don't know the score but i have seen uh play several times this year and it wouldn't surprise me if they won the game. these 2 teams still have cloudland and unaka to play. should be several good games in these conference!!

Hampton really had no problem with UH....When Hampton got lazy, UH made runs....then Hampton would run up a 10-12 pt lead.....

Well, Hampton took care of UH with little problem.....I did notice that Hampton doesnt have "killer instinct" yet....they had UH totally whooped and didnt take care of business......Young Men, you must have the reaction of a shark in bloodied water.....when you see the competition injured, move in for the kill......This game, like the Johnson Co game was a lot closer than it should have been.......///// NOW, with all that said, let me say this team showed how talented and dominate they can be WHEN they put their minds to it.......We're proud of ya DAWGS......keep working and improving......and when you decide to play with passion from beginning to end you will surprise your competition and yourselves

The DOGS played well enough to beat Johnson County (although Still was in foul trouble). They can still play better basketball and i believe we will continue to see them improve. Ward my have only had 9 pts but he was big in many other areas......may i say he did great in the back position of the revamped 1-3-1 (thumbs up to the coaches for changes made). Hughes was hugh from the stripe, Jones was in double figures, Andrews and Lyons showed great hustle as usual and Hill played big many times (Andrews and Hill have an awesome soft touch for young men their size). DOGS, continue to improve, respect your coaches and each other, PLAY YOUR GAME, and the Hampton fans will continue to follow you as will victory!!!!!!

YES 'C', they are not adult men but they are young men and yes im sure they hear the bull going around....(this is a good life lesson for them cause life is pretty much this way from here on) THEY have to step up, forget the gossip they've heard and do their jobs to perfection (or as close as their abilities will allow them)... The accusation throwing by unsatisfied parents and fans IS NOT just a Hampton problem.....it goes on EVERYWHERE....If Johnny is shooting too much or not passing to lil Timmy when he is open, then that is an issue the COACHES MUST DEAL WITH. But i still insist that the coaches and players will step up, make the changes needed, respect one another and play TEAM ball just like they did this summer (and it wasnt ONE player that beat the high-caliber teams they beat this summer.....it was a TEAM) So, if these players are reading these posts let me say...."Young men, listen to me, you are playing a GAME so have fun! In whatever you do, give it your all and remember there will always be someone you must depend on so learn to depend on one another NOW. JONES, run that floor with confidence, find the open man with crisp passes and take the good shot when it presents itself and be relentless on 'D'......WARD and HUGHES, play your game, be relentless on 'D', but remember you have a supporting cast (as good as you two are, one nor two will ever beat five) if they believe you will pass the ball out, they will play you two looser, that will take alot of double teams off you both......HILL, post up strong and demand the ball, then go up and in STRONG!!!! your 6'6 young man, be a power house, move your feet and own the lane.....ANDREWS and LYONS, we want you to keep the hustle up, it is a great example to the others! SUBS, when your in, this is your chance to contribute as a team player its not a shoot around and dribbling contest, be confident , for you will be very much needed soon......COACHES, RESPECT YOUR PLAYERS...you'll want them to look back and respect you some day !!!!!!

 

 

Good post! I really believe some people are freaking out for no reason. They have not played their best ball and really have not played as good as they did this summer. I think they will get there and there have been flashes of it already. They just have not done it for the whole game. As far as the jealously thing goes, I don't think there is very much going on between the players. Maybe a little bit but most of that is coming from parents and families. I think some of you guys just need to be careful what you say on this board because I know for a fact the players do read this board at times. I think Hampton turns it around in a big way next game and all of this will be forgotten....except for the part where Username got personal

Noit open your eyes my friend, look at the antics and accusations transpiring right before your eyes. I myself can not make this type of bewildering up. One may say, but Caesar its seems you are hoping this upon the Hamptinians and by saying this you are making the accusation I myself am like every other yellow belly on this thread. Hear me now, I would never wish a negative thing on a young lad. I will however speak the truth, like it or not. Lets not forget Noit we are not talking about adult MEN, we are talking about young lads who are still influenced by adults (parents). My point is this Sir, these LADS hear everything that is said by parents, grandparents, fans, coaches, the media, and even what is said here on coachT. With that being said, these young lads are going to believe what they hear at home, in the stand, and in the media. If maw and paw assume little Johnny shoots to much they will tell little Tommy,"not to pass the ball", or even " shoot it more you know Johnny will". Correct me when I am wrong, but this will fuel jealousy and it is happening believe it or not folks. Hamptinians you have problems this is obvious whether you folks want to admit it or not, it is inevitable. But you do have hope when the nations economy is on the down ward spiral and the standards are not being met for the American people, what do they do? They ride it out until they have a chance to make a change. This is always an option.

