  1. They are pretty good. They can hit it well from top to bottom. Osborne, Lingenfelter, and Matthews are all good arms. Defense is average, but they rely on the arms to over power you.

Had trouble with Morristown West and Heflin. Good pitching can keep them in check. If their arms are on and their bats solid, they are very difficult to beat.

  2. 1. Sevier Co.

I think this is accurate. Seymour had an umpire debacle at Cherokee Saturday. 2-5 is still up in the air.

  4. Per SBannerSports Twitter:

Two high school baseball jobs have been offered, from what I've been told. Jeff Hopkins from Collierville has been offered the Bearden job. Casey Taylor has reportedly been offered the Sevier County job.

  5. Any news out on any 9AAA signings? Other than Smith (MJ) going to Vandy and somebody from G to CB, haven't heard much... anything on SC player to Cumberland?

    Maryville College wants Beaty.

Cumberland looking at McCollom, LH P/1B and also looking at LF Goddard.

Tanner Sandel was signed by CB in the fall.

  6. Beaty is a good pitcher. Hard Fastball and a decent Breaking Ball. Tends to have some location trouble, but all in all a very good reliable arm when he is on.

  7. The district is really unclear as to who wants the top spot. It is really competitive from top to bottom. Any team can beat any other team in the district, we have all seen that. That should make the district tourney exciting. Any team could win it...

  8. DATE: January 24, 2011

TO: Athletic Directors and Head Baseball Coaches

FROM: Gene Menees, Assistant Executive Director

    SUBJECT: Legal Baseball Bats

This is an explanation of the memo that was sent on January 20.

Any composite bat that is legal must be on the list that is on our website (tssaa.org).

BESR and BBCOR pertains only to aluminum bats.

Just got this the other day:

    DATE: January 20, 2011

TO: Athletic Directors and Head Baseball Coaches

FROM: Gene Menees, Assistant Executive Director

    SUBJECT: Legal Baseball Bats

As a reminder for the 2011 high school baseball season, legal bats can come from 1 of 3 categories:

    1) Bats that have BESR permanently stamped on the barrel

    2) Bats that have BBCOR permanently stamped on the barrel

    3) Composite bats that are listed on our website

Any bat within 1 of these 3 groups is legal for the 2011 baseball year.
