The pandemic and the fallout from it destroyed HS football in a lot of places where it was already in trouble.  This year alone, about 1/3 of all the head coaching jobs in the state turned over, and that’s on top of an insanely high number in 2020 and 2021

Not all of those schools put much effort into getting quality replacements in place.  Many schools are struggling with numbers and with getting and keeping decent assistant coaches now.

Boone and Hampton both had strong athletic cultures and supportive administrations/communities in place already, so they’ve weathered the storm nicely.

Jenkins has been the longest tenured head coach in the state for about 7 years now.  Lunsford at Hampton is only around 30 years old, but he’s already surprisingly high on that list himself because of all the turnover.

I'm sure the pandemic has done damage. Just surprised how many teams are so far down. Hope it recovers

I’m calling a running clock for the dogs tonight. With our late start y’all might be home in time to watch the end of ours given the late start. Just hope ours is worth watching by then lol.

I think you're right. DOGS haven't seemed to come up against much competition to this point (except for PF) and don't see that being any different tonight. These used to be intense games; Funny how times change

The Dawgs will be the best team HV sees all year. Just don't think they can compete with a loaded Hampton team for 4 quarters. 5 touchdown game in favor of HHS.

I agree with your game prediction...Does that mean Hampton is better than SG? Thinking it was a 5 TD win over HV for SG too. CD beat HV worse than that and I sure don't believe CD is better than SG. It's HS football and untell'n who does what, especially this day and time.

Think HV has improved from last season but they were not very good. Its really hard to gauge our team, without all the mistakes we could be pretty good, Time comes if we make these mistakes, we'll limp home. We have potential but potential has never won a game. We've got to clean it up and get better if we are to compete with better teams. Nothing to Crow about at this point.

Think HV will be as good this year as they were last....Doesn't help the Dogs much, they'll just need to keep their heads outta the clouds. I remember the days when Johnson Co, HV, Cland were 4-qtr wars!

Got a good feeling ,we'll play well Friday night. Found plenty to work on from last Friday. A lot of boo boo's to fix. Not sure what that means score wise, we should  be a better version.

Always interesting when the warriors come to town going with the Dogs in this one. Should get interesting.

The talent level I've witnessed with teams in pre-season and to this point is down so much (and in all classes) that I don't expect HV has a chance to keep it close when considering their recent games. Think the DOGS have to come out very flat and make a ton of mistakes for this one to be within 28...There Pujo, I set ya up Lol

Funny, sorta liked watching them play myself, I sure miss ole C, kid was a Warrier. Not Happy Valley either ,lol. Its a Wonder The Black Beast didn't kill some in the stands. They should give an IQ test before allowing some of these people in. If they are adults and act like spoiled toddlers, put them in a high chair away from the crowd. Can't stand some of these nuts squalling at the kids and coaches.

The black beast came unglued more than once in these years.

Same thing happened with the first C! God knows he could throw. But there were idiots then too. The last C just ran the frick over ya. He wasn't as smart as the first C Lol....reminded me more of the oldest bro haha

Thats why you never see me in the stands. Don't need any arm chair quarterbacks telling me whats going on . None of the kids or Coaches are perfect, I 2ond guess things but I try to keep it to myself. Pretty sure all the players and coaches are trying to win. Its not hard for me to live with imperfection, learned it from myself, lol

Yep but I liked it up there Lol. I may have killed mine had I been on the field

We do have some speed in several positions. Just gotta get um in the open field.

That may well prove the biggest challenge as season ages. But if they can get an open lane, they'll be gone. Can't get hit at the line. Those openings should come as they focus on stopping Levi

Shoot don’t I know it. I’m forever keeping someone riled up seems like. It’s not intentional, I’m sure there’s some out there that are more dedicated to the program than me but that list isn’t very big and getting smaller each year it seems. Keep on posting, gives pujo and appvol someone to talk to besides me, spike and OnB.

I've listened to the crap for 15 years in the stands, especially the last two. He wasn't getting it out fast enuf, throwing it quick enuf, didn't place it perfectly enuf...yet we made it to state somehow Lol.  So, I'm working hard to keep my words close...for now haha

Negatives are always a part of it, just gotta see it and try to fix it.  Like anyone else I'm proud of my youngun, He's for sure earned anything he gets.

Dang straight he has. Just not sure there's another to truck a player or two for big gains...May not have to, depends of level of D competition. Sure got the speed if the crack is there for them to get thru... if not they need to start getting LOW!

Shoot I need help, That lone Ranger business is for the birds. Our negatives  for the most part the other night was mainly penalties, missed some blocks and a few didn't give it their best effort, need to get that stuff fixed to be a good team come playoff time.  We were lights out on Defense nearly the whole game.

Haha! Played well but any negatives I'll keep quiet about. Levi plays like a freakin man! He'll have to carry more and more of the load soon.

Any 1A  team in the state would love to have him. He is and never has been a rah rah kinda kid, He does his job and goes back to the huddle, a lot of kids should take notes, thats the way you should play this game. Jerry Lunsford.

Agree on all points. Kid took a beating and was hurt but continued to play like a man

Went about how I thought.  We need to focus on winning the region and advancing in the playoffs as far as we can.  Other than unicoi the schedule gets more favorable.  I think it's more of a rebuilding year than everyone thought but I think the kids that were jv last year have come a long way.  We're hurting for athletes in the 7 through 9 class but we've got some real talent in the rec club.

Without a mistake or two, it could have been 24-12 or closer at one point. Love watching #12 play. He's a baller
