his boys from Westmoreland were ranked #1 and went down @ home to FC 49-7. Man his temper was up that night!

Heard WC scrimmaged Macon Co last week who FC defeated last year and had mixed results. Also hear that Macon dressed about 85 and Central had about 40.

Very little being said on LHS this spring but they will have a good class of Srs and Freshmen but thin in between. Just glad I'm not a coach over there right now. That "revolving" coaching door seems busy!

I can probably tell you why LHS and WCHS wont play FC. The main reason is because those schools dont want there kids recruited by FC. It wouldnt be smart to play a private school inside your own county or honestly any of them. They see a kid and somehow they seem to end up at that school the next year. I am sure you will deny this like most private school people do, but facts are facts. Lebanon has been pick pocketed the last couple of years. I am sure it had nothing to do with a little persuasion from another school. If I were FC I wouldnt worry about LHS, WCHS, or MJ. I would worry about Trousdale.

  7. I heard there was some coaches from the Boro region interested, but honestly don't see them coming due to money issues. Also, who says it can't be anybody from within the county? I don't think that it will be anybody from within the Lebanon program, but there are some extremely good coaches in that county especially from one school in particular. Just don't know if any are interested. Does anyone have any connections to the LHS program as to who the top canidates are????

  8. Perry has built the numbers back up at MJ,got the school pride going strong, and knows how to develop his talent that he has. The guy is an exceptional coach. If this is rebuilding and they are in round two.....kudos to him and his staff. I can't remember, was/is it his son or his son-in-law that was/is his defensive coodinator? How many yrs has Perry been in the coaching game? Seems like I have heard his name as one of the elite coaches forever.

I know it was early, but MJ came to Oakland for a scrimmage and it was a nail bitter. Oakland won by a field goal. They are a feisty bunch that gives maximum effort (typical of a Perry team). They lost a lot last year and seem to be young, but don't let that fool you. Smyrna, got to hand it to you. You guys are peeking at the right time. Should be an interesting game that I can not wait to see.

From what I have heard, Coach Perry's son is the D-Coordinator and his son in law is on staff as well. I think he is the O-Line coach.

  9. They call the same game every week. You just don't realize how bad it is because of the competition. It doesn't matter when you play bad competition how efficient your play calling is or how good your clock management is. I'm sure any of the teams in Rutherford County would love to host the Bears.

Let's see. Coach Perry must have made you mad along the way. Did your kid not get to play? Are you an excoach that didn't see eye to eye with him? Or are you just some guy that gets on a message board and likes to run his mouth? You obviously know a lot about the program to making such bold statements. As an Oakland fan and someone who has seen Mt. Juliet the past couple of years, through scrimmage and playoff game, I can tell you we would play Mt. Juliet, but would rather play other teams. Coach Perry has always had solid teams with a solid coaching staff. I guess you would disagree Coach Sidelines.

  10. I really hate to say this but when i was looking at tssaa map one of your comments crossed my mind. I would hate to think anyone would do that but i did think it.

    RandyMC:

Yes it obviously plays out better for them. They are now only looking at one Rutherford County foe instead of two.

I hate to say it to my2cents, but i definetly think it is a true possibility. No one from Cookevegas would admit to it though

  11. Just a couple of thoughts on the bracket:

Is it better than last year?

YES, but there are still many flaws. Take a look at Quad 2 and 3. Let's be real, quad 2 is weak. They have a 3-7, two 5-5's, three 6-4's a 7-3, and an 8-2. Compare that to quad 3 who's worst record is 7-3. UNREAL!!!! The playoff system, yet better, is flawed. The TSSAA only cares about money and how much they can get into their pockets instead of what is fair and just. Instead of worrying about the geography so much, use common sense. Maybe set up the 32 team bracket with 1's vs 16's, 2's vs 15's, etc. It might not be geographical, but it would be logical and gage a better playoff.

Lastly, could it be that Cookeville lost to a 2-7 (pre game record) team so that they wouldn't have to have more than one rutherford county team in their quad? Not beating up on Cookeville. If they did, smart move. Dirty and unrespectable, but smart.

I bet the people in Rutherford County are a tad upset, except for Riverdale. Good luck to quad 3. Whoever whens that quad, and all have legetimate shots, has a great chance of making it to the show. Riverdale, good luck on your way to the semi-final show down.

  12. As I have seen over the years, Perry plays the best players that give the team the best chance to win. It does not matter what the age nor does it matter if they play another sport or not. For most coaches, playing time comes from how they do in practice. Anyways, should be a good game with a huge battle in the middle. Almost as exciting as the Oakland/Riverdale game. ALMOST!!!!