I see we have some new players joining the game. What a surprise the King has graced us with his presence. You can calm down Sir, Sparky is obviously new to this and full of piss and vinegar. Although he does have a valid point but lets leave that for another time and day. Onto the topic at hand, which I myself am beginning to wonder what it really is. I do know this my friends, the Hamptinians have some issues. Some say one thing while other dispute it, leading to an argument between bullhog supporters. It seems to me it is a chronic problem you have within your system. As I said before nations have fell due to this sort of thing. A prime example of this sort of bickering would be Dirty Hair. He says Mr. Ward should shoot or at least touch the ball every possession. On the other hand some say he should not he is a ball hog. This seems to me to be the main issue. It is very obvious after surveying a hand full of threads what the problem is and its very simple folks. Listen and while you listen ponder these thoughts. Why did Cain fight with his own brother Abel? Jealousy has hindered man throughout the beginning of time. It still is today and will continue throughout the end of time. Make note fellow readers jealousy has also been the cause of nations to fall. This has seemed to be the underlining problem with Hamptinians for years. Coaches jealous of other coaches in the program, players jealous of other players, and last but not least parents jealous of KIDS. This folk is the problem and will continue to be. Self destruction is inevitable, you have no control now. Noit you seem like a lad that has some so called since, I hate to see you go through something like this you have no control over. We all know once something is broke it will never be the same, it can be repaired yes, but it will never be 100 percent ever again. The fact of the matter is the Hamptinians have major internal problem, which obviously your whippersnappers can not fix nor can any of you yellow bellies. You can do one of two things Hamptinians, you can open your eyes and see Caesar is mindful of you program and your problems and may be correct in his writings or you can keep letting lads such as Lard Vader paint a beautiful picture for you and keep living in a fairy tale. Oh how we have ruffled feathers of fellow men, Dirty Hair. Let me say this, not only does players need to find a role but so do the so called Hamptinians as well. Some write one is the best, while some get angry over that statement and dispute it. I will say this, listen closely, Hair your statement are correct in essence, he is the "best player" on the 09-10 Bullhoge team. But for him to be the "best" he must realize this and so do about nine other young lads. Not only do they have to come to terms with this fact, so does the four Whippersnappers on the bench shouting profound orders. Now onto you Noit, NO the comment was not directed to you. It was directed to your fellow so called alliance groupies. Their antics and profound accusations have come to obviously disturb certain Hamptinians. In this case they do not know their roles, which I stated previously EVERYONE must know their roles. Hair you seem to understand the essence of playing a role, but do you understand what it means to be the so called "best". This division of lovers and haters seem to bring the question to mind, do you want a change? Do you want to change you young lads role and see if he can complete the task at hand? Maybe you want to change your role. Do you want to bring the nation down to better yourself at the cost of others? These are all question one must ask before he makes such profound statement as I have read recently. How did Troy fall? It was a dominant force to be recon with, but their over bearing ways and selfish attitude hindered them in their thinking. They thought they was the best, but was they really?

