  1. I have interest in polk co athletics and have come to enjoy watching them play over the last couple years when i get a chance. True i am a central fan charlie. Until last year we owned PC at every single sport played except football (going back about 20 years i might add). You can knock the MC football team all you want to because charger fans know were not any good. here's a novel idea, take your pride and passion to tellico and beat the crap out of them. When you get done with them, muster up a little more passion and drill Notre Dame, if there is an ounce of pride left take the fight to chattanooga christian... wow now that is running the gauntlet... pride and passion baby, pride and passion... go make you a t shirt charlie that on the front says 11-1 district champs and all that stuff and on the back put 8-68 combined record. dont throw stones in a glass house chas

LOL easy big O, not worth getting riled up about!!! I think this game will be tight. I'll cant go against the Wildcats. So i'll go out on a limb and risk a full plate of saturday morning crow and say

    POLK 37

    CAK 35

  2. High School baseball will never go to wood due to the cost. College coaches at all levels have talked about how the new bat is as close to hitting with wood as they come. The new bat WILL make a difference

I have yet to see an approved easton bat as well, but im sure they'll have one to add the the national federation's website soon

  3. this is a hard one to call, tyner has the tallent but so have alot of other teams that polk has beat. if things go south for tyner it could get ugly. if its a close game i say tyner wins.

Bradley and SP had talent but no one else on their schedule had any talent at all. I haven't seen Tyner play, but a district champion is not to be taken lightly and I do not think the wildcats will. From what i hear from people that have seen Tyner play, Polk should win by a couple touchdowns if they don't turn they don't turn the ball over. should be a good game... much better than if we'd have pulled kingston

  4. I have made possitive suggestions: get rid of the admin and make the AD a person who is not a coach add it to an asst prin.

You say the Elem school bb tourny benefits Central, would be beneficial to know how the money is utilized from the event. It should have been used for a seperate gym, not just for athletics but for PE classes as well. Not to make all the modifications to the old gym which is sum people's sacred ground or cloud nine.

Well like I have said if all are treated equally it would be understandable but it is not.

When the bb team holds practice during school as a scheduled period that is only open to players on the team and not all students int he school, that is unfair. Then when a player quits the team they are removed out of the basketball class and placed into weight-training. But if a person decides to quit another sport that is in weight-training they are not placed into the basketball class. Can you say FAVORTISM!!!

The school will never accept any idea that goes against BB. So what is the purpose, its time for BB to feel what all the others have had to deal with.

I must confess tho, THE GREATEST SITE ON A basketball floor is WRESTLING MATS DOOR TO DOOR!!!

hahahaha this is great... PK why dont you fix the wrestling program to prove you shouldn't be institutionalized... a good start would be to get the coach an atlas so you won't have to forfeit multiple matches next year hahahahaha... and its not favoritism to not move a kid from weight training into basketball... why would you put them in basketball???? you're a certified dunce man

  5. I would say to start with win the district games with the a goal of winning 1 playoff game.then strive to wim 2 playoff games and so on. what you are suggesting is that we will never be good no matter what we do?

Not consistently.... History will back me up on that

  6. Excuses i've read...... 1. Administration 2. Little League Program 3. Parents 4. Coaching Staff 5. The district is better this year......

Apparently there are some family members on here that do not want to admit that their kids aren't very talented. Call a spade a spade and call it what it is.... THERE IS NOT ENOUGH TALENT TO FIELD A COMPETITIVE TEAM... a flag football team from the regional park would drill central... but dont feel bad they would drill meigs and sweetwater too. I have a hard time understanding what level of success some of you guys want central to achieve. Is it winning district games?? Is it winning playoff games?? State championships??? District 5 is quite possibly the worst district in AAA football in the state.... bad football is bad football guys. If you throw polk out of the equation ann all-district 5AAA team would not finish above Loudon, CAK, or Alcoa in their district. I think the problem is wide spread and not just a central problem... JMO

  7. at some point in time some of you fans need to realize that no matter what the coaching situation or middle school program situation may be you have to have some talent to win.... Im not knocking the kids but facts are facts, central doesn't have the football talent to compete. IMO talent in all boys sports is down at Central

  8. The only sustained success in the history of Central football was in the 70s when players were going to Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, etc.... i would like to know the overall win/loss record for central since the school began. This is just my opinion but I think that the main issue hurting MC football is getting the best athletes in the school to play football and get them excited about playing football. the last 12-15 years Central has never had a lack of athletes on the baseball field and basketball court... im talking about guys in the 6'0 to 6'3 range that can run. Also, the talent pool across the board in all sports is way down by central standards. I wish the coaching staff well because they are good people and are dedicated to the school, the program, and the community, but they are and likely always will be fighting an uphill battle.

Pummel i have no clue where your jealousy comes from. Apparently you feel like the wrestling program is getting the short end of the stick from someone. I dont think its the administrations fault when the coach cant get his team to a match because he doesn't know where the school is...... or have referees for matches.... you are a fool and part of the problem not part of the solution

  9. The middle school idea is the best idea, but the school system will not support it because it would take away from the small town mentality that McMinn County loves to keep. It would also cost the school system some money and the county is losing tax dollars every year with business closings. Trust me, I know the system, it likes to stay debt free at all times no matter what! As for combining the little leagues, good luck! It makes perfect sense to start teaching the coaches and the kids the system, but what you run into that some of the DADS or coaches seem to know much more than the high school coaches, been there done that, so they are not going to TEACH techniques and the game. They teach what they know, and that is very limited to what they hear on TV, the BP in Englewood, and Hardees in Etowah. I was very close to the program in the years of success and could see what was going to happen, because everyone believes in cycles in that area. Alcoa and Maryville used to be the same way back in the 90s until everyone got on board. Now look at those two schools and what they have been able to do. As I was once told "this ain't Alcoa or Maryville" your darn right it is not because they don't have down years. They reload NOT rebuild! I wish the BIG BLUE all the success in the world, but until changes are made in the County Office and the community mindset changes, CENTRAL will have its ups and downs. By the way, it takes twice as long to rebuild after the down years because faith has been lost. You better get a personable person out on the streets and promise the good folks of Englewah or Etowood the stars. You have to make them believe, but you are going to have to work your BUTT OFF to get the results. You can't live on your name alone, and that is the best advice I can offer to you good folks!

    Touche

  10. they were expected to do that last year, but that didn't happen.... who knows how this one ends up

Anyone that knew squat about local football knows that central was supposed to win last year...... just like cleveland is this year. its the players in the jerseys that win the games... not the logo on the helmet. if central doesn't beat itself i.e. turnovers, pentalties they will hang around for a while, but in the end cleveland gets this one by at least 2 touchdowns

  11. gatorsfan18, we must have been sitting close to each other , I will agree with almost everything you said except a couple 1) polk played a team that made them look better than they are. They are sloooow. But i am sure they will find a way to win most of their games. 2) meigs line looked like they were still learning the blocking schemes.

I will bet a hundred dollars that polk will bust at least one run of 30 or more against every team in the district this year. and when no one is within in ten yards of #22 or #12 when they cross the goal line i would love to hear the opposing fans begin to chant SLOOOWWWWWWW.

  12. If a #1 threw saturday i'd throw him on wednesday. it would not be good to only have your best pitcher be able to throw limited innings on tuesday IMO. McMinn Central had to play their sectional on sunday last year and didn't even get to throw their ace in the tournament. its a tought call to make.