I am an avid bulldog fan and have been for years. I do agree that every great team has to come together and understand their roles on the team. This is really important to this years bulldog team. They need to understand that they have a bunch (and I mean a bunch of role players) on this team and 1 star Dylan Ward the ball should go through him every time down he is a match-up nightmare for teams. The juniors on this years team need to know that they are just plain and simple average players and every thing they get will be dictated off of Ward (not trying to hurt any of the others feelings just stating the truth). You take Dylan Ward off this team we are not even thinking about the state tourny, we are playing North Greene in a close ballgame in the play-in-game at king college (which by the way is another issue). So we need to band together and not have bulldog nation crumble (hahaha) understand the roles and let Ward cut loose because he is by far the best player we have hands down

Wo Wo Wo Big fella, that is a very bold statement. The best? Lets do some reviewing here. Through this whole board you have bashed these young lads but now they are the best? Now before you say I said, "could be", let me make clear, that you Yellow Bellies ( look it up my friends) need to learn a thing or two about the best. The best would be a person or thing, which in this case is a person, who is successful. Now before you fellow coachTers read any farther I want you to think about that. Now that you have exhausted any brain cells that you Yellow Bellies have, read this and read very clearly my friends. First and for most, to be the best you must win. What have these young (not really all that young young would be playing freshmen) lads won? A few games? Maybe, have they won a district championship? Not many, what about a regional championship? Nope, How about a sub state? Nope, A state championship? Ill answer that one and smile, NO THEY HAVE NOT! Second, have they beat the best? Obviously not, because the previous questions make that apparent. Last but not least the best has the support of a whole community no matter how good or bad the team may be. They do not have maw and paw cursing the coach or for that matter coach cussing a player. They do not have a division between players, parents, and coaches. By stating certain players are the best or could be, shows me and my people your true mentality. Look back in history friends can any of these players with their roles out play players on " the best" Hampton, Unaka,and Cloudland teams? Keep in mind roles stay the same. This may be the problem my friends, to be the best you have to know your role. Maybe some Hampton players, maws,paws, grandparents, and friends do not like theirs roles. Think about it fellow readers. How do nations fall? Individuals want a change, want a higher role, and want a better role, so they will fight to the bitter end at all cost to see this happen. Sounds poetic but is it true Hamptinians? Are they the best?

I haven't even been to a dawg game and it's happening again.... the easiest way to keep up with the troubles of the alliance is logging in and double-clicking awhile. I have a few concerns:

 

1. Since there's so much "ball hogging" going on, it's probably safe to say that the Clark kid made the dawgs better when he transferred back to Avery. Just imagine what the board would look like if that kid would have hung around.

 

2. To be the best, it's a good idea to get it to the best players on the team. Whether anybody wants to admit it or not, Ward is the best player on the team and he has to take a majority of the shots from the outside. By looking at the paper Hughes has been inconsistent since the footballers came back and Jones is too busy trying to run the team. Get it to 13 and things will get better.

 

3. Rambler said it and I heard it's true.... Hampton's freshmen got throttled by Unaka on Saturday. Plus the Bales kid and Nave only played a little bit because it got so out of hand. By the way the future is looking, coachT better get some more disk space. These "searching for answer" posts will triple in size in a few years.

WARD is a very good player, HUGHES has not been on but that will change soon, JONES finds the open man with few turnovers, LYONS busts his butt on every outting, get the ball to the 'BIGS' when they post up and everything will be just fine.....as for JONES "running the team", ask the coaches or any player and they'd say thats his job as PG (he just needs to loosen up and play his game).....(seems too many trips down the floor have plays set in stone)....I'd love to see this team RUN the floor and play as a team....'get ONE man' the ball will never be the answer, WAY TOO MUCH TALENT on this team for that

 

I agree.... The real thing here to look at isn't your opinion, my opinion, or his opinion, It's the talent that is there at Hampton High. I do believe things will kick into gear. And as easy as it is to do lets not forget this team is still young, I do all the time. there are 3 players on this team that could all be considered some of the best in a long time and they all 3 Jr's.

But once again I do wish Wards passing game would improve. Not just to make the team better but to make himself better as well. Go Dogs, and God bless.

Some food for thought. Did you ever think that the reason they played the 1-3-1 is to their center, who I will not name, can STAND in the middle of the lane. He cannot guard anyone in man defense, that has already been proven. So you are saying that you want everyone to "man up" aor guard their man? Wouldn't you like to see that.......................talk about getting burnt. You would have to have subs for defense and then sub for offense. They are limited in what they can do when they have the "bigs" in the lineup because the other teams bigs are quicker and can play facing the basket. So, if you are wanting a change in the defense you are saying to put our "big" on the bench???? Is that correct?

I don't really know what to say about this situation. It's sad to watch this team crumble like they are doing. Right now, this team is all hype...

 

On a few positive notes, Hill has came a long way since last year. He is a completely different player. I was really impressed with him and have been all year. Hornsby played very good. If they all played as hard as Lyons, I don't think they'd lose a game. And Ward is a player. One of the best I've ever seen around here. He carried them through this game as much as he could...

Hampton seems to have some chemistry problems right now. They seem to be very out of sync on Offense especially. A lot of guys don't know when to shoot and when not to. NOBODY is helping to set up their teammate at all. I like several of the sets that Hampton runs but I would love to see what the could do in a motion offense with more screening. I guess Hampton has never run a motion offense? Sometimes things that worked good 30 years ago are not the best things to run now. Hampton has a hard time getting good shots! I think Hampton will be fine, they had great chemistry all summer and beat several teams that were much, much better than Elizabethton. No offense to the Clones, but they were! They just need to get it together and quick. Somebody needs to distribute the ball and be a point guard for Hampton to be really good. I don't know if they will ever get that or not?

#4 Jones is the point guard.....the papers, coaches and many on team said he had the best summer outing of them all. HE has the talent to break the press, find the open man, take the smart shot, and make the other team miserable on 'd'. Now with that said, he HAS NOT done those things at the start of the season.....but it is JUST the start of the season. When he is not leading, this team is just not the same team they were this summer. He must get with it, directing and leading by example. TJ Lyons busted his butt Tuesday night and i've not heard a thing about it ! As a matter fo fact, Mike Matheson showed more appreciation for his hustle than the team did. Yes, the fans need to show more respect, but these players MUST show respect for their teammates also and PLAY AS A UNIT.....Basketball is a war, made up of many predetermined moves and counting on all the team....and ALL the team must be ready to fight....not just score, but rebound, box out, hustle on 'd' and so on...Hey, "RAMBO" was not a real character, he was fiction. Mark this down, it takes a team to win a state title, never has one or two EVER done it before.....So Dogs, LETS GET WITH IT !!!!!!

Okay, Elizabethton's Wash shot the lites out of it and Eliz played probably their best game and it was a couple of late turnovers (made by a Bulldog team that played sorry basketball....PERIOID!!!) that got Eliz their win. BULLDOG BASKETBALL IS BEING TUNED-UP AND WILL BE FINE! Think about it, Jones spent alot of time on the bench (i heard he wasnt at school today because of possible strep) cause he wasnt playing his usual game, Hill and Hughes went to the bench multi times for not playing smart (how many air balls and short shots were put up ? How many rebounds did we NOT get ? Hard to count !) and Elizabethton BARELY WON THE GAME !!!!!

Coaching problem ? Not in my opinion ! Its easy to sit in the stands and disagree with what looks to be bad coaching, but fact is, we dont know what rules and direction the kids are given. If they refuse to play 'D', refuse to box out, refuse to hustle, they must be corrected so that state can be a possibility.

when does hampton play cloudland and unaka, better not look to far ahead of those games these 2 teams look good. they both played crockett good games!!!

i agree, there arent many teams that can get away with looking over another team....but, if hampton PREPARES for each game like its the toughest game on their schedule, and they play for the team, they will be hard to beat...(not taking anything from anyother team in the area)

WOW, the wisdom of these dog haters is just overwhelming me......just keep sending em up here, marching around mocking this part of the country and so on and we'll keep sending em on that long ride home with their final loss of the season.....and dont say TP wasnt cocky and wasnt doing alot of unnecessary name calling (but only to high school KIDS) cause i know for a fact that they did. But, at the end, i believe it to be THE HAMPTON BULLDOGS still standing.

fan support means EVERYTHING !!!! BULLDOG FANS HAVE TO BRING IT NEXT FRIDAY ! and yes, players do look to stands for support and we shuld be giving it.....its apparent to me over the last few games (and last night for sure) that Hampton has more than just one or two weapons at skill positions. And do not doubt, Ward CAN throw the ball and the other wide out has the hands and speed to make the big play.....Lunce knows what he's doing, he makes the right calls at just the right time.
